How Did I Not Know About These Sally Beauty Generic Dupes?! (+ Get Them for $5 Each!)
Sally Beauty’s Generics line has the best bang for your buck!
Sally Beauty’s Generic line is the answer to super cheap dupes that actually work!
When it comes to hair and skin care, there are so many products on the market…and I’m a sucker to try almost all of them! More recently, I fell in love with the Kenra volume spray, recommended to me by my hairdresser and what felt like thousands of friends (a.k.a. reviewers on Ulta’s website). 😂 I’ve been taking an interest lately in higher-end hair care (since I don’t seem to put a limit on quality skincare) though I’ll be honest, I wasn’t loving the $20 price tag.
But then I stumbled upon Sally Beauty’s Generic line…and sure enough, guess which product was at the top of the page I landed on — the generic dupe for Kenra volume spray for around $11! AND it was even on sale for 2/$12! Yes, you’re reading that right… TWO hairsprays for way less than the regular price of one. 🤯
Discovering this magical haircare sale while being on a call with some team members, I immediately said, “hang on one second, guys; I need to place this order right NOW!”
And the best part? They’re currently having a 4 for $20 sale, so it’s the perfect time to stock up!
Note: Sale prices are not valid with any other offers and expire on 12/7.

Here are the products I picked up to try myself…
Volumizing Spray Compare to Kenra Volume Spray, 10 oz $11.49
-versus-
I absolutely love the Kenra hairspray; it’s soft and lightweight, yet effective but after testing out the Sally generic, I felt a little duped. It truly felt like it had the same effect on my hair, though the scent of the generic version is a touch more aerosol/alcohol-like.
What really blew me away was the “Compare to” component right on the packaging. They promote the actual brand name product it’s compared to and list out the ingredients side-by-side. The proof is in the packaging, my friends!
This discovery got my wheels turning to think, “what other brand name products am I buying that are part of this generic line?!”
Clear Complexion Charcoal Mud Mask Compare to GLAMGLOW* SUPERMUD* Clearing Treatment, 3.4 oz $10.99
-versus-
GLAMGLOW SUPERMUD Charcoal Instant Treatment Mask, 3.5 oz $86
I found my answer… face masks! Have you guys ever heard of GLAMGLOW SUPERMUD? When this mask first came out several years ago, I was such a fan girl. It was like a vacuum for gunked-up pores! But if I’m being honest, I only ever bought the travel size because I simply couldn’t bear the cost! 🙈
When I spotted it in the list of Sally generic products for under $11, my finger instinctively clicked “add to cart”. And I am not disappointed in that decision at all because it is JUST as good as the brand name version!
Check out my before and after photos:
I will admit, these pictures may not show a night and day difference, but personally, I 100% see an improvement! So far, I’ve only used this mask three times, but if the results continue the way they have been, I can only imagine how great my skin will look with consistent use!
And note the first image is slightly darker from being taken at a different time of day one week prior but these images are [obviously] not edited — hi there pores, facial/nose hair, and blemishes! 👋😂 Side note: it’s a very humbling experience taking close-up shots of your blackheads.
But the awesomeness of this generic line doesn’t stop there!
Leave-In Conditioner Compare to It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In, 4 oz $10.49
-versus-
It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-in Conditioner, 4 oz $18.99
Note: The It’s a 10 Sally generic dupe is currently out of stock for shipping, but could be available for pick up in-store near you! The Leave-In Conditioner Compare to Paul Mitchell The Conditioner is a great alternative!
It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-in Conditioner is a massive team favorite among Hip2Save, but those small bottles can add up! However, luckily Sally Beauty’s Generic dupe also strengthens and rebuilds damaged hair for nearly half the price. Not to mention that for the most part, the ingredients the pretty much the same – how is this possible?! 🤯
This goes for all products part of the generic line, hence why they’re being “compared to” top-of-the-line products.
Here’s a review from a buyer:
“I bought this after looking for a cheaper alternative to the It’s A 10 Leave-In Conditioner. It is a lot less expensive and works the same. I use it every day to help comb out my color-treated hair. I put the product in an It’s A 10 bottle to feel fancier.” – Lizzy
And it still gets better, because so many more hair care products, including ones from the generic line, are eligible for the 4 for $20 discount!
