1st I’ll say I love you hip to save! However how come Amazon gives deals to college kids and new moms , but never to existing prime members? We pay $100 or more for our prime delivery that is delayed more times than not. I’m so frustrated between Amazon and now Kohl’s and their “new policy for reward members”. I think it time to jump ships!😂

    • Irene (Hip Sidekick)

I’m sorry to hear of your frustration, J. It’s been a challenging year to say the least for all of us….maybe even so for stores with shipping. Good luck on your decisions. Thank you for being a part of HIP2Save!

    • Dawn Colvin

We cancelled our Amazon Prime and requested and received a refund. A free membership for students and ebt card holders but no discount for Veterans? Think about that…..

  2. Family First

Amazon student has been a nightmare to even try. It repeatedly has been unable to verify my SIL as a student. She put in the edu address and everything. After 15 minutes in the pop up chat, another 10 mins waiting for an Amazon rep to call back… nothing. They said they “thought” the reason she wasn’t able to sign up for the free membership is bc she is a current Amazon customer. Ok and? They advised her to terminate her account, lose all of the benefits mentioned above and then possibly try to sign up again with the student email. Also, if she becomes eligible for any other discounts available she would have to do the same thing and cancel the current membership first. The rep was on speakerphone so several fan members heard this exchange and it sounds ridiculous. It’s like Amazon really just doesn’t want to help out college students etc. And I will agree with the previous posting in saying they do nothing for us folks paying over $100 a year. I have personally cancelled within the past month and reached out directly to the companies I order from. I may return, but Amazon needs to take customer service serious again and stop acting like they don’t need the business. I get it, they’ve had success..but respecting all customers and making their lives easier and these discounts accessible should come included.

I just signed up (didn’t even put in an .edu email) and it automatically changed my membership to prime student (adult student). I am wondering how it will work since I just paid for the year after my free 6 months is up?

    • Alex

To be blunt, Jeff Bezos makes over $150,000 *per second*. He actually doesn’t need your business or mine. CS is no longer something that’s a priority; speed & efficiency is.

As far as the earlier comment, memberships are free for students & EBT cards right now because we’re still thick into a global disease-ridden disaster & millions are falling below the poverty line. They think if they schmooze those suffering right now, they’ll win their Prime business later.

  3. Marina Keaton

Thank you so much to Amazon for these discounts and opportunities! Amazon Prime definitely often distracts me from my assignments, but I try to balance studying and having fun.

  4. Evie

I do not see how students can afford things delivered. I guess, along with their loans being cancelled, they expect this to be too!

  5. Happy Aunt

It’s the convenience factor. By offering the free/reduced prime membership, Amazon knows they will likely increase their sales from these categories of customers that are going to choose the convenience of Amazon prime shipping from their phone at any hour of the day over the customer who plans purchases a little more so to speak.
