If you missed out on the free glasses offer from Coastal Contacts last week, you now have a second chance to snag a free pair!
Here’s what you need to do to increase your chances of snagging free glasses…
* Head over to the Coastal Contacts Facebook page now, “like” them and click on the “Get the Code” button (remember, this code will not be valid until November 18th at 12:01 PM EST)
* Then head over to CoastalContacts.com and pick out your favorite frames (try to find between 3-5 frames that you would be happy with since many styles are sure to sell out quickly). You may even want to bookmark these pages so that you’re prepared on Thursday.
* Then just be sure to schedule time to hang out in front of the computer on Thursday at Noon EST (and keep in mind that I’ll be sure to remind you on Thursday morning)
Giveaway Details/Rules
* Only the first 10,000 people will be able to use the coupon code to snag a FREE pair of glasses including the frame and standard 1.5 index lenses (note: you will need to pay shipping/handling charges will usually range between $10-$15). Keep in mind that if you have received a free pair of glasses from Coastal Contacts before, then you are not eligible for this promotion; limit one free pair per household.
* This promotion is only valid for web orders. If you need help with your web order, call the optical staff at 1-866-333-6888.
* Certain frames are NOT eligible for the promotion. If you see a “Coupons not applicable” message on a pair of frames, then it is excluded from the promotion.
* You will need a copy of your current eyeglasses prescription (it’s different from your contact lens prescription) and your PD measurement. Sometimes your PD will be on your prescription, but if not, watch this instructional video on how to measure it.
* After you have chosen your frames and selected your shipping method, you’ll go to a “Order Review & Payment” page, where you can enter and apply your coupon code. After applying your code, you will see your order total before you choose to check out (remember that you will have to pay shipping/handling charges of $10-$15)
* If you would prefer to order a pair of prescription sunglasses, you can use the coupon code and then you can add a tint to your lenses and simply pay for the cost of the tinting, which is about $30.
* Your free pair of glasses will include the standard 1.5 index lenses, which accommodates up to a -8.00. However, if your prescription is over a + or -2.00, you may want to upgrade to a thinner, lighter lens. If you choose to upgrade your lenses, or have selected progressives, Transitions or a tint, you will see the cost of the upgrade in your order total.
* If you’re not happy with your glasses for any reason, Coastal Contacts will allow one exchange for another free pair at an equal or lesser value. They’ll even pay for the return shipping and send you a return label. Just give them a call at 1-866-333-6888 to make arrangements. Remember to keep your box and all the accessories that came with your order.

I am a certified Optician and have been fitting glasses for over 20 years. Some comments on this deal:
Be VERY careful when buying progressive lenses, or any type of bifocal. These must be measured to be placed in the exact right place or you will be looking thru the wrong part of the lens and they won’t work for you.
This deal is great if you are ordering single vision lenses but I would not order any bifocal or multifocals with it. The margin for error is huge with those types of lenses. Also, if you are ordering for a child, you MUST get Polycarbonate lenses for safety. The plastic lenses that come with this deal will be very thick and if they break, they splinter into tiny pieces and that is not safe.
The 1.5 lenses will be VERY thick in any prescription over -2.00 or +2.00. You WILL want to spend the extra money to get the thinner lenses.
Do not try to take your own PD (pupil distance, should be from the bridge of your nose), everyone’s PD is different and there are very few people that have an even PD. Which means, if you measure it yourself, you will get a TOTAL PD of 62. But your real PD is 30 in one eye and 32 in the other. If you have a low prescription, this won’t affect you much but if you have a prescription over – or + 2.00 or a bifocal, this will throw off your vision.

Also, if you take your PD in a mirror like they recommend in the video, you will be taking your NEAR PD, not your distance PD, which is what you need to fill distance glasses.
Hi Laura, my prescription on both eyes is -2.00, will the 1.5 index lenses be thick or slim to where it fits frame? and on my prescription it has a PD of 62/59.
It depends on the frame. If you keep it small, 54 or smaller, you should be ok with the 1.5 plastic. It will stick over the frame but just a little.

