If you love the idea of a farmers market but don’t have one open nearby, Kroger is coming to the rescue! The popular grocery store chain has launched a digital farmer’s market with the help of Market Wagon, an online ordering and delivery service that connects consumers with local farmers and artisan food producers. As of February 2023, this innovative pilot program is now available to millions of Kroger customers in the cities of Atlanta (GA), Columbus (OH), and Knoxville (TN).
With Kroger’s online shopping, consumers in these areas can access well over 1,150 local food products. These products are then delivered right to customers’ doorsteps! Not only will households benefit from the convenience of this Market Wagon – Kroger initiative, but it also allows consumers to support their local farmers and artisans. It sounds like a win-win partnership to us!
How do use Market Wagon for Kroger farmers market orders?
Do you live in one of these cities? Visit Market Wagon to see if your home is in the service area. If your zip code is eligible, you’ll be redirected to the Kroger online shopping section of the Market Wagon website.
From here, you can add your farmers market groceries to your cart and check out. There is no minimum order or membership fees! Just keep in mind that your order from the farmers market is a separate order from whatever you are purchasing directly from your Kroger grocery store.
Market Wagon only delivers one or two days out of the week. Your delivery window will be displayed at the top of the website and in your confirmation email. Deliveries typically come in the mid to late afternoon. You’ll receive a text and email when they arrive at your doorstep. For additional information, visit Market Wagon’s FAQ section.
What kind of products will I see at the Kroger farmers market?
When searching the Atlanta area farmers market, we saw items like non-GMO farm eggs, gallons of milk, and cuts of meat. There were plenty of ripe strawberries, crisp kale, and other produce. We also spotted items like fresh bouquets for Mother’s Day, homemade banana nut bread, and homemade sausage gravy. If you’re looking for pre-made meals, some vendors offered chicken and dumplings, pork tenderloin biscuits, and even chicken and mushroom savory pies.
The list of available products was impressive! We hope that if this pilot program goes well, the Market Wagon – Kroger farmers market will expand to include more cities soon!
