I own a half dozen backpacks, all specialized for different needs. This Marmot bag is now my favorite and everyday work bag: it fits a 15″ MacBook Pro perfectly and has enough room for misc. stuff yet is still remarkably low profile. It has *just enough* compartments for pens and other small items. The best thing: the quality of the top flap. Incredibly easy to get things in and out, secure, waterproof, and looks very professional and very, very high quality. This bag has my highest possible recommendation.

The Marmot Slate is a lightweight bag that is trim and stylish, well made, and well designed. It has a lightly padded section for a laptop (up to 15 inches) and an organizer sleeve for pens, cards, ID, and a side pocket for a water bottle. The pocket is top-loading so you do not have to worry about it coming unzipped. The back is lined with mesh to keep you cool and the straps are lightly padded. The main compartment is large enough for several books. The top flap provides good coverage, and it is water-resistant, made with medium-weight nylon which can bear a load.

When my daughter looked at it she said it was the ideal bag for the campus. It has space for everything you need, organized so you can find it easily, and not a lot else. It is more compact than most bags that fit a full-size laptop, perfect for carrying what you need for class, or work without looking like you have packed to leave town.

We now have several pieces from Marmot and they are all very well made with attention to detail, compact and stylish. One of the nicest-looking everyday backpacks.
