How does the program work?
Publishing your own book couldn’t be easier! You can have a book in just 4 simple steps:
- Order your FREE kit and choose a publishing date
- Within 7-10 days your kit arrives and students can fill out their pages
- Gather and send in your materials and parent order forms one week before your publishing date
- In 20 days, you’ll receive your FREE teacher’s copy of the classbook (& parent’s will receive their paid copies)
Teachers can get the process started by heading on over to the Studenttreasures Publishing website.
Here you can order a FREE publishing kit, choose a publishing date, and select a kit layout that best suits your students’ needs. Within 7 to 10 days, your kit will arrive in the mail.
The kit has everything you need to create a classbook, a collaborative piece of work between your students. Once you have the kit, each student can contribute a page of writing and/or illustrations. They can draw directly on the pages or even paste in pictures or make a collage.
If you’d like your book and students’ work to have a cohesive theme, Studentteasures Publishing offers several book topic ideas to help get you started.
A week before your publishing date, collect everyone’s pages and any parent order forms (parents can buy copies starting at $22.95). Use the prepaid label to submit all your materials.
Within 20 days, you’ll receive your FREE hardcover teacher’s copy of the classbook. It’s that simple!

There are other goodies and opportunities available to you when you order a FREE publishing kit for your classroom. These include:
- A $25 Amazon Gift Card if 20+ parents order copies.
- A chance to win thousands of dollars in school grants if you publish from October to February.
- Automatic entry into the National Book Challenge and the chance to win up to $5,000 in grants if you publish by May 31st.
What is the #NationalBookChallenge?
All classrooms who published a book by May 31st are entered into the National Book Challenge contest.
Up to 50 finalists are selected by a panel of judges. These finalists win a $50 Gift Card, a printable certificate featuring their book cover, and a participation ribbon.
Meanwhile, the top winners receive their book, a winner ribbon, a certificate, and one of the following:
- A $500 school grant to the third-place winner.
- A $1,000 school grant to the second-place winner.
- A $5,000 school grant to the grand prize winner.
Between publishing a book and possibly winning a contest, there is a lot for kids to be excited about! What a fun and thrilling way for young students to build self-esteem and develop a love for writing and literature!