I posted this the last time, but I was to reiterate my feelings. I have ordered through Coastal Contacts before and had an unpleasant experience.
1. I ordered through their site because they offered a rebate. They did not honor the rebate until I called the BBB & Attorney General’s office of both Washington & Ohio (where I live).
2. They are a US company but their billing center is located in Canada, so my credit card was charged a foreign transaction fee.
Also, I want to point out that this is not as good of a deal as it may seem. You can go through EyeBuyDirect.com or ZenniOptical (which I have used multiple times) and get glasses starting at $7-$8. I have been very happy with my purchases through Zenni. I have heard that they have “Customer No-Service”, but so does Coastal Contacts IMO.
I have had 2 very good experiences and have never been charged any extra fee (price was charged exactly as shown on my checkout screen). I have ordered 1 pair of glasses and contacts as well. I have not done the rebate stuff but did use codes on their site to get a better deal. HTH.
I ordered glasses from Coastal Contacts a few weeks ago because my 1 yr. old pair of glasses that I bought at LensCrafters (for $300) fell apart. I got my new glasses very fast, they are great quality & I’m pleased & would do business with Coastal Contacts again without a doubt. I’m sorry you’ve had a bad experience but mine was great.
Thought I would also add that my glasses were under $25 including shipping & upgraded lenses. Very happy with them!
I did the free glasses deal from them about a year ago, and my only complaint about the lenses is that it seems to be harder to get them clean. My eyes water a lot and the lenses get dirty easily and sometimes wiping them just smudges them, unlike other glasses I have had. Other than that I LOVE them and wear them every day. I think I paid $7 out the door (for shipping) so a good deal in my opinion.
I’m glad others have had success with this company. My bad experience with them was just over 2 years ago, so perhaps things have changed. Also, the foreign transaction fee depends on your credit card and would appear separately from the Coastal Contacts charge. I am not willing to remove my grudge though 🙂

I just wanted to say that this company seems great. I ordered my pair of free glasses last Friday. They said they would be delivered Nov 23 and I received an email this morning saying they had shipped. I checked the tracking number and it said out for delivery! I only paid like $12 for the shipping and handling. I also called their customer service because I had a question. They were extremely helpful and super nice. I will definitely be using them again!
Make sure you set up an account and log in before you order. Last week I ordered without logging in, I paid with Paypal and then got an error – no order number, no confirmation e-mail, but Pay Pal was charged. I decided to do it again – (what was I thinking?) so logged in this time, placed my order it went through paypal, I got a confirmation e-mail and an order number – but that order has been cancelled – maybe because of the previous order? But at this point I have 2 charges, as far as I know, no glasses coming, and customer service hasn’t been able to tell me what is going on. I just wanted a pair to put on when I’m not wearing contacts – I don’t wear glasses all the time…….

I just wanted to let you know that I was able to score the coupon for free glasses for my husband. We paid $37.80 for his prescription glasses…which he was totally needing a new pair. I ordered contacts for 2 of my children this summer and it was over $100 cheaper than any competitor I could find. I ordered 2 pairs Friday for my kids, so hopefully they will work out. I figured they would be great back up pairs if nothing else. They had really cute styles.

To anyone who is unsure of what would look best on them, I highly suggest you measure the specs of a pair of glasses you feel suit your face best, and then use those specs to search for styles in that sizing range. That is exactly what I did and this style looks great on me. 🙂

Oh and also… this pair I received does not look cheap at all, unlike some of the cheaper glasses I bought at Global Eyeglasses. These look top quality.
I am sooooo happy with these, I may buy two more of the $38 metal pairs… just because I had my eye on them and they are a great price. I used the freebie deal on the higher priced $68 pair first. 🙂
I’m not trying again. I spent a few hours in the 12th getting a pair. The website was very slow and I kept getting errors on the page. It eventually went through, but a few hours later, I got a few confirmations. I called and emailed and the other orders were canceled. I checked my status today and they all were canceled. They said that since I placed more than one order, they canceled them all (even though I called and spoke with someone and it was apparently taken care of) They said they would get back to me to see if I would be getting them. I was looking forward to a new (badly needed) pair of glasses.
When the deal frist came live on the 12th everyone was saying how slow it was but I couldn’t go on until after I got off work. It was about 4-4:30 pm and I had no problems. The site was not slow at all. So maybe just wait a little while before trying.
