Toys R Us: New Hasbro Game Deal Scenarios
Alright, so could ya tell that I wasn’t on the blog much today? Well, I was spending time with my favorite little people and my hubby… who I’ve been waiting on hand and foot. 😉
Anyway, I just wanted to update you all on the *HOT* Toys R Us Hasbro game deals available this week. I read through the 100+ comments on my previous post and learned quite a bit. First, if you’re unable to find the rebate form at your local Toys R Us, then you can head on over here to print the form. Also, reader, Stephanie, mentioned finding a coupon valid for $5 off the purchase of any combination of Hasbro games over $19.99 on a box of Frosted Flakes at a Walmart in Indiana. Hopefully some of you will be able to find this great coupon too.
Like I mentioned last week (and completely forgot to post this week–sorry), when you purchase one select Hasbro Game priced at $10.99 (Trouble Twister, Operation, Connect 4, Scrabble, Battleship, Guess Who, Sorry, The Game of Life or Monopoly), you can score a FREE Chocolate monopoly or Chocolate Scrabble game ($9.99 value). This discount will automatically be applied at checkout! You can check out all the details on page 28 of the Toys R Us The Great Big Christmas book or you can view the book online here. *Note: Only the select games listed in The Great Big Christmas book that are on sale for $10.99 qualify for the FREE Chocolate game. …AND get this, from reading the comments on my previous post, it DOES appear that the Chocolate Monopoly and Scrabble games will count toward your $35 total (to get the $10 Toys R Us gift card)!!
Here’s one deal scenario (if you can find the chocolate games):
Buy (1) one Battleship or Operation Game $10.99
Buy (1) one Chocolate Monopoly or Scrabble Game $9.99 (FREE with purchase above)
Buy (1) one Chutes & Ladders $3
Buy (1) one Candy Land $3
Buy (1) one Ants in the Pants $5
Buy (1) one Don’t Break the Ice $5
Total = $36.98
Minus the $9.99 discount (for the Chocolate Monopoly or Scrabble game)
Pay $26.99
Get back a $10 Toys R Us gift card (for purchasing $35 worth of games)
And then submit for $11 worth of Mail-in Rebates
Final cost only $5.99 total for all 6 games above– just $1 each! 🙂
AND here’s another deal scenario (without the chocolate game):
Buy (1) one Chutes & Ladders $3
Buy (1) one Candy Land $3
Buy (1) one Ants in the Pants $5
Buy (1) one Don’t Break the Ice $5
Buy (1) one Don’t Spill the Beans $5
Buy (1) one Cootie $5
Buy (1) one Memory $5
Buy (1) one Hi Ho Cherrio $5
Total = $36 (+ tax)
Get back a $10 Toys R Us gift card (for spending $35!)
And then submit for $16 worth of Mail-in Rebates
Final cost only $1.25 per game!!
(Thanks, Happy Clippings!)

Awesome! Thanks for the scenarios.
Perfect…just in time for Christmas gifts.
I just got through telling my husband I wasn’t shopping this week……yeah right!!
I said that too. My hubby and I are on our way to Toys R Us to get the games deal and the gift card deal. Unfortunately my store you have to spend $100 instead of $75. Oh well!
Hmmn, at these craaaazy prices!, Might just have to p/u and donate for christmas!!
Great idea!
Hope you had an awesome time with your great family- I’m sure they enjoyed you waiting on them hand and foot. 🙂
Thanks for the deal scenarios, what great gifts.
I’m trying to figure out the chocolate game scenario… Collin just has battleship or operation listed, but it should be any of the 10.99 games, right?
*Note: Only the select games listed in The Great Big Christmas book that are on sale for $10.99 qualify for the FREE Chocolate game.
Sorry for the confusion. It IS any of the $10.99 games listed in The Great Big Christmas book. I just listed those as an example. Hope that clears up any confusion! 🙂
thanks Collin…. I just want to say again how much you have helped my family… you are a godsend!
You’re so welcome! 🙂
Thanks! I can’t wait to get there tomorrow.
If I spend $75, will I get $20 in GC? ($10 for Hasbro and $10 for $75?) Wondering if I shoul go ahead and make some additional purposes because then I’m basically getting $10 off my additional $40 purchase, right?
