What an awesome deal! We have this one and I highly recommend it! Super easy to use and with a family of 6 I have yet to replace the batteries.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Glad to hear how well it works Kelly! Thanks so much for your feedback!

2/20/17- I just called Exergen Corporation. One rebate is for the purchaser, the other rebate is for the recipient of the thermometer. It has to be two different names and two different addresses to get two $10 rebates. The rebate form is an extremely simple box format. No graphics. But it is a valid rebate form on their website.
      Exp. 6/17.

  2. Ashley

Thank you! Our last one broke and I needed one of these. My Costco membership is expired, but I was still able to order with a small non-member fee of $1.65!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re very welcome Ashley!

  3. Nicole

Will you get a prepaid for to buy only exergen product, or is it gonna be a visa card?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi there! I am not certain as it is not listed in the details.

      • Jocelyn

Can you submit mother’s and friends & family rebates together with just one receipt?

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi Jocelyn! One rebate requires the receipt and the other requires the barcode from the package. Hope this helps!

  5. Ashley

Definitely going to try and score one, thanks for the post!

      YW!

I am reading recent reviews on Amazon and it seemed to have a lot of mixed review from whether a person use it inaccurately, or the temperature shows inaccurately. Other reviews show how easy it is. I would greatly appreciate any feedback for those who use them. I’m debating whether to buy or not as I’m looking for digital version. THank you for your time.

    • Kristy

We have this thermometer and love it. As long as you use it properly, it’s very accurate. There are good directions that come with the thermometer.

    • Lisa

I hate to discourage someone from a good deal, and others seem to love it, but I had registered for this at my baby shower, and ended up hating it. When the baby is a newborn/infant, the most accurate way to check their temp is rectally, which can be done with a basic inexpensive thermometer, so I couldn’t use it for that. When my son got a little older and I started using this one more, I ended up hating it. I would always screw up the modes, and could never figure out how to fix it. I also could never get a good smooth swipe across his forehead because he wiggles, and never got an accurate temp. Even when I tried it on myself and DID get a smooth swipe, it never seemed right. I read ear thermometers are the easiest to use and most accurate, so I recently tossed this one and bought an ear one, and wish I had just started out with that! MUCH easier to use and I have a lot more confidence in it! Hope the feedback helps!

      • Kimberly N

Thank you for both feedback as I’m welcome to all. I did wanted to know about ear thermometer as well.

        • Emilie Craig

I also find that even when using this on myself, I get 5 different readings at times. My son has the flu now and when using it on him earlier, I got everything from 99-105. Not very accurate and I am using it exactly how it says.

          • Bre

I’m a neonatal nurse and wouldn’t recommend rectal temps ever. You can puncture the rectum and cause damage. If temporal isn’t reading correctly try the armpit!

            • Skbmd2003

Pediatrician here. We always advise parents to take rectal temperatures under 3 months. Risk of puncture is extremely rare. Insert rectal thermometer only until silver at end is just inside rectum–not length of thermometer. Most accurate in every study out there.

            • riss

ER nurse here, and we always do rectal temp for kids 2 and below if the chief complaint was fever (maybe it depends on the hospital policy?), otherwise temporal temp is ok.

    • Luna

We have two of these one for our child and the other one for us. It is easy to use as long as you don’t meddle with it too much which happens when my daughter wants to take her own temperature…the settings go haywire but all I ever really needed to do then was to change from Celsius to Fahrenheit. And you have to wait just a little bit before you want to keep checking your temperature again and again which we tend to when sick. I would buy it again for this price without hesitation. Not sure about any other brand but have it since 4yrs

    • Rochelle

I don’t think it’s accurate. It is always at least 1-2 degrees off (always cooler) an oral or anal reading. Its nice in theory, but I rarely use it anymore because I simply don’t trust it, especially with my younger children.

    • chaeysa

I tried it and wound up returning it. It gave a low reading when I knew my daughter felt warm so I used a regular thermometer and she had a temp over 103.

    • CW

I just bought one. The Exergen said 98.2, my Braun Exact Temp Ear Thermometer said 99.6.

So not sure it’s really that great. My doctors use the Braun

The rebates say not valid with any other offer. Ae you sure you will get both $10 rebates per item.

Do you send both of the rebates together or separately?

  9. Mandy

Just to ensure I understand… We can use the same receipt for both rebates? They are asking for the original sales receipt, so I guess we have to request 2, is that correct?

    • Tiffany

i noticed the one rebate needed the barcode from the box and the other the original sales receipt.

