On the Border Files for Bankruptcy, Closes 77 Locations (Is Your Restaurant on the List?)
The growing list of businesses declaring bankruptcy now includes On the Border…
On March 5th, On the Border, a popular restaurant with over 100 locations in the US known for its Tex-Mex offerings, filed for bankruptcy.
According to the filing, at least 77 of their 100+ US locations have already closed or will be closing soon. If you are a fan of their famous sizzling fajitas, you can check to see if your location is on the list of closings in this document starting on page 21.
On the Border’s spokesperson said they hope to be able to restructure and keep the remaining restaurants open, but time will tell if any will locations will survive.
While the company has not publicly specified its reason for filing bankruptcy, we have seen quite a few restaurants struggling in the last few years due to the rising cost of food and families deciding to dine at home rather than eat out.
Just the classic example of a business “aging out “. If you don’t change things up a bit, your longtime customers get bored. Add the economic situation we are all in and the inability to get quality help and its a recipe for disaster.
The two closest ones I go to closed. Loved the food and drinks. Got to find a new mexican restaurant now.
The one near me closed a month ago. I had never been there.