It’s even better than a BOGO deal with tons of options normally around $12, if not higher! We’re not sure how long this will go on, so act fast! 🏃🏻♀️
And the savings don’t stop there! If you’re looking for another way to save, be sure to sign up for Sally Beauty rewards. I signed up while I was checking out and the next day, I received an email for $5 off my next purchase! Looks like I’m just going to have to keep trying more products from this Sally generic line. 😏
Let me know if you’ll be trying any of these generic dupes! 🙌
One of my favorite hair care products was discontinued by Sebastian but Sally’s still sells their version and it seems to work exactly the same. Love my Sally’s! Especially if you watch their sales!
What a great alternative! I get so bummed when my favorite products get discontinued, but that’s a great hack to check for the generic availability instead!
😮 I never knew that! Heading their now…thanks!!!
Right?! I was mindblown too — happy shopping!
What. 😂
I have to disagree on the generic Kenra hairspray. I have used Kenra for many years. Sally’s version is stickier, takes longer to dry and kinda leaves a wet, stiff look on my hair. I feel like it doesn’t hold as well also.
Oh darn, Tracy! I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you! I really love the Kenra one too and to me, the scent was only the noticeable difference. That said, I usually either apply a little bit to my hair when wet before blowing it out, or if I apply dry, I usually brush it through with my fingers, and so I haven’t seen much of a difference between the two. But I know that everyone can have totally different experiences and I’m bummed that this dupe didn’t pass the test for you!
They’re my fave! I’ve been using Sally dupes for years 🙂
That’s great to hear! I can’t believe I’m just finding out about them now! 🙈
Hi there Mag! This post is not paid for or sponsored by Sally Beauty. In fact, they didn’t even know we were writing it (but we did send their way since posting to let them know how much we love them AND this sale 🤗)!
This is an honest experience I had from discovering the generic line at Sally Beauty, purchasing the products on my own, and testing them out at home. I was just really impressed at the results so I thought I would share with our readers, especially since they were on sale for such great prices!
Now that said, I have only tried a couple of products from this line so that’s not to say there aren’t some that miss the mark. But the ones I have used, I truly do love — so much so that I’m typing this while wearing my weekly mud mask on my nose 😆
I’m sorry to hear they didn’t work out for you and hope you have better luck finding some generics that *do* work out for you, as I’m sure we all can agree beauty products are getting more and more expensive — happy shopping!
Can anyone recommend a Sally’s generic gel? I have long curly hair and love Biolage Gelee
Yes, biotera alcohol free styling gel. My daughter follows the curly girl method and this is approved and great.
I’ve been using their Generic Concentrated Leave-In Treatment (like Sebastian Potion 9) since before 2008. Also their Leave-In Treatment (like Redken Extreme Anti-Snap) is a fave too. I bought a ton one time when it was free shipping and still have lots on hand. I have really long hair so need lots of conditioner!
I have fine thin hair. I’ve used Aussie Instant Freeze hairspray for years, but I can’t tell you how many times I have had to return them because a new one will work a couple of times and then not spray anymore. I’ve decided I am giving up on that brand. I appreciate your recommendation and I just bought the Sally generic one that is like the Kenra volume spray. Since I’ve never splurged on the Kenra one, I can just judge the one from Sally’s. Thanks again!🤞🏻
You betcha! Let us know how it works out for you, Debbie! I’m super curious!
Any dupe ideas (Sally’s or otherwise) that is similar to the L’ange Thick It Cream? TIA
Yes! Their Conditioning Balm is the dupe for Matrix Biolage Conditioning Balm and it’s a cult favorite for Curly Girl method!! I use both versions and don’t see much of a difference.
I’m so excited you wrote this, Lesli! I use the Curly Girl method and use Kevin Murphy products which are super expensive. I’m going to have to try these!!
Hope it works good for you!! I’ve tried so many different hair products. I’ll have to look into Kevin Murphy too.
can you buys these in store, if so what stores?
Yes! They are all sold at Sally Beauty Supply stores.
Thanks for the sale reminder! I’ve used the Kenra dupe for years and love it!!
Awesome! You’re welcome, Teresa!
I am visiting in October through January. When I lived in USA I used Vita E Hairspray and Infusium 23. Are they still available? If not, what is some recommendations for hairsprays and leave in? Thank you, Debra
Hey there! It looks like you might still be able to grab the Infusium 23 products. I don’t see the Vita E Hairspray. Hope you have a wonderful visit! 💕
