I tried getting flip flops today for just $.48 using the $3 of Merona foot wear. But they told me that you can’t combine Target coupons with Clearnace items anymore. 🙁
go back and try another cashier.
I had the same problem with the purses. The coupon beeped and the manager informed me that I couldn’t purchase a clearance item with the coupon.
I used the coupon for a purse on clearance and had no problems. I live in Florida.
My cashier questioned the Q, but called over a manager (without me having to ask!). The manager read the Q, said “it doesn’t exclude clearance, so you have to accept it”. The girl apologized and said she was happy to take the Q, just wanted to make sure she wouldn’t get in trouble! What a great Target experience!!
You are so lucky. My cashier was so rude. The lady said I couldn’t do it b/c the sandals were 2.48, so she called her manager on the phone. When the cashier explained the situation, I heard the manager laugh hysterically on the phone. When she arrived she gave me a look and they both were snickering at me and could not stop laughing. The manager ended up adjusting the coupon to 2.48, and I walked away w/ my sandals and both of them laughing at me and both saying they wanted to go home. How unprofessional was that? Ugh!! I doubt i’m ever going there again!
they are wrong..you can in fact use a Target coupon on a clearance item…call target corporate on that store. I had the same thing happen to me and the store was told they were wrong.
I had a manager tell me they don’t accept any coupons on clearance items…i knew he was wrong and called corporate on them..corporate called them while I was in the store and told the manager he was wrong..there is no reason not to take a coupon on a clearance item..
the manger tried to tell me clearance was the same thing as a promotion, and that they also don’t take coupons for sale items…what?…i hate when managers try to make up their own coupon policies..
J…I hope you have the names of those ’employees’, I’m sure the cashier’s name is on your receipt at least. I would call corporate and tell them how you were treated. How ridiculous! If they have that kind of attitude at work, there are plenty of people who would be thankful for their jobs right now and would actually give polite ‘service’. I think some re-training is in order since the manager is probably the problem there. Good luck!
I used mine yesterday, twice in fact and they never said anything. Got two pairs of flip flops for $.24 and $.48!
If you have a local walmart check there clearence lucked up and found bounce dryer bar packs with the small frebreze in it for 2.00 a package, I have a .50 coupon made it 1.50 a pack. Bought everyone, and they had double packs of windex 2.00 and 6 packs of scotch brite sponges for 1.50 use your 1.00 coupon I think I got it in the mail or in the paper one, made it .50 for all six. They had a lot clearance.
Be carefull with those new dryer bars, I was reading the fine print and it says not to use with Childrens clothing. Their clothes are coated with a flameretardant and it apparently will remove that off of thier clothes. Great concept I thought but because of that I will not buy it.

I have noticed when I use a coupon for an item and when the register beeps stating the coupon is valued more than the item purchased or states the item is not there, the cashier will not accept it. Even if there is no other fine print on the coupon to state why it would not be accepted. It all depends on THE cashier. I have ones that scrutinized my coupons every word and others don’t. { I like them =) } Find the Target internet coupon policy at their web site, print it and take it with you when you shop, maybe that will help.
This happened to me about 20 minutes ago! She said she had to type in the amount of the product, that I couldn’t get overage. No problem!!
I had the same problem yesterday! I was so mortified and the cashier was giving me a hard time and the line behind me kept growing and growing! I finally told her to just give me my coupons back and I still purchased my items. I then took them up to customer service and the cashier ended up just giving me cash back! I guess I can put the first cashier on my “stay out of her line” list!
got my cheap flippy’s this am in Florida…love my flips and was sharing with totally target girls and you all…that while there look at the handbags I was able to get two really awesome bohemian type fabric bright print bags for 2.47 ea. There were very few on sale maybe 4 or 5 so if interested I would wait, also many markdowns for belts and hats too. 🙂
i work at target and you are allowed to use coupons for clearance items. No where in the policy does it state you cannot use coupons on clearance. We take them all the time.

I was able to use the q’s without issue other than a beep…but, as always the q was pushed in…I am so lucky my target is awesome…so it is for use a ymmv thingy.
i was just told at a target in pa that they will no longer accept any coupon that is for more than the item- i told them that corp. allows it because i called and questioned it and they said no they will refuse them-i fought them for my items and finally got them but im getting so tired of them changing the policy every few days.my local target in wv will allow overage and they will take any coupons without question which i always follow the policy but wished i didnt have so many problems at other targets.
im in pa too and my targets all are giving me a hard time with coupons, even the ones in jersey! what gives?

