The online retailer Jane.com, whose deals we often shared over the years, suddenly went dark on Friday, November 17, surprising us, shoppers, sellers, and employees of this popular fashion and home decor marketplace. 😔

We first noticed a “down for maintenance” message when visiting the site, and now it seems the Jane mobile app is nonfunctional, as well. While the company’s social media pages are still online, comments have been turned off.

Jane has a sizeable community of small business owners and other vendors who are now locked out of their sellers’ portal. With no way to communicate with Jane, sellers are unsure whether they will be able to collect the money owed to them by the company. We hear that there may be thousands of unfulfilled orders with no plan in place to ship them or provide refunds. The local police department where Jane is headquartered has even opened an investigation.

Many concerned customers and sellers who have attempted to reach out to Jane have reported receiving no response, so direct communication with the company may be difficult or impossible at this point. If you recently purchased something from Jane.com and haven’t received your order, be prepared to dispute those charges with your credit card company.

    I received an email from Jane yesterday or the day before, can’t remember, and it was not specific. It was regarding their sales and orders. Of course I deleted it but I am sure everything will come out to the light. Crossing my fingers for the small business owners and customers. Thanks for the 411.

    I can see why. Every time I ordered from Jane there was a problem with the order, whether not getting it, it shipped to the wrong address, wrong size, color, or item. Plus, it was impossible to get your money back. It was always a credit that was impossible to use. I quit buying there two years ago. I still have a credit that I was never able to apply to anything. This is no surprise to me at all.

      I totally agree! I only ordered from Jane one time, several years ago. The item was supposed to be a gift, but when it came, the quality of it was so poor and cheap that I was embarrassed to give it as a gift. Rather than hassle with a return, I just kept it for my own use. That’s when I put Jane into the “never again” category.

    I love shopping through Jane. Love all their personalized items. I do have two depending orders from October with credit from a last order that was cancelled. I was hoping to use it for Christmas presents. This is tough!

I opened an Etsy store yesterday to try to get some cash flow while I figure out my next step.
