I was going to get this deal – but after reading reviews that this machine is more high maintenance – I’m passing.

Yes it does. I use my own coffee all the time. Just had to buy the refillable cup 😀

There are generic k cups on the market – not made by keurig. This machine won’t take those
Google freedom clip. It keeps keurig from stopping you from using other brands. You just insert it in. It should be free for the first one. I know other people sold them for like 3$. I believe, I could be mistaken that San Fransisco coffee was the one that developed it.
What Laura said. My favorite K cup is a SanFrancisco Bay brand, not a Keurig brand, so if I put my fave in this machine, it will give an error message. This is because this machine reads a “code” hidden in the top of all Keurig KCups will only work with those that have the code.
Google freedom clip. A company developed it to stop keurig from this. You just insert it in. First one is free.
I’ve been ready the non k cup comments. So nervous now. Does anyone have this machine and use generic k cups without an issue??
Keurig company came out with this series and made the machine so it only reads the lids of their own brand Kcups. Their customers got mad and this series sat on the shelf. Bc of the backlash, Keurig went back to manufacturing their machines the original way-where it was compatible with all types of cups. If you stick a non Keurig Kcup in it, the machine will give an error message. I saw a youtube video online where a person just stuck the lid of a Keurig K cup over the top of the non Keurig Kcup to trick the machine into reading it as one of their own. I drink non Keurig brand K cups all the time and didn’t want to mess with this, so I returned this for a newer model.
A coffee company developed something called a freedom clip to prevent keurig from doing this. When I got it they gave them free. One per household. I believe they still do it. Other people sold theirs for like 3$. You just insert it into the machine and it reads all cups. It become a hassle to create our own lid so this was a god send!
I have this one and use non Keurig cups. They make a “screen” that clips in to block the reader so it does not recognize that the cup you are brewing isn’t Keurig.