I had to crack up today. I went to Target and bought a bunch of girl clothes that were on clearance and a pair of clearance flip flops. They took the $5 off of $30 coupon, but wouldn’t take the coupon for the flip flops. I thought that was hilarious. Such a double standard! I figured I better pay for the clothes and get out of there before they realized it! And I’ll just go back to another cashier. I want my 24 cent flip flops!!
I got one of these free a few months ago. It’s definitely a great deal … what’s not when it’s free! But they’re not great quality. The fabric is rough and strings are constantly coming off of it.

Yeah i just got back from target and had a few problems with my coupons, the cashier said target is becoming more stricked about accepting coupons, exspecially internet printed ones, she said the company wasn’t getting reinbursied for alot of coupons ppl used. On my particular coupons she said i had to buy the item pictured even though the item stated ANY product. She said it has to be the item pictured on the coupon. She called over a male csm or whatever they are & he even declined my coupons. I was trying to explain they where wrong and educate them on it but all she kept saying was target is becoming very AWARE of what coupons they will accept & won’t. And they now go by picture only. And he didn’t even read the coupon, he just looked at the pictured item on the coupon, and then looked at the items i was buying, which obviously didn’t match the coupon picture. Why do these people go buy the picture???? Why when it says ANY? It is frustrating. I kinda dislike shopping at target now & walmart. At walmart I had a problem with the nabisco B1G1 FREE 100 calorie coupons. When she scanned them it said “Type in item” on the register, i tried to tell her what to do, but she just got frustrated & was getting mad. So I just told her to give me my coupons back & i will use them else where, so she ended up taking the nasbisco off. I had four boxes total. I ended up buying them at target though without a problem and besides target was cheaper. I hate when you have to drive to another store just to get your deal when you know you could have clearly just used them at 1 store. I think i’m going to take a break from couponing for a while. I may catch a few deals here & their, but i’m feeling too overwhelmed with it lately. It’s not worth all the stress lately & time. Don’t get me wrong i had a good running spree where i had no problems what so ever, and i would read ppl’s comment about ppl having a rough time with using their coupons, and i would think i’m doing fine with mine with no problems, but i guess we all have are good coupon days and bad ones, but latley it’s just been bad for me. So i think i will put my binder to the side for a lil’ bit & just relax & enjoy my family and friends. Everyone else happy couponing! And when life gives you lemons, ma says squeeze em! lol 🙂

I totally understand. I set my coupon book aside a few months ago. I still get some deals here and there but I needed a break bad. Got tired of fighting for 2 and 3 dollars. You have to do what you have to do for you. Enjoy your break.

I know what you mean. I get stressed out every week when I go into Wags with all my “deals” every week. This week it seemed like the cashier changed her tone when she said “and here is another register reward” Maybe it was just my imagination, but I feel judged when I’m in there. I live in a real resort area in the summer and will be taking a break during that time also. It will not be worth the trouble with the crowds. Sometimes I feel like it’s not worth the embarrassment they make us feel for saving a few bucks, or sometimes pennies. When did it become a problem to try to stretch your budget?
I was with a friend on her first coupon mission. Target declined her Herbal essences Q on a travel sized item, saying that the travel size was not what was pictured. the Q didn’t state that Travel size was not allowed. She ended up just not getting the items. I was bummed for her. It can be really intimidating using Qs, especially for the first time. Boo, Target!
I print my coupons off in black only to save on the expensive colored ink. Most of the time the picture doesn’t print so that eliminates the problem of the cashier focusing on that instead of the wording…… and I save ink at the same time. I have never had any of my coupons refused.
I’ve not had any problems with Meijer accepting my internet coupons. But one cashier kept apologizing to the customer in back of me because I was using so many coupons. I finally told her to stop apologizing because that was my right to use them. She didn’t say another word.
Good for you. I hate it when they act like we’re inconveniencing them or doing something wrong by using coupons.
I was at my local Target yeasterday. The cheapest Merona flip flops were like $10 and no scarves, either.
There was only one pair left at my store. The rest were nicer fancier flip flops. I bought the pair even though they were too big. I figure flip flops don’t have to be a perfect fit.
No luck! Went to Target on my lunch hour. All sold out of clearance scarfs.
If you need to purchase anything else online, they still have the clearance flip flops for $3.98, you can use the $3 off coupon online, plus my Parents Magazine had a coupon for 20% off Merona items. I got my flip flops for .18, however to get free shipping you have to spend $50. I had to order something anyway, so it worked out for me. There are a lot of items with free shipping! On another note, if they are not supposed to accept target coupons on clearance items, then why does their online store accept them?
Got the flip flops today. I checked out the scarves but the clearance price at my store was still over $6.

