Hip2Save This Holiday: The Gift of Batteries
Have you ever been caught on Christmas morning without batteries? Here’s a cute way to make sure your friends don’t end up in the same boat!
Hip2Save This Holiday Guest Post Submitted By Reader Carlie…
This year for our neighbor gifts we decided to spend big… NOTHING (yes, we love our coupons)!!!! So what is the gift? Batteries! Who doesn’t need batteries?
Just tie a cute saying onto the batteries with some ribbon and you have a nice neighbor gift that is practical AND frugal… especially if you can find batteries on sale and/or pair with a coupon!
Here is the saying for the gift tag:
Twas the night before Christmas and Santa was worried,
he had an emergency, and boy was he flurried.
The power was off, and his flashlight was dead.
He didn’t buy batteries when Mrs. Santa said.
We don’t want you in a similar plight, so we give you batteries to lighten your night.
Merry Christmas to you, may you walk in the light! 🙂

great idea! I have acquired many packs from Staples FREE After rewards but they are gigantic packs. Clever.
I agree it is great idea. I too have bought a few giant packs. Is there a clever way to break up these large packs into small attractive packages (break up 20 pack into 5 4-packs for example)?
Get the little cellophane bags and put the amount of batteries you want in the bag. Tie the saying on with some cute Christmas ribbon. Don’t forget to add some cute crinkle/confetti paper to the bottom of the bag!
What about maybe into cute holiday packaging w/ clear cellophane and pretty ribbon? it’s worth a try!
That is so cute, what a great idea- no more crying kids without batteries!!! 🙂
Don’t forget that Toys R Us has an online promo with their Toys R Us brand batteries which are on sale for $6.99 and BOGO free plus free shipping through Shop Runner. AA and AAA have 20 in a pack, so you get 40 for only $6.99 tax shipped to your door. Good to stock up for Christmas toys! You have to do a search for Toys R Us batteries to find them.
Thanks for the info!! 🙂
Thanks Bfam… I just went to toysrus.com and bought some!
Thanks.
Thanks, I just ordered some too.
Thank you SO much for that heads up!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! only wish we could order more than 2 packs?! free shipping cost only came to $7.48 for 40 batteries!:)
This is an awesome idea 😀
Home Depot will have a Black Friday deal of a 48 pack Of Rayovac AA & AAA for $7.88.
wow thats great. i think our 99 cent store has the Panasonic brand [i think] 8 pack for $0.99 so only $6 for 48. I wonder if the home Depot Rayovac ones are better quality with “more juice”??
Such a great gift idea and a super cute poem!
Love this idea. I give flashlights all the time for presents – so practical. Can never have too many, and especially batteries for them =)
also, 2 current deals going on that I scored. CVS has their batteries BOGO or $3.99 for the big packs (size D, 8-ct) and I’m fortunate my CVS still allows expired CVS coupons (used $2 off any size in Halloween packs from kiddos). Kroger also has Durracell batteries $1.99, only $.49 for the small pack after $.75 MQ doubles.
What a clever idea, and I just love the poem! Thanks!
Also, Toys for Tots accepts batteries as donations.
What a cute idea.
Batteries are a good thing to donate, we do a Christmas sharing tree at our church, and I was amazed how many kids asked for batteries, because they are an expensive item that is not in everyones budget. I try to make sure to include extra batteries in all the toys I donate!
Thank you Collin for posting my idea and the $25.00 GC!!! We just had a new baby born 6 days ago so this gift card will come in handy:) Thanks again!
Aww congrats on your new baby!! And thanks for the cute idea! 🙂
