Heads Up! Shopkick Has Gone Out of Business – What You Need to Know
If you suddenly can’t access the Shopkick app, it’s not just you. When we couldn’t connect to their servers on the morning of March 26th, we assumed it was a technical issue. It turns out it was much bigger – Shopkick had shut down with no warning to customers or employees. 😔
You might still be able to open and log into the app, but it’s no longer functional – there’s no way to earn kicks or redeem them. Any rewards you may have previously earned also no longer appear in the app.
If you had already transferred a gift card to a retailer (like adding an Amazon gift card to your Amazon account), you can still use it. However, if you hadn’t claimed the gift card or saved the details to use later, those rewards are unfortunately no longer accessible. 😢
This is a great reminder for your other savings apps, like Ibotta and Fetch, to cash out as often as you can so you don’t run into the possible issue of losing out on your rewards.

If you still have the app and can access your account, see if you can see the rewards in the reward area. If so see if you can see the gift card information. Write it down or take a screenshot or both.
Thanks for the update. Pretty shitty that the didn’t notify their loyal users and employees. I was saving for a Disney trip with my family and jut lost almost $400 in gift cards. I wasn’t cashing them in was waiting until I booked my trip. I’m heartbroken. 😭

It happens way too often with these programs. I’ve been burned several times since the beginning of the Internet and I learned to catch out quickly from everything because just like Shopkick disappeared overnight. Another one I can’t cash out at is Perksy??? no customer service link no answers to my emails no way to cash out keep saying whoops and I finally made it to a cash out Take the year but they still send surveys so I don’t know how they’re getting away with it or who to contact or complain I mean, maybe the Better Business Bureau? I don’t know it is dad when they close up and don’t tell anyone or send an email some companies like Disney when they close their point program. Let us use our actual point, but they didn’t go belly up so that’s usually the difference
My APP is saying Your New shopping sidekick arrives soon – Available starting 12/04 when I open the app.

I don’t get that message. Is that April 12th or December 4th? I wouldn’t consider December as arriving soon.
It let’s me see the rewards, and I can enter my phone number, but won’t send me a code to verify.
Wow I can’t tell you how upset we are at the moment. We are seniors and use save our points for Christmas. We thousands of points that we have saved. Is there anything that we can do??? Please help.
Hi Diane! So sorry, I know how upsetting that must feel, especially after saving them for something special. From what we’re seeing so far, it doesn’t look like there’s a way to recover unredeemed kicks now that it’s shut down. You’re definitely not alone in feeling this way. ❤️
I use these sites for Christmas gifts. Just lost around $150 dollars. Lesson learned. I just cashed out on my other sites.

Well, that explains it. The app had been going downhill for a while, TBH — lower rewards, fewer items. Oh well. It was good while it lasted.
I have 35,877 kicks!!! This is disgusting that they can do this to people.
I was a faithful Shopkick user for years and I had quite a bit of points. I was trying all day today to get on. It wasn’t until I deleted it to reload it, I saw it was gone!!!
So disappointed.
I was a regular user and was enjoying the bonus kicks from interacting with their Instagram posts. I used it on Wednesday, earning 1,000 bonus kicks, and so was disappointed that they decided to abruptly shut down. It would have been nice to have some communication as to the reason(s) for the shutdown, but if even employees were not told, that is especially disheartening.

I have 41,000 kicks I was saving to buy my son a birthday gift this year since he’s driving now.
A lot of Shopkick users were falsely accused of cheating over 10 years ago, including myself. We were all lucky that they accidentally left the Macy’s gift card option open to cash out our kicks.
From then on, I warned anyone who used Shopkick to stop using it or cash out ASAP, as I had a feeling that they could cancel any account for any false reason.
I’m happy this scam of a company is gone, and shame on the higher-ups for stealing from the employees and its users.

I had 14,704 points. When I went to use them, it said technical difficulties. So sad we were given no notice.
I can’t log in to mine at all. It say they are having technical issues and try back later. It’s been 2 days now and I sent an email but nothing. So frustrating as I was just 400 kicks away from a $50.00 gift card.

This is ridiculous with theses apps. I have 180,664 points to use and now I’m screwed! Would have been nice if there was some warning about problems on their end after all the months of working to earn them! THey made their money and screwed us!
