i dont know much about this stuff, but would this work on a new tv and wii?

    • Alex

I wondered the same thing about the Wii–but I figured for that price, I’ll take my chance! I bought 2!

    • Sarah

Should work on anything that is HDMI compatible. I hook my laptop up to the tv via the HDMI cord and can play movies from netflix on my computer and view it on my tv!!!!

      • Ashley

I know my laptop is not hdmi capable, ive been told its hit and miss w/whether they are or arent. I really wish i could hook it up to the tv though! I’m not quite sure what we have that is hdmi

        • Sarah

Do you have an X box 360 some of those are HDMI compatible??

      • trailmama

thank you for sharing that!!! i hope i can get that to work since we cancelled our netflix since we couldn’t get it to stream on our tv. for 1.75 i will give it a try!

  2. Kerryn

Just ordered it thanks! It did not qualify for prime for me but still got free standard shipping on it.

  3. Gbates

I just got a new tv and had to pay $50 for a HDMI cable. I just got this one on amazon for free cuz I have a $25 credit with them (gift card) 🙂 now I have an extra if one of the three that are in use go bad. Sweet deal!

  4. Barbara

Got it – planning to buy a new tv over the holidays and know I will need these cables!!!

  5. Lonnette

Thanks! My 9 month old son just snatched mine out of my laptop the other night. This couldn’t have come at a better time. 🙂

  6. Patty

I actually just bought the 9.8 foot one last week, around $10. This one was available then, but I don’t think it’d be long enough for us. We purchased it so we can attach my husband’s computer to our tv and watch Hulu, and possibly Hulu Plus now that Netflix decided to raise their prices! Crossing my fingers that it will work.

  7. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

thank soooooooooo much! I needed this desperately and I am on a strict budget! I got 2 🙂 Thanks again, Collin!!!

  8. FtWayneCardsFan

Picked up a couple to have around or if a friend is in need…thanks for sharing this great deal!

  9. Elizabeth

Thanks Collin My Husband will be real happy now that he can finally watch Netflix on the TV.

  10. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Once again, THANK YOU COLLIN!!! I have wanted an extra hdmi cable for a year, but didn’t want to spend the money. Not only was this a great price, but I had a $10 Amazon gift card from doing a survey for LearnVest, so nothing out of pocket for me….you are the bomb!

  11. April

I wondered with such a good price if there was a hitch. But we just put in a new TV this winter and needed one of this cables. For the price I picked up two.

  12. MissyO316

My hubby was very excited about the price…very sweet deal :>)

  13. Kathy

FYI I just checked with my husband and he doesn’t want it since it is a category 1 not category 2. He is very tech oriented so it might not matter to others.

  14. Rebecca

I would totally get this, except for the fact that my 3 yr. old daughter decided to try and throw a toy at her younger brother last night and hit the 50″ plasma tv instead! It looks like my tv got shot with a bullet now! It won’t come on! We just got it last May too! My husband was NOT happy at all!

  15. Ricki

Ordered 2. For this price, will use it on our Xbox and Bluray in our bedroom. Bought a spendy one for our main tv in the living room a couple months back.

  16. Elizabeth

It says free shipping, but when I ordered it had shipping applied. Why would it do that?

  17. Julie

OOOH. I had some points on my Amazon CC, so I got it for free. Love it!

  18. Mark

The last time I saw this, and I ordered it. They NEVER sent it, though they promised twice, and though Amazon was contacted about it.

  19. Celie

I don’t think I can thank you enough, Collin!!! I’ve been dying for an HDMI cable since we got a new hd tv back in January. I’m just tooooooo cheap to even spend $11 on a USED one!! BUT $1 on a NEW ONE?! Heck yeah!!! Bought 2, just in case!!

  20. Jess

Just bought this the other day, Comcast charges $10 for these.

  21. Tammy

Thank you SOOOO much Colin! I had looked at buying one today for our new appleTV device and couldn’t stomach the 3 ft. cable at Walmart for 22.00. You’re a lifesaver!

It’s funny watching technologically illiterate people discuss HDMI cables and other such things, asking if they’ll work, how to hook them up, if it’s a good price, etc. Let me tell you that this is not a super deal, and if you pay more than a few bucks for an HDMI cable, you’re getting ripped off. And I’m not talking about hey you can get a deal most of the time, I’m talking about 24/7 normal prices. I got a 3′ HDMI cable for $1, and this is the normal price it’s at all the time, and I paid like $2 shipping. Those cables in the store for LITERALLY $20-40? Super chrome plated, gold injected, diamond encrusted cables? Ya, a complete scam and a huge money maker for the stores. Find me any product in the world that sells for literally 25x what it sells for at another location. Go to monoprice.com and buy your cables there.

BTW, if you’re at best buy, and thinking of buying a nice TV or something really expensive, here is what you do: Try to haggle them down (and they will haggle), and then after they lower it a little bit, ask them if they will lower it again if you buy a protection plan and a handful of $30 HDMI cables. They will instantly take $50 off or something. Then what do you do with that insanely prices protection plan and HDMI cables? RETURN THEM! You just saved $100 on an $800 TV, congrats.

    • Melissa

Well, all of the 6′ HDMI cables on monoprice.com are listed at $3.50 with another $3.07 for shipping. It’s 73% cheaper to buy this deal on Amazon. And I certainly don’t think the questions people were asking made them appear to be “technologically illiterate” – someone who truly fit that label wouldn’t even be able to leave a comment on a blog like Hip2Save! I think it’s great that people ask questions and get more information before making a purchase.

      • SilentBob420BMFJ

Oh, I didn’t even read the comments, just glanced at a couple, and it just immediately made me think of clueless people doing whatever the guy at Best Buy says, and spending $40 just on 2 HDMI cables. Then, they go home and hook up their new HDTV, and proceed to watch stuff that isn’t even HD, because they don’t know that you can’t just watch the same channels you were watching before. Something like 30% of all HDTV owners aren’t watching HD at all, or they’re only watching it half the time, etc., and don’t even know it.

People on here are bound to be more savvy simply due to their super couponing and computer use, I agree. Just letting everybody know about monoprice and other websites where you can spend a sliver of a fraction on cables, since I noticed some people saying thank you thank you, as if this was their only outlet.

Oh and I order 3′, not 6′, as 6′ is unnecessary for me, so that will cut down on cost as well, which is why my cables were about $2 each.

BTW, speaking of monster prices on HDMI cables, check this out:

My son bought one a couple months ago. Wanted to use to connect laptop to watch netflix. No sound will come through the tv. Any ideas??

    • E

Make sure you disable the computer speakers so it will play the sound from the tv speakers.

Control Panel > Sound > *Right click on* Speakers > Disable

After investing in my first HD TV at the Black Friday sale, I passed up the 8.99 HDMI cable and when I went to buy one in the store later I about choked. Amazon is one the cheapest places to get cables and cell phone accessories.

I had dual monitors at work and I wanted them at home but thought I needed a video card which was at least 50.00. A geek showed me how to set it up on my existing computer by using both video outputs. A 6.00 cord from Amazon and I am in business and the envy of my friends.

Same with cell phones, got a new one and they wanted 20.00+ for a case plus 10.00 for screen protectors. Ordered through Amazon for 1/4 of that.

  25. E

    Thanks bought 3.
