  I’ve had both a cricut and a cameo and the cameo is better by far. I don’t know how good the new cricuts are but I will never go back.

  Neither need cartridges now. But you will need reliable internet to cut anything with the cricut. All software and stores projects are web based.

   The new Cricut machines don’t use cartridges either. I’m not sure about the Silhouette, but I have the Cricut Explore Air and love it!!!

   I’ve read reviews on both. Both have great reviews so you can’t go wrong. I’ve read Cricuts can cut through a variety of materials because it has a deeper blade. I’ve read silhouette has better, more user friendly software.

   I just bought a cricut air yesterday on Walmart for about $140! But it’s a slightly older model. So tempting to get this and return the cricut but I don’t know!!! Both have the online software program which I like.

  Cameo doesn’t use an online program. Everything is downloaded to your computer.
