ToysRUs Makes a Comeback: Up to 24 New Brick & Mortar Stores Opening Soon!
You haven’t seen the end of Toys R Us!
Toys R Us is making a comeback this holiday season. 🎁
The iconic toy store is here to stay! The toy retailer’s parent company, WHP Global, announced last Friday that it had big plans to bring back brick-and-mortar Toys R Us stores.
The expansion promises to be a triple threat as it will take place by “Air, Land, and Sea.” This innovative plan will see the creation of up to 24 new flagship brick-and-motor stores including opening in locations like airports and on cruise ships.
Both the airport and cruise ship stores will feature special travel-themed merchandise that double as souvenirs for those traveling. 🛳️
Where and when do the new Toys R Us stores open?
Many of the new stores will take place in major cities and the first store is opening just in time for the 2023 holidays!
If you’re traveling through the Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport this November, hop on over to Terminal A to visit the first airport store and stock up on presents for the kiddos. 🎄🕎
As for the rest the stores, they may open as early as next year and will be located in “prime cities.”
If you can’t wait until then, you can visit the current flagship store in New Jersey’s American Dream megamall. This store is a whopping 20,000 square feet and includes features like a two-story slide, café, and ice cream shop. Though this store will likely stay as the largest Toys R Us location, it will serve as an inspiration for the flagship stores to come!
This isn’t the first expansion of the toy retailer…
You may remember that Toys R Us filed for bankruptcy back in 2017 and their brick-and-mortar locations were all closed by 2021. 😢
Then, WHP Global took control, and they were determined to get the toy retailer back in the game! They immediately rolled out more than 400 Toys R Us stores in various Macy’s across the country.
Since this time just a short while ago, WHP Global has reportedly increased the Toys R Us global footprint by more than 50%. 🤯 They currently have some 1,400 stores and e-commerce sites across 31 countries.
If you had been sad to see the old Toys R Us shut their doors, it looks like you can rest assured. Toys R Us isn’t going away any time soon!
Doing some early holiday shopping for the kids? Don’t these amazing toy deals!
