      Thanks for the feedback! 😉

The Dollar Tree has some amazing Easter deals. Just an FYI that Walmart has packs of plastic eggs for $.88 or $.89… I can’t remember the exact amount. I just know that I made a mental note because I like to compare between stores before buying basket fillers. I really appreciate this post, it saves me a lot of time from having to go in and see what the Dollar Tree has. Thank you for all of the time saving deals!!!
Does anyone else feel like they got so many great deals at Christmas time and feel like your kids have too many toys? I am trying to come up with some great Easter gifts that are practical, yet fun for my kiddos. I did see a very neat backyard domino set on Oriental Trading that I thought would be something fun for the kids outside. If you know of any good Oriental Trading deals or practical ideas, could you please post? Thanks!

We are doing 1 or 2 small toys/games that they really want along with a few books to read or have read to them, a special activity book (like a sticker book from usborne or their flashlight books), and a couple of movies – my kids love movies. I’ll also put in a little bit of their fav candy but they usually get so much candy from egg hunt that I don’t like buying more. Oh and they r each getting a new disney infinity figure (got them for $1 each) and/or skylander. Little things like nail polish and hotwheels or lego figures r good fillers too

Great ideas, thank you for sharing. I really like the movie ideas. My kids like to watch movies on car rides and I am a little tired of Frozen so a new movie for each would be perfect. 🙂

          Bubbles! Sand buckets, sunglasses.

    • Adrienne

Swim goggles and summer swim toys!

    • Mel

My kids have March & April bdays.. so Easter is very low-key! When they were younger, they got activity books, chalk, stencil sets, watercolors, swim trunks/goggles, beach blankets, tee shirt, sunglasses, flip flops or sandals, hit movie cartoon on DVD, games that can be played outside (like horseshoes, bottle rings, toss across). Now that they’re older, they still get a small basket with their favorite candy, eggs are filled with dollar bills (maybe a $5 or $10!), and usually an outfit (cargo shorts & a short sleeve button shirt or polo)

My younger kids get a new T-shirt for summer in their Easter basket and maybe sunglasses. I put a small gift card for ice cream for the teenagers. Sometimes a $2 bill in a plastic egg can be super exciting for kids.

When they were little I would do sunglasses, flip flops, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, flower seeds, water balloons, jump rope, play balls. All outdoorsy things and one bigger item like a new football or fishing rod. I skip candy but give slim Jim’s or cracker jacks stuff like that because the grandparents love to buy candy.😵

        I love the seeds idea!

    • Ashley

My kids get spring/summer items in their basket, an outfit for spring or pair of sandals, sunglasses, a book etc. I often feel the same way after the holidays… no more junky toys bogging our house down!!

    • Laura

I also put some warm-weather items in my daughter’s basket (new bathing suit, beach towel, sidewalk chalk, etc.). Books, coloring books, new crayons and play-doh are some other ideas. Art and/or craft supplies and gift cards for movies or iTunes are some other ideas for older kids. I like to get things that are useful or get used-up to avoid adding too much to the mountain of toys she’s received as gifts or hand-me-downs.

I found easter rubix cubes and circular ones there. My kids are really into them right now.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Cute find! Thanks for sharing!

  4. Amy

I’m doing books in our Easter baskets. And also some activity pads that were purchased on clearance last Easter at 75% – 90% off.

  5. hellfire gainz

We don’t do easter baskets as its not budget friendly for our tribe of kids. However, once a year we do a giant egg hunt for our kids and some neighborhood kids. Over 500 eggs stuffed. Thanks to deals I snag cheap all year and of course the 90% off target deals. I save all my eggs for reusing. Have the tiniest eggs and the gigantic eggs bought all on clearance.

  6. Lorri

How about a book on Easter and its meaning?

  7. Ashley

My kids are all girls so this may not work as well with boys😄. But my girls get all their summer stuff I would get them anyway. Like sandals, clothes and swimsuits. I buy most of that throughout the year as I find it on sale. And it’s things they need and I have to purchase anyway. But because it’s in their baskets it feels like something special 😄. I also get a small amount of candy so it’s not only things to wear.

  8. Bd

I feel like Easter baskets have almost turned into second Christmas! Like a few others said, I don’t really like buying candy as it’s bad for you and expensive, but I remember as a kid getting candy filled eggs and a few smaller things, like jacks, sunglasses not a bunch of gifts…the real excitement was the egg hunt! We’d rehide the eggs over and over…my kids are getting older, so a pair of flip flops, tshirt they would like and a very small amount of candy as they are too old now for egg hunts

  9. Libby

In the past I’ve gotten my girls Easter Sunday Church outfit accessories like white gloves, small purses, hair bows, etc.

  10. Mary

I love this store it is great place

  11. Holly

does anyone happen to know the upc or sku number of the owl lotion i really want to order a case but can’t seem to locate them anywhere…. thanks!!

  12. Paula

I’m sorry I can not help with the sku Holly. But, wanted to say I know how you feel. I found these wonderful glass bottles ( coke bottle shaped) with lids with the hole in the top and cute striped hard plastic straws that were perfect for my daughters baby shower I was throwing her. I drove to every DT in my area, my daughters city, a nearby cities and there were none to be found. Not in any color straws (I was looking for pink as she was having a girl) at all. I called DT but they couldn’t locate them, even with the provided sku from my other bottles I purchased. I just wanted you to know you weren’t alone and that I hope you find them. I am on the hunt for 1 of the owl lotions as well in my area of FL.