Yes, it worked for me. I actually bought Toy Story 3 and 2 other Disney movies to spend 40 on Disney, which then got me to the 75. a bit over but I got ones that I actually wanted and earned $30 in gift cards. They did not have chocolate monopoly or scrabble. I’d look for those items first before picking out the other games so you know what to work with. I overspent on games because of trying to get a free chocolate scrabble-my baby was fussing and needed to get home to the others! Still GREAT deals according to a new deal seeker! Thanks Collin and all others who responded!
Just an fyi – there is a limit of one rebate per household.
Yes, this scenario absolutely worked for me. I bought, almost to the “t”, what was suggested in the original scenario. My TRU was out of the chocolate games unfortunately and it was while supplies last. However I’m very very happy at getting these games for $2.14 each (including tax and I have the $10 gift card as well). I’ve got my rebate all ready to mail in tomorrow and have sent my mom the information so that she can go run the scenario at her TRU. We are thrilled because my sons’ school adopts a less fortunate school at the holidays and they are always looking for family gifts. We sometimes spend a lot on donations, but this year between grocery coupons for the canned food drive and this deal for the games, we are donating so much to the less fortunate and still able to stay within our own budget. Thank you!
can you buy these games online or instore only?!?!?!?!
Does this work online?
Seriously Collin. You are amazing! Thank you thank you thank you!
Collin, I have no clue how you ever find time to do the blog in the first. You need a break and family time every once and a while and we all respect that.
My tru was out of the chocolate games last week and she doesn’t think that they will get anymore in. I would call ahead to the store as I had to change my scenario around.
And the picture is deceiving…the chocolate games are very small (like a See’s candy box) and are actually edible chocolates, not a game.
I am in Tacoma WA.
I asked if they had the chocolate games since I couldn’t find them and wanted to see what they looked like. The girl checked with the front desk and they said they plan to get more in later in the week. So if your store did not have them today, you might want to check back and do the deal later since it is good until the 24th. It’s good to know what to expect (post #15- thanks!).
So if we do the scenarios, should we submit the rebate now, or will there probably be deals on games later in the season that require this rebate form, since its one per household? I started couponing after last coupon, so I have no idea how this works with TRU rebates
Is the $10 TRU gift card only possible instore, or can you get it when you order online?
only in stores 🙁
Does anyone know if you can “roll” this deal? Meaning, can you buy the games and then use the $10 gift card for another games deal?
Someone told me the card wont be activated for 6 hours, so you could, you would just have to wait 🙁
oh, you are right, I did read about that in the ad.
I was debating whether to do this deal or not and then I thought of all the people that will magical need presents a week before Christmas. You have convinced me. If I have any left they can go into the Birthday party stash which I’m sure will need replenishing soon with two little ones. Thanks, Collin.
Do you have to cut up the boxes t do the rebates? If you want to donate them, you really couldn’t with the boxes opened. Just wondering?
No, you don’t need to cut out anything on the box. it just says send in the form and cash register reciept. Good question! I hadn’t thought of that at all…
Ande, You don’t have to cut the boxes, always something I also wonder when buying to donate things. You only have to send the receipt!!
I didn’t do this deal but one like it last spring at TRU. I have a closet full of Hasbro games for gifts. I am going to donate some and give to family. I spent the GC $10 (I received in Mar. or April) later in the spring on 2 Mr. Potato Heads and the Glow Worm toy using coupons and GC and still have $ on GC to buy laundry soap on clearance in the summer. Amazing how far deals and GCs can be spread!
This deal worked great for me as well. Plus I had a $5 off a $25 purchase and combined that will a $3 off birthday card from one of my kids birthdays to bring the total out of pocket down by $8. So…I paid $31.22, walked away with a $10 gift card and $17 in rebates. Thanks for the tips Collin and others!
By the way, I was soooo glad to snag the one day only zhu zhu pets half off sale. I think I read that in the comments section yesterday and would NOT have checked that out otherwise. Zhu Zhu pets were $4.99 and the babies were $2.74. Plus I picked up some fun accessories. I do not think we’ll beat these deals around Thanksgiving even!!
Where did you get the $5/$25 coupon?
Can you get more then one free chocolate game in the same transaction, if I bought more then one of the 10.99 game that qualify? I’m sure its a no and I missed the fine print somewhere but thought I’d check.
Yes you can!
I still have one of those Q’s out of the card games that we all got free at walmart….and they had the Q on the inside of the box!! I only has a few games that it will work for but scrabble and sorry are on it!! So if any of you did this you might wanna dig out your card games and grab that $5 Q out of it….sweeten this deal even more!!!
