Toluna: Take Surveys, Test Products & Earn Money

With so many new Hip2Save readers, I thought I would mention another legitimate survey site. In addition, to being rewarded with cash for taking surveys, Toluna Panel Members also have the opportunity to test out products for FREE as a Toluna product tester! If this sounds right up your alley, then you’ll definitely want to sign up for the Toluna Panel Community!
Toluna is an online community dedicated to making your voice heard. By participating in surveys, you tell the world’s leading providers of products and services exactly what you think and you earn rewards. Plus, each month Toluna panelists are considered to test products ranging from household cleaning products, pre-packaged foods, iPads, electronic equipment, make-up, hair care products, toiletries, pet food and pet-related products, beverages, and more! If a product testing opportunity arises, you will either get an email, or will see notification when you’re on the Toluna site… you will then be required to go through a screening process to see if you are eligible to test that specific product.
Here’s how the survey portion works…
* Upon completing the Toluna registration, you will automatically be entered into the monthly $4,500 sweepstakes AND you will receive an initial 500 points!
* Survey Completion: Earn at least 1,000 points, or more, for each survey you qualify for and complete. Points awarded vary by survey. Since signing up, I have received emails on a daily basis to complete surveys valued at 2,100-9,000 points!
* Survey Participation: If you attempt to take a survey, but do not qualify for the study, you will still be rewarded with an entry to the monthly cash sweepstakes offering more chances to win…three lucky winners each month win cash prizes of $2,500, $1,000, and $500, plus two winners snag prizes of $250!
* Personal Interest Survey (Profile) Completion: You can earn additional points by completing the personal interest surveys. Each completed interest survey is worth an additional 600 points. Complete all 15 profiles to earn an additional 2,000 points over and above the points awarded for each profile!
Here’s the best part… the points you earn can then be converted into cash rewards or entries to their monthly $4,500 drawing! Basically, 3,000 points = $1. So when you have reached a minimum account balance of 60,000 points, you can request a $20 check; when you have reached a minimum account balance of 75,000 points, you can redeem your points to go shopping with a $25 VIP Gift pass voucher; or when you have reached a minimum account balance of 500 points, you can submit an entry for the $4500 monthly sweepstakes.
Here’s how the Product Testing Opportunities work…
* Once you have completed the Toluna registration, click on the Rewards tab (located in the menu bar across the top of the site) and click on Test Area
* You’ll then see the current product testing opportunities that are available (you should see an option to sign up to test the new Thierry Mugler Pen Set). Keep in mind that not everyone will qualify to test this product. If you do not qualify, you’ll have the option to sign up to test Maybelline blush and/or a Hello Kitty toothbrush in December.

I really like Toluna…I have been with Toluna since January and have received four $20 dollar checks. I get a few lower point surveys but a lot of the ones I receive are at least 6,000 points +. Not sure if it’s because of my demographic (Hispanic female, graduate degree, engineer etc…) but I am happy with them. Survey length ranges from 5 – 30 mins.
I have been a member for a few months now and have cashed out for a $25 gift card. Yes, it does take some time to receive your points and sometimes I spend 5-10 minutes only to be told that I don’t qualify but this also happens with every other survey site. Toluna is one of the only ones that I have been able to get a reward for the surveys. Most others take too long to build up the points or too little surveys are offered. I am supposed to do a product trial soon with Toluna and am waiting for it to arrive.
I’ve been a member since September 2010 and have earned $300 (and I’m about ready to cash out another $20). I’m doing better with Toluna and Opinion Outpost than with any of the other survey companies. No survey company is perfect, but this one is very good.
If you are a current Toluna member, let us know what you think and how time consuming the surveys are! Also, let us know if you have ever been selected as a product tester.
* On a side note, you may also want to check out Charity Voice Online, another company that pays you cash for surveys (and allows you to donate to your favorite charities!).

