Stanley Recalls 2.6 Million Mugs (Is Yours One Of Them?)
Have you heard about the latest Stanley recall?
Stanley fans will want to check their cabinets!
Due to a burn hazard, the company recently recalled 2.6 million Switchback and Trigger Action travel mugs. It seems heat exposure and torque may cause the mug lid to shrink and detach, increasing the risk of burns. 😬
We recommend taking the recall seriously. There have been 91 reports of lids detaching and 38 reports of burns, with 11 people needing medical attention.
If you are in possession of one of these mugs, you are due a replacement lid.
The mugs were sold in-store and online between June 2016 and December 2024. They were available for purchase at major retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Target, and even Dick’s Sporting Goods.
The mugs came in several colors, such as white, black, and green. They were available in 12oz, 16oz, and 20oz sizes, and the Stanley logo appears on the front and bottom. The bottom also includes a product identification number.
The following ID numbers were affected by the recall:
- Switchback 12oz – 20-01437
- Switchback 16oz – 20-01436, 20-02211
- Trigger Action 12oz – 20-02033, 20-02779, 20-02825
- Trigger Action 16oz – 20-02030, 20-02745, 20-02957
- Trigger Action 20oz – 20-02034, 20-02746
Stop using them for now. You’ll need to contact Stanley to receive a replacement lid.
You can contact Stanley toll-free at 866-792-5445 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.

Yep, I have one of the travel mugs. I got the email from them this morning. I use travel mug multiple times/week. I wash it in the dishwasher, and have never had an issue. However, I’ll reach out for a replacement lid. Thanks for the reminder!
You’re welcome, Cindy. 💗 Good to know you haven’t had troubles with it and that you also received an email as a heads-up from Stanley too!
Related to Stanley products, my daughter has one of the black Stanley 40oz Quenchers and the paint started chipping off at the top, but when my daughter emailed them about a warranty exchange, they told her it wasn’t eligible because it that was due to wear and tear and not covered under the warranty. Anyone have any advice on this? Thank you!!
