$20 Off Relay Screen-Free Kids Phone at Target | Play-Proof Design w/ GPS Tracking & More
Power of a Phone + Functionality of a Walkie Talkie = Relay for Kids!
Through September 14th or while supplies last, hop on over to Target.com and score the Relay Screenless Phone/Walkie Talkie & GPS Tracker for just $29.99 (regularly $49.99) – that’s a savings of $20 off the regular price!
Different from a smartphone or kid tracker, Relay is screenless so there is no texting, cameras, or internet access which means you won’t have any more screen time concerns! Plus Relay is built for rough play so kids can throw it, step on it and even get it wet!
To use the Relay device, kids simply press one button to talk, kind of like a walkie-talkie, and then parents/caretakers/older siblings can reply using the free Relay app on their smartphone. Kids will be able to reach any combination of pre-approved contacts including one-on-one chats as well as an everyone chat that can be set up when the account is created.
And if you call your child while they are busy, you can leave them a message that they can check at any time just like voicemail!
Relay also offers integrated GPS location tracking so you can see your kid’s location right on your phone without interrupting their fun. And if your kiddo ever needs help, they can use the SOS function to immediately send you an alert and their location by simply pressing the button. Parents can also set up Geofences which alert you when your child leaves a certain area!
Relay has the range of a cell phone so you can make calls from all the way across the country. It uses both 4G LTE and WiFi – connect your Relays to WiFi through the app on your smartphone and after that, they’ll automatically connect when in range, switching from 4G LTE to WiFi as needed.
Note that Relay is only available in the U.S. at this time (excluding Alaska and Hawaii) and does require a $9.99 per month service charge (independent from your normal cell phone service bill); however there is no contract required so you can cancel at any time!
Do you use something other than a phone to call or track your kiddo?

Yes
To understand, if you need to reach your child, you are able to leave them a message. If your child needs to reach you, they can leave you a message as well. Is there no actual speaking to the child/parent directly?
Hope my question makes sense.
To speak directly you would need to leave the app open and running on your phone at all times in which case if you were working and your child is doing a direct chat their audio would come through with no warning which might not work for parents in a work setting. We ended up returning ours after a few days because it wasn’t what we hoped for.
So i guess it will need a sim card to gps locate and if not using wifi?
You don’t need to order a separate SIM card, it comes with everything you need but you pay a monthly subscription fee to relay, I think it was $9.99
Ty…thats what i thought. These trackers would make u pay subscription
We got one on a prime day deal and really like it so far. It is easier to use on a specific “channel” I think because otherwise you do have to have the app open. However, I love that multiple people can have the app. My daughter can talk to Grandpa if she has an issue with school pick up.
Thanks so much for giving us some feedback on this! Really glad it works so well for you, Cassy!
This sounds like non smart phones we used to have a decade ago lol
If anybody is look for a cheap phone to just to reach their child (no GPS or Smart phone) then check out Tello. We picked up a phone for about $25 and bought a prepaid plan for voice calls and texting. There are also monthly plans starting at $5/month…everything is pretty affordable.
Thanks a bunch for the helpful suggestion!
How is the network coverage? I am looking for something similar.
So far it’s been good. But we’ve only had the service for a month or so. I believe they use Sprint’s network.
They use multiple networks. Sprint didn’t work on ours and they quickly (and no charge) sent a new att one that does work!
Thank you!! We already have sprint but if you want to add a line it’s $35 more.
We have Tello. It’s awesome. I bought a phone for around $25 also, and put $10 on the phone. The kids have called me plenty of times and I still have a balance of almost $8 left. I’ve had them for almost a year and never had a problem.
Could you please share where did you get the phone and plan? My kid will be in middle school this year. We’re thinking about getting one for him. Thanks.
I’m not able to find online where it’s prepaid, only plans with Tello. Maybe this isn’t available anymore? do I have to be a Sprint customer? Where did you buy the phone?
Also, if you click on the top right there is a menu where you will see “pay as you go.”
Hi there. Thanks for mentioning Tello. It is exactly what I need for my 6th grader. Would you be willing to send me your referral link. I see we would both get $10 if you do. That would be awesome. I’m ashbaybey at gmail dot com TIA
Thank you for mentioning Tello. I’ve been looking for something to keep in contact with my 5th grader in emergency situations and for school pick up changes. Without adding another $50 a month. I am definitely going to looking into this.
Thank you. This is what I needed!!
Oh perfect! You’re welcome, Maria!
Can this call 911? Does it need WiFi to work?
