More The Home Depot

hand holding little wood set in store

Back in March, we reported that The Home Depot canceled their upcoming FREE Kids Workshops due to Coronavirus.

In place of these kids’ workshops, many The Home Depot stores across the country are handing out Kids Workshop Kits for FREE! Each kit includes a fun project geared towards kiddos ages 5 or older and you should be able to score a new kit for free each month!

Note that the kits may require some extra tools like a hammer, screwdriver or paint and they do require adult assistance and supervision.

We recommend that you call your local Home Depot store before heading out to find out if they have the kits in-stock and to see how & when you can grab one. Our local store had us go to the customer service counter to grab the kit, but this may vary by location.

To check for future Kids Workshops, head on over to HomeDepot.com, enter your zip code, select the store closest to you, and then scroll down to search for and register for the next FREE Home Depot Kids Workshop.

Keep your kiddo busy at home with these fun kids crafts!

This sounds great. Can you go whatever day of the week it is? Or do they ask for verification of age of child and this is supposed to be every week?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi T! Our local Home Depot store did not ask for any age verification and our kids were not present. We were able to get several free kits without any issues.

Do you sign up or just go there and ask?

I went today (Wednesday) and was able to ask for 5 one for each of my kiddos. I just asked at customer service. They had a whole box full.

  2. Mendy

    Awesome thank you!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      You’re welcome, Mendy!

Do do I just call my local store or do I need to register online for the free kits?

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Just call your local store and ask how they will be distributing them.

I picked up planes and the vanity kits last week. They look pretty fun

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

      Woohoo!

How cool is this?! We try to only shop at Home Depot at my office (construction). I will support them more now.

  8. Camilledyan

This is one thing my children have missed. We’ve gone every month for 8 years.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Hope you can get some kits and do them at home!

My baby is 18 today. We still have most of the projects we did over the years. She is more than capable and this is just one small activity that helped her self confidence. I dont know how to replace a toilet, but she does! I’m doing them with my granddaughter now and she is so proud of the birdhouse we built at home. She painted it red glitter. These things might be Saturday morning activities that fill an hour but the memories and skills, they last a lot longer.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

What special memories! Thanks so much for sharing them with us and happy birthday to your daughter!

    • michele

my daughter and I had lots of great times doing the projects

  10. Darlene

is there a limit to how many kits you can get?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Darlene! You can always call in to your location for any further details on how they may be offering these.

  11. Nancy

I checked at mine two weeks ago and they said they were not getting them.

  12. Selene

Wilshire/Union location (Los Angeles, California) employees did not even bother to look for the kits when I asked and told me that they dont have it. Not so happy with their service and attitude.