JUST A HEADS UP FOR EVERYONE- You might want to check your target’s dollar spot. They had all “Purple dot” merchandise for 50% off. I got a WHOLE BUNCH of scrapbook stamps, stickers, sheets, clipboard icons, clipboards shapes, adhesive foams, rub-on embellishments, foil stickers, all for scrapbooking/crafts. Some cute flower compact mirrors, cards & envelope stationary sets, notepads, 2 pack of scotch tape, and OMG so much more. It’s was all in a big pile on my floor (I’m making a gift tin) Which they had these bright pink metal round tin pails, with two handles on each side, their pretty big, it was $2.50 for it, it’s the only thing that was regular price. It be great to make a gardening basket with also. They had tons of stuff for $0.50 cents – $1.50. I got everything for $0.50 cents though, besides the pink tin pail. I also got some glade 2oz candles for $0.54 cents each (i had $2 off any glade candle coupon from mailers, the candles where $2.54 each before coupons, i bought two) I put one in my gift basket. I also put a dove body spray in their which was $0.99 cents after coupons, i’ll probly through a nivea lip balm in the basket later. And i also put in free stuff from post it i have gotten over a period of time in the mail. I attached pictures of my final pictures of my basket. Their is a little over 50 items in the basket, some items where free & most items where $0.50 cents each. Very cute, check it out!

Signage at my Target stores said the 50% off was through Sunday, so hopefully it will be 75% off next week. I picked up a few things I wanted to get for sure and plan to go back and get some Sesame Street socks for my daughter if they mark them down further!

I went to Target last night and got 3 J &J first aid kits, the Benadryl itch sticks A pair of cute menora flip flops….they are black and white polka dots….I also got the kashi deal….I had $5/1off coupons on the kashi’s from a send away freebie awhile back…the cashier I had put through all the coupons even tho they beeped because of the overage….sweet! I wound up paying $4.24 oop and got back a $5 GC

They didn’t have any flip-flops on sale at my Target either (I live in Dallas) but I was able to get some merona loafers that were $6 on clearance so I paid $3 for a good pair of work shoes so I’m happy!
Went to target yesterday in MI they didn’t have any clearance flip flops some birkenstock looking sandals that were too clunky looking is all that was $3 at that store, that I could find. I did buy a real cute pair of jeweled sandals for $19.99 with 20% off. Not a great deal to say the least, but cute. I’m glad I read these postings before I went because everyone is right. My cashier a young guy was very pleasant and helpful but insisted on spreading all the coupons out on the conveyor belt. Then he matched up each item after reading each cpn and then rang them up. Weird, I know. I asked him why he couldn’t just ring everything up first, but he said he liked to do it this way in case there was any trouble and the cpns were getting so hard to figure out bla, bla, bla. He did try to refuse to use multiple 20% off merona cpns. I had three for three different items, but I told him there were individuale items etc. He did try and they of course went thru. Well of course this took forever, the person behind me said after I apolgized ( why we always feel we have to do this, I don’t know) “good for you, for trying to save money” I thought it seemed condescending, just the tone she used. Her and her teenage daughter kept eyeing up my cpns. I would certainly think twice before taking cpns there because that wasn’t fun. On the up side they did let me stack a manuf cpn with a store cpn and I was able to get some good deals on cat treats, dog treats etc. Does anyone know the store that sells the Purina one that had free cpns a while back, I have looked everywhere and can’t find this. Went to Target yesterday and used the scarf/belt coupon on one of their 6.99 “value” belts. Nothing fancy, but I have been losing weight and really needed a new belt, so was tickled to get a halfway decent one for under 5 bucks! ( I hate paying for clothes LOL)
