Starbucks Is Closing 500 Stores – Here’s the Scoop!
Starbucks is closing 500 stores by 2026!

Heads up, Starbucks fans! On September 25th, Starbucks shared some big (and kinda bittersweet) news. It will be closing around 500 stores (about 1% of its total locations) and cutting 900 non-retail roles by the end of the year.
Why the shake-up? Starbucks has seen six straight quarters of declining sales, and has chosen to shut down underperforming stores or locations that just aren’t delivering the cozy vibe customers expect (exact locations have not yet been announced). However, one major surprise is that the closures will include their flagship Seattle store!
Hip Tip: If you’re worried about your local store, keep an eye on the Starbucks app. It’ll show updated locations and help you find the nearest spot if your go-to coffeehouse is impacted.
On a positive note, Starbucks plans to revamp over 1,000 stores to feel warmer and more inviting and they’re also investing in staff training and tech upgrades to improve order times. Yes, please!
