Is this different from crayon?
Yes! These are a bit softer and can blend! Hope that helps!
Thank you, Amber.
You’re very welcome!
These are also a perfect alternative to paint when using a canvas. I bought these last time around and I’m going to get more. It’s less messy than paint and washes off our little ones hands easily.
Oh yes! I agree! My kiddos and I have really liked these too! Thanks for the helpful feedback!
Does anyone have a frugal alternative to expensive canvases? My daughter loves art and a plethora of supplies. I want to encourage her but don’t want to break the bank either. Thanks
*Has a plethora of supplies
Oil pastels can be used on other surfaces besides canvas! Paper, wood, rock, glass, etc. And by mixing the media, it might open up some creativity to a budding artist! But if you’re really looking for canvas, Joann and Michaels offer frequent deals for canvases through coupons or sales. Just keep watching the ads and this board.
Have you looked at Hobby Lobby for canvases? We just purchased a bunch for my FIL for Christmas and got a 10 pack of 8×10’s for $9.99 and a 7 pack of 11×14’s for $9.99. They also had a multi pack of 16×20’s but I don’t remember how many came in the package.
I think I’ve seen small canvases at Dollar Tree but it’s been a while. I think it was over the summer. These were small (bigger than a 4×6 but smaller than an 8×10). Anyone know what I’m talking about?
Yes! I just got some at dollar tree for my nephew’s art bucket and stocking stuffers for my boys. They had one 8×10, pack of 2 5×7 and pack of 3 4×6! May not be as thick of a canvas but what a steal of a deal for $1!
I have seen different sized small and medium canvases at Dollar Tree with the other kids crafts supplies!
Great find, SunshineSal!
Thank you all for your responses! I’ll have to look for them the next time I’m in Dollar Tree.
