Starting June 1st through June 30th, teachers and school personnel can score FREE admission to Silver Dollar City in Branson Missouri ($68 value).
Even better, teachers and personnel can purchase up to four half-price one-day tickets ($34 plus tax). These tickets can be purchased for immediate family (spouse and/or children under 18 living in the same household) OR one guest of their choice.
Please note, teachers and school personnel must present a valid 2019 school photo ID OR an official school paycheck stub (dated within the past 30 days) and a photo I.D. at the Silver Dollar City front gate to receive a one-day ticket to be used day of purchase.

Did you ever find out if you can get in as a homeschool teacher? We have coop cards but, I hate to drive 5 hours to not get the discount.

Sorry… I don’t mean to disrespect anyone in this threat. But there are a few differences between a school teacher vs a home-school teacher.
1, A home-school teacher is only required a HS diploma or GED while a school teacher usually has at least a Bachelor’s degree, or even Master’s Degree.
2, A home-school teacher is taking care only 1 or 2 of their own kids while a school teacher has to take care of a lot of kids and deal with a lot of [difficult] parents.
The list goes on. My point is that a school teacher scarifies a lot (time, money, and energy), so this is a way these parks show their appreciation to these teachers. Let them be awarded for their work in a special way.
My partner is currently a 5th grade teacher even though he signed up for 2nd grade. The school was short of staff in the middle of the year when he applied, so he agreed to help out. I’ve heard up and down stories that he had to go through every day. I’m admired him for his patience and love he has for the kids. Teachers are underpaid and under-recognized. We don’t live in MO so he can’t go, but it’s nice of them to do this for teachers.
1. I have my doctorate. Not a bachelors or masters.
2. I have 6 kids. Not 1 to 2.
3. I sacrifice my time, energy and money by homeschooling all of my kids and not making a 6-figure salary.
4. I wouldn’t consider myself any “more” of a teacher, even though I have a higher degree to teach my children than most have to teach K-12.
5. Perhaps keep your narrow-minded comments about homeschooling moms not being “real teachers” to yourself as you should be ashamed not to encourage any and all educators, regardless of their degree, level of expertise and manner in which they teach.

1, First off, if I offended you or anyone in here, I am sorry. As I said in my first sentence, no mean to disrespect anyone. I stated some thoughts, nowhere in my comment I would degrade any types of teacher. I did not call you “not real” teacher either. I just compared school teacher vs home-school teacher. Is that what we all call? If we call something else, please educate me. I really didn’t know what other words to use.
2, You took my words so literally. You have a docterate degree, I admire you for that, but you shouldn’t look down on other people. I have an MBA but I think teachers who have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree are much knowledgeable than me. They stand up in the front of kids/people to teach. I can’t do that myself, just not good at it. Again, much respect for them.
3, I give ALL teachers a lot of credits for their big hearts and patience with these kids. You have 6 kids, congratulations! However teaching your own kids is easier than teaching other people’s kids. I hope you realize that.
4, Btw for your record, teachers here in FL do not make 6-figure salary, and even less than 50K. If you sacrifice that “much”, why don’t you use your high education, knowledge and skills to help those kids who need to learn. There are always vacant positions for teachers in the US.
5, I was speaking of the majority of school teachers and home-school teachers, not anyone particular. Your situation might be special with PhD and 6 kids, but not everyone is the same. I don’t blame you for calling me narrow-minded because I did not know people with situations like you before reading your comment, to be honest.
*** All I am saying here is to try to give school teachers a little more credits. They wake up early to make teaching plan, bring tests home to grade, break into kid fights, deal with troubled kids, ect. (A lot of them)

Totally agree! Real teachers are so much different and sacrifice so much more than homeschoolers. Many times they do offer the discounts to both. If they don’t this time then just wait till the next time.

Do you realize how much it costs to homeschool? We pay local property taxes (thousands of dollars) per year to support our local public school system, while simultaneously pay to homeschool our children (no tax breaks).
I hold two bachelors degrees in two totally separate areas of study.
Additionally, I have four children, not 1-2. I actually don’t know ANY homeschoolers that only school 1-2 kids.
Finally, I dedicated my life (pre-children) to working in the public school system. I’ve paid my dues. It’s a broken system, and my children deserve better. I volunteer for our local 4-H club and deal with my share of difficult parents (yes, I have over 25 “students” over 4 project areas). If you don’t feel I deserve to be included as a teacher…so be it…but I think you should keep your opinion to yourself.
PS- “Scarifies” is not a word. Sounds kinda cool though…
1, You sound like a good teacher to your children. Teaching at home is your choice. Nobody forces you. You pay tax to support education system, thank you! There are many people who have no children but still pay tax to support the education system for their whole lives.
2, Please read my other comment above. Again, if I offended you, I apologize. If your situation is special, I understand now. I don’t know many people who homeschool. Your comment has given me more knowledge. If I don’t speak out, I learn nothing… forever. So it’s good to speak up your opinion, right? I hope your kids learn that.
3, My whole point was not to disrespect any home-school teachers, but just wanted to appreciate our ordinary school teachers more. That’s all. They all can quit their job to get a more well-paid job, or to teach their kids at home like you, then who is left in the field? Nobody. Same happens to nurses, doctors, first responders, even people who pick up trash. I just wanted to give them a little more credits than they deserve.
P/S: I somehow misspelled a word. Studies has proved that smart brains can read misspelled words in a complete sentence. I am not writing an essay or report so misspelling a word is not a big deal at all. Plus, English is not my first language so I think what I wrote was pretty understandable. No need to make fun of me on that word.

Hi Amelia, I’m so sorry, I was mistaken, it is just police/police staff week. I know they have had fireman day(s) before, maybe give them a call and ask about it.
LOLOL– Lisa I guess I am just striking out with Silver Dollar City this year!! Haha. We bought season passes for our family of six last year and used it a lot so it’s all good!! They are generous to offer this to different groups of public servants!! They did offer passes to firemen when they opened Fireman’s Landing several years ago!!! 🙂
