Home Depot has the best FREE activities for kids! ⭐️

Home Depot is known for hosting fun and FREE Kids Workshops! Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, they have eliminated the in-store events, but you can still score a kit for free!

In place of the kids workshops, many Home Depot stores across the country are handing out FREE Kids Workshop Kits at the beginning of each month so kiddos can enjoy their projects at home.

October’s project is a fun Fire Chief Car! You will just need to supply your own wood glue, fine sandpaper, and a hammer. Home Depot even provides easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions and a video to help your child create this item available online.

Want to take the learning further? Check out the workshop extensions they offer! For October, the workshop extension challenges kids to learn more about their neighborhood by designing a map the ‘fire chief’ would use to navigate their area!

We recommend that you call your local Home Depot store before heading out to find out if they have the kits in stock and to see how and when you can grab one. Our local store had us go to the customer service counter to grab the kit, but this may vary by location. Note that you no longer have to register as these kits are available first-come, first-served.

Snag kits online for under $5!

If your store no longer carries these kits, you can still grab a variety of past and current kits online for as low as $4.98. These include a certificate of completion, an apron pin, a Kids Workshop apron, as well as easy-to-follow instructions!

To check for future Kids Workshops, head on over to, to view upcoming workshops. Registration is no longer required, but you will want to try to get to your store ASAP once a project is available since they are on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Keep your kiddo busy at home with these fun kids crafts!

Mine do too! Great weekend activity.

I save them and put them in the Grandkids stockings at Christmas

Note that the ones you pick up in store are free and don’t come with the apron. Please only take as many as you need, and leave for other people. There are always unscrupulous people putting them on eBay for more than Home Depot sells them for on-line!

Is it the 1st Saturday of the month?

How do I get to the page to see which location have available free kits? It always sends me to the Home DIY for adults not kids. Thank you in advance:)