I just got back from Toys R Us and most of these games listed are MB games and not Hasbro games so wont qualify for the $10 gift card when you spend $35 (on hasbro games)! Just heads up on this…thanks for the info on the sales with rebates though, which is still a good deal. Unless, my toys r us checkout guy was wrong?? Anyone know? He pointed to the Habro symbol on the box and said in order to get the gift card I had to buy “Hasbro” games not “MB (Milton Bradley)” Games. Was he wrong?
Milton Bradley is a subsidiary of Hasbro so they deal should work just fine for the gift card.
I thought that same thing but I got the $10 GC after doing the deal without the Chocolate games.
Okay – so I’m NOT losing my mind! I had tried to do the chocolate game deal – bought $36 worth of (both MB & Hasbro marked) games – and then was told it has to be $35 worth of games marked ONLY Hasbro. I told them that they’re all owned by the same company now, but they were like “Nope – has to be only Hasbro on the box; it would have prompted us to the giftcard otherwise.” I already know that the manager at our store is NOT very friendly – so w/o even asking for her, I just had them undo the transaction and figured I’d head back tomorrow when I have more free time. I will have to try to get to $35 without the chocolate game and see if it does the $10 gift card THAT way. That ad is SO not cool IMHO; always glad to know when something goes awry I can come back to the comments section and find out what went wrong (and be glad I’m not the only one who had ‘issues.’ 😀
Um… this deal didn’t work for me. Bummer, At my TRU they do not include the 9.99 price of the chocolate game in the total to reach $35. It has to be OOP. Even spoke with the manager and it was no go. By that time my 3 year old was about to scream bloody murder, so I didn’t want to have to go back and figure out which $10+ game to get me over the $35 OOP. Maybe I’ll go back later in the week. I did get the last chocolate Scrabble… 🙂
Oh and I meant to say above that the chocolate game did not count towards my $35 either – the computer zero-ed it out I guess once the 10.99 game was rung in, so it was like it didn’t exist anymore towards my total. I wonder if TRU changed how it was ringing up; I understand, but still a bummer.
Just FYI….in case it wasn’t mentiohned, it’s important to note that the Hasbro gift card you get with the deal expires in January so make sure you use it!
Hi colin, First thanks to u for posting great deals. This is my first post in a blog. I did the hasbro deal and it worked like a charm. I like ur site very much, I always look up ur site when ever i do the drugstore(i started recently doing drugstore deals)deals.
Maybe all of you already knew this but I really didn’t know what “Chocolate Scrabble/Monopoly” meant before going to the store today. Basically it’s the game version with chocolate pieces as game pieces! It will make an nice extra “fun” gift for one of the adults on my list.
I went to my tru in indiana and the $10 gc on hasbro game is no longer available??? After waiting for 15 minutes for a manager to come and tell me this, I was extremely upset. I have called tru and someone is going to get back to me within 5 days. Has one else ran into this problem??? Thanks
i bought the 2nd scenerio and I also didn’t recieve a gift card. I went to customer service and asked about it and they told me it said while supplies last and that they werent giving gift cards any longer. I know they weren’t out of gift cards because other people at other registers were getting them on other purchases. Anyone know the best way to get anywhere with this with corporate?
aw jeez! this is my third comment – but I’m just reading down the page. Now I’m wondering if THAT’S why I didn’t get a GC. Super bummer. Oh well, we’ll still score some deals w/the rebates, so, thankful for that.
aha… so maybe THAT’S why I didn’t get a giftcard… TY!
I just went in and was checking out with $36 worth of games. Before handing them my money I asked to make sure she was giving me the $10 gift card and she told me that as of today they were no longer doing it – it was “while supplies lasted”. I asked if that meant while the supply of games lasted or while the supply of gift cards lasted – she said she didn’t know – the manager came over and said that Hasbro called them and told them that they could no longer give out the gift cards. I highly suggested that they put up a sign or something at least to let people know BEFORE they are standing at the register checking out… I’m very dissappointed that they just stopped giving this out without warning. I do think I still got a good deal – after rebates – it just could have been better…
Thanks everyone for the comments. I was tempted to load up my 2 yr old and make the nearly half hr drive to the closest TRU (and do some other shopping in the area) but think I’ll pass on the deal now.
