I think this is a great gift to give to children just learning reading. The decoding is a fun way for them to see the letters and then put them together to spell a word and then a clue. It comes with three different books with three different decoding fun activities. I would buy again.

I love this set. It had three different little books with puzzles in them. My elder daughter got it when she was able to read easy sentences. We hoped it would keep her so interested that she would try to read and write more on her own. And it really worked! She had a blast solving the puzzles and pretending to be a detective. She didn’t even notice that we used it to practice her reading and writing skills. Now second daughter got it and also loves it.

My 7 year-old loved this set. He has a knack for mazes and puzzles, and he loves trying to figure things out on his own. He is competitive and inquisitive by nature, so this kept him on his toes. He stayed busy in the car to and from a family reunion weekend, even while at our hotel. His excitement in solving the cryptograms to add to his set of clues was worth it alone. I highly recommend it.