I was with Toluna for a couple of months and then quit…the surveys were too long and I was never asked to try a product. And so I gave up. Maybe for someone else it will work out…I like Pinecone Research and Mysurveys.com ill stick with those for now…Maybe in the future ill go back and try Toluna again
I agree, it used to be a good site initially. Surveys take for ever to complete and off late have become very annoying. Eg: I did one yesterday which said 1200pts (3000pts= $1) for 7 mins but took close to 35mins to complete.
I tested Bounty Paper Towels a few months ago. I didn’t know it was going to be a product test until the end of the survey.
Thanks for another great site! If you had your eye on that hellokitty toothbrush with the case. FRED’s Discount Dollar STore carries them on side racks near thetoothbrush isle for 1 dollar!!! Great stockingstuffers. I’m not sure if its the same brand..but the picture looks almost identical. Love finding hello kitty items for a buck! 🙂
This is why I love the $1 section at Target! They always have a bunch of Hello Kitty items that my daughter enjoys.
Just a reminder sign into crowdtap to see if you were chosen for the old navy outerwear. I signed in to see if there was anything for me to do and there it was I got it!! I’m level 5 and this is the first offer I have gottten Thank-you Collin for telling me about them
It won’t let me register at this time.
I get rebate checks of $20 every 3-4 months. It’s something good to do when you’re bored at night, and don’t want to go to bed quite yet. 😉
I’ve been a member for a while now, and never know about the Test area. Thanks for highlighting that, Collin!
I have been with Toluna for over a year and absolutely LOVE it! There are always plenty of surveys to do every day, and the majority of them are less than 20 minutes. I average around $60-$80 a month, plus get opportunities to test out full-sized products!
How many surveys on average you do daily. For me it seems to unrealistic to get $60-80 montly. I do get $20 twice year and I do all surveys I receive.
That does seem a bit much. I joined in June and just got my 3rd $25 Target gift card in the mail. It’s more points than the $20 check.
I belonged to Greenfield surveys before it became Toluna. Initially, I was excited about the changes and got a lot more surveys. I did get a number of high point value surveys and tried a few products. As time passed, it seemed like you devoted more effort for only $20. My biggest complaint is the number of surveys that lasted longer than 15 minutes, asked for my classification info, then the next page said I didn’t qualify for the survey!! I’m sorry but it seems like a legitimate survey that you should be rewarded the points.
I spent at least 30 min doing one of their surveys only to be informed that I didn’t quality either. Totally turned me off. There should be a better/faster way to eliminate you before you take the entire survey. I haven’t wanted to do one for their surveys since.
when you do reach the 60,000 points and request the $20….it takes FOREVER for the check to arrive in the mail. More survey companies are switching away from checks to direct deposit into your paypal account. If you don’t have one, then you are required to open one if you want to get your $$. I like it and you get an email to let you know it was deposited.
I like Toluna. It’s fine for me, I don’t do all the surveys that are sent my way but most of them. Sometimes they are long, but it’s sooo worth a try! I’ve averaged around $40 bucks in the last 3-4months. Works for me 🙂
I have had trouble getting even one $20 check. I am close in the points but it will only let me take sweepstakes surveys so I can’t get the $20! So upset that they would do this to people! I emailed them and have not gotten a response back yet! Yikes! So be careful before wasting your time.
Toluna is okay. I don’t make as much from them as I do with other companies. I’ve only tested one product and I’ve been with them for 6 months.
I too have had trouble getting a twenty dollar check! Same problem… only Sweepstakes entries. So very frustrating. I only need one more survey and they wont give it to me?!?!?! I just don’t understand why they would do this to their helpers.
There must be different categories of survey takers. I’ve been with them since June and have never seen a survey that only rewarded a sweepstakes entry.
I emailed them about problems I was having getting Surveys that weren’t just sweepstake entries and have not gotten a response. After emailing them I tried to log onto the site and it tells me my email isn’t valid! Funny thing is they send me emails!!! I think they were mad I emailed them and took me off of their site… it was a nice email too! That is just down right rude of them!!!
