This is a great steamer for cooking vegetables (I haven’t tried meat, poultry or fish yet) for up to 3-4 people, depending on their appetites. Other microwave steamers I’ve used ‘sag’ when taking them out of the microwave. This one doesn’t, so as long as hands are protected from the hot plastic, it’s safe to get to a firm surface so the contents can be served. The cooking time “suggestions” are just suggestions so you’ll have to judge for yourself the cooking times, depending on how ‘al dented’ you/your family likes their veggies.

I was very surprised at the quality, ease of use, and love that it is dishwasher safe. I appreciate the generous handles are not hot when removing from microwave. I season the 2 Tablespoons of water or liquid you put in the bottom, add veggie to steamer tray, microwave, and then mix the veggies with the seasoned liquid when finished.