I have this and it’s great. Bought it at Costco after the holidays. Glad I did because my kids got the flu a week later.
I asked our school nurse about what she uses, and she said there really isn’t a fantastic thermometer to purchase that isn’t hospital grade. I’d highly recommend this one. The rebate situation looks confusing but it’s an awesome deal if someone can figure it out. Buy it or you’ll need it next week! :/

  11. tracie mann

You can only use 1 rebate, it states on the rebate form. I called Exergen and they said you have to cut off the bar code no photo copies so it wont work on both rebates. Only 1 rebate per thermometer purchased.

    • Evan

One rebate is for the receipt(gifter), and the other rebate is for the barcode(gift receiver).

      • Mandy

Great Catch!! Thank you so much for pointing this out!

      • Kimberly N

Good catch. Now question is how to fill out if we want to redeem BOTH? Cant be gifter and receiver, can we?

  12. Shellie H

Can we use both rebates if it says “Cannot be combined with any other offer”?

  13. Shellie H

One rebate asks for the bar code. The other one asks for the original sales receipt, so it could work if they accept both.

  14. Katie

We have had this thermometer for 3 years with no issues until recently when it clearly doesn’t measure temperatures correctly. I did like it when it worked.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sorry to hear it has stopped working for you Katie! Thanks for the feedback!

  15. maflies1

So can you order from Costco if you are not a member? Just wanting to be sure & thanks in advance.

  16. jessica

Does the $8.00 instant savings require a coupon?

    • Kimberly N

It is automatic deduct as is it manufactor coupon.

  17. Tanya C

I have to agree with others on this. I bought this from Costco and got the rebates. It seemed like such a great deal. It’s super easy to use, but when my 5 month old son had a high fever, the readings from this thermometer were always different and ranging from 99-102 degrees. We ended up checking his temperature rectally, and he had a 104 degree temperature! I think we’ll end up buying a different thermometer, but an ear thermometer.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Darn! Sorry to hear that the temperatures varied. Thanks for the honest review Tanya!

  18. Dhill

I have this thermometer and love it. I bought it last year and was able to use both rebates with no problem!! Got $20 back

    • Red Goldfish

I was also able to use both rebates without a problem.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Perfect! Thanks for sharing! πŸ™‚

      • Vironika

I wonder–in previous promotions did the rebates say “Limit one rebate per item?”
I bought it, happy to keep it, sending rebates and crossing fingers-just curious. πŸ™‚

  19. A.Gold

I bought these the last time the promotion was listed. I bought three and used them for shower gifts. All the recipients loved them. I used all of the rebates with no problem and they came pretty fast.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh good! Super glad to hear you have been able to snag these rebates!! Thanks so much for sharing your experience!

    • Nicole

Do you put those rebates forms and receipt and barcode in one envelop or do you mail them seperately?

  20. Sandy

Bought one from Costco and so disappointed. I had to refer to the directions countless times and the settings would always get messed up. I would swipe across the forehead multiple times times with no results or just blinking screen or inaccurate readings. Not worth your time or the struggle. I returned it and went back to the old school oral thermometer

  21. Mandi

I can’t believe there are so many negative comments on this thermometer? I love ours!!! My pediatrician used this exact one in her office when I had my first (of three πŸ™‚ ) son(s). My firstborn had CRAZY high – almost monthly – fevers (up to 107!!!) and my pediatrician asked if I would buy the exact one she used so to be sure I was always getting an accurate reading before rushing off to the ER – it has always been accurate and we have purchased a few more to keep at relatives houses and around our house so we can always find one. This particular type of thermometer measures the blood temperature of the temporal artery – which is the most accurate source of body temp. Ear thermometers are difficult to place in the precise spot needed for an accurate reading, rectal readings often lag when fevers are present, underarm readings can be altered by blood flow changes (movement) and oral readings are affected by talking, eating, coughing, mouth breathing, etc. There are a few things to consider when doing a temporal scan reading – like scan skin area that is exposed to ambient air, do not do multiple scans as that can lower the skin temp, and do not scan an area with visible sweat. Maybe if someone has trouble – they could bring it along to their next pediatrician visit to make sure it is reading accurately and is being used properly. I paid over $50 when these for first available to me about 12 years ago – and would have paid double that. This provided us with accurate readings when all other methods failed to be consistent/accurate or able to be administered in upset/sick child moments – many others wouldn’t even give a reading once it was over 105. This is the only thermometer we trust.

  22. Chris

Thanks for the post! We bought it yesterday and it works great. It even works on the dog on her tummy (where there is no fur).

  23. Hui Chen

Anyone know if I can use the same name to get both rebate? Or do I need to use my husband’s name to get one of the rebate? Thanks.

    • Hui Chen

One more question, can I mail both of the rebate in one envelope? Or do I need to mail them separately? Thanks.

  24. Ashley

Just got my check in the mail for the $20 rebate. Thankyou