Thats funny… not really 🙁
Toluna sucks. It takes soooo long to earn points. Either you rarely qualify for the surveys, or you finish the survey and NEVER get the points (and yes I made complaints that went no where), or it waits till the 40th question of a survey to say you no longer qualify. There are so many better survey sites than this one.
I have been a member of Toluna for about 2 months and I am not impressed. Maybe they think I am too old. I have not be asked to test anything and most surveys let me get started then after putting in lots of info it pops up and says I didn’t qualify. So in the 2 months I have not earned enough to claim any rewards.
I think Toluna is one of the worst survey companies. I’m surprised so many people seem to like it. I stopped taking their surveys not long ago after getting burned too many times by completing a survey and not getting the points. When I would send emails to them, I would either never get a reply or get a strange, sarcastic email saying that they weren’t giving me the points. Also, there are so many typos, spelling errors and grammatical errors on the site and in the surveys. I wonder if it is run by 12 year olds?
I am another one who doesnt care for toluna… It takes way too much time.
I haven’t had a bad experience with Toluna, but I believe you all. Sometimes survey companies are pretty rude and I have had trouble with a few sites “losing” my points/earnings. I love Pinecone, and have had some luck on I-Say and Cashcrate. What other great survey sites would you all suggest?
surveyspot.com, mysurvey.com, globaltestmarket.com, valuedopinions.com, testspin.com
Stay away from Global Test Market! They are pretty scammy – let you get close to $50 and then they close your account. I have had it happen and so have several other people I have known.
wow…i’ve never had anything negative about Global Market. As soon as I reach 1000 points then I redeem them for $50 check. I’ve done that 3 times this year and very close to redeeming this month. I’ve gotten to test products 5 times this year – which helps to get the larger point amount surveys. It takes the 4-6wks to get the check and this is stated on the website. It’s about the same drawn out delay with Toluna’s checks. I really wish that more market research companies give you the option to deposit into Paypal instead of a check by snail mail.
I am really sorry that you’ve had major issues!
Thanks for the info – I don’t know what happened with me then. I am glad you had such good luck with it. Surveys are a great way to make a little fun money for sure.
opinion outpost is a great site!
I also do mysurvey, myview, Pinecone, i-say, and a few others.
My favorite way to get free gift cards & cash is from Zoombucks though!
Colleen! I have been a Toluna member for almost 2 years., and I had no clue, knew absolutely nothing about the Tester tab. THANK YOU!!!!! I agree with others though: lately, I haven’t been doing much through Toluna, the point value has dropped per lenghty surveys (the same goes for OpinionOutpost, actually), but at least it’s super easy to redeem points and you don’t have to wait forever like Surveysavvy (I requested a check about 4 wks ago) and SureyNation (requested giftcard over a month ago still waiting)
I have enjoyed Toluna. I am surprised by all of the negative feedback. I never knew about the Test Area. I can’t believe I have been missing out on that for this long!
My $20 checks have actually come really quickly. I think the site normally says something like 4-6 weeks, but I have definitely received them within about 2 weeks from when I requested.
Initially I didn’t put in much time, because I was busy with school, and so it took a long time to earn enough points for a check. But now that I have been unemployed, I have added this to my daily work of applying for jobs and clearing out my closets to get rid of things on Ebay. It’s not much, but every little bit helps when I don’t have any other sort of income. I spend a bit of time every day answering just a few surveys. I also always make sure to answer any polls on the home page that are worth points because these take only a few seconds and usually are worth 15 or 30 points. Not a lot, but for just a second of time, they really add up. Also, sometimes these are a quick pre-screen that leads to a lengthier survey.
I have sometimes had the issue of spending a lot of time answering questions only to be later rejected. But this has been pretty infrequent so it hasn’t turned me off to the site.
Very frustrated with this survey site. Been answering for over six months, most times the response is ‘sorry, quota filled’. I’ve only accumulated half the points needed for a cash reward. Never been asked to test a product. Much prefer ipso i-say and valued opinions.
some surveys are like $1/30min… just skip it, if I were you
I disqualified about 60% total surveys I took
