Have any of you found any of these products to be helpful for hot flashes?
The science is super-clear on hot flashes: fatty food triggers them. If you go super-low fat/whole food you’ll have fewer of them. Dr. Neal Barnard has a book called “Your Body in Balance” that walks through the scinece on this — I asked my functional medicine GYN if it was right, and she confirmed it. Also, drink organic soy milk –put it in your coffee or whatever works for you (edamame, tempeh, and tofu also work). The soy isoflavones dramatically tamps them down — women in countries that eat a lot of soy experience almost no hot flashes.
I’ve tried of few of these and they worked a little bit for a little while π
There is a new prescription for hot flashes that was life changing for me , that sounds like an exaggeration but it is true !! It’s called Veozah and my doctor told me it is safe for me to take after breast cancer and while taking estrogen blockers. With my insurance would have been $150 a month ( and I did consider it just for the summer) but a friend told me that if you contact the company they will give you a “savings card” and the cost reduced to $30 a month . I just renewed my “card” for the 2nd year. Totally worth $1 a day to be free of the hot flashes , stinky sweat, and being on fire multiple times a day .
You’re lucky, mine would be $1500.00 a month with my insurance. $400.00 with GoodRX. Still too expensive for me. But my doctor said her patients said it worked well for them.
It wouldn’t hurt to see how much it would be with the manufacturer coupon card.. I’d give it a try !
I’ve had hot flashes every 45 minutes round the clock for the last 18 years, since I was put into early menopause from chemo for breast cancer at age 35.
I had also found wonderful relief with Veozah, but after a change in our insurance it was too expensive to continue. I didn’t know that a savings card was available–will definitely check on that!
Thanks to all for the info contributed! π
