Can you freeze cream cheese? My kiddos love bagels and cheese.

    • Amy

Yes, you can! I always do when I stock up.

    • mb

ty i was just comin 2 ask that lol great minds think alike happy saving all

    • Lisa

It does change the consistency a little. I don’t mind though when I use it for cooking. It makes it less creamy, in that it’s harder to spread. But the taste is the same!

    • Rose

I always try to get the longest best buy date when I stock up. Usually all the later dated ones are towards the back, so try to dig through if you can. WD had a deal last week, so I have 10 blocks. And they all expire late Dec, and I know those will get used up by then.

I don’t freeze when I use it for bagels as it turns the texture grainy when thawed (the water separates from the milk). But I have frozen cream cheese when I plan on using it for baking or warm dips. The full fat cream cheese does better frozen than a less fat or fat free block. Also try to use it up quickly, the longer it stays frozen, the more clumpy looking it will get when defrosted.

      HTH!

      • Rana

This must be what happens when I freeze yogurt. It doesn’t thaw well for me at all!

      • Brianna

What great tips. Thanks for sharing!!

    • Tallymomma

      Thanks all!

  2. pamela

I doubt my Walmart has this for 1 dollar since many of our prices are higher then yours. (Michigan) But the coupon is good for a while so maybe I will get lucky! Thanks for the heads up!

  3. stacy

i wouldnt even dare steppin foot in Walmart with getting 5 free things Id think their heads would spin around like in the exorcist

    • Kim T

Thanks for my chuckle of the day, this is so true! But I did get 20 free gain dish soap! My Walmart treats us couponers like theives.

      • Paulette

Hmmm that’s why the shelf is empty every time I go in to get mine 🙂 Haha I’m totally having fun…..I just need to be quicker I guess, or find out what day they restock their shelf. 🙂

        • Kim T

I know you where only kidding, but I only bought 8 Gain dish soap at a time. I believe in sharing, and I know they will restock in a few days. Us couponers must stick together. Have a great day!

    • Erin

Ha! Too funny, and (sadly) too true!

    • kenac

so funny! yes I only go into walmart when it is absolutely necessary. just got five shredded swiss for $1 each after Q at my local grocery store and have a big pot of potato swiss soup brewing.

      • stacy

  4. amie

just left walmart and those “meanies” would not take my $5 coupon for kraft products. so very irritated. i really dislike walmart.

    • Christina

What was their reason for not accepting it??? I’ve heard some pretty crazy stuff from Walmart cashiers lately!

    • Kim T

I bought 10 pkgs of Kraft shredded cheese, $2.00 reg. price minus the $5.00 for 5. When I got to the cashier she said “I can only give you $2.50 for each coupon, ” I said I don’t think so , Walmart isn’t making $5.00 off me. I told her I wanted to see the manager, she asked another cashier and they put it in just like this— -2.00, -2.00 -3.00 -3.00. I’m sick of Walmart and everytime you go you have different excuses!

      • Kara

Mine did the same thing but my cashier was so nice. She called the manager over to fix it and was very nice about everything. But I did take Collin advice and scanned the cashiers and went to a friendly looking one. It took a little long to go through with her line but it was worth it.

  5. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

My Walmart doesn’t accept printable coupons (of any value) anymore! 🙁

    • Paulette

They should!!!!! Here is an email I sent to walmart…….
I have a question about using coupons at Walmart. I am a big coupon shopper and I have sometimes had issues using particular coupons. For example If you sell a product for $.97 and I have a coupon for $1.00 off that product, can I still use it? Most other retailers I shop at will adjust the coupon down to match the price of the item, however I have had a problem with this at your store. Sometimes the cashier will tell me I can’t use the coupon if the cost of the item is lower than the coupon amount, it is quite disappointing. I have read the Walmart Coupon policy and this subject is not mentioned. I would really appreciate it if you could help me out with this. Thank you so much.
      AND THE RESPONSE I GOT………
      “Thank you for your message.

      Dear ——–,

Thank you for your recent correspondence regarding the acceptance of coupons at Walmart. Our guidelines generally allow for the following types of coupons to be accepted:

      – manufacturer coupons (Cents Off)
      – free merchandise (or manufacturer’s Buy-One-Get-One-Free) coupons
      – store coupons
      – internet coupons
      – soft drink container caps

A salaried manager may refuse to accept a coupon if it does not meet certain criteria.

Coupon guidelines and limits include but are not limited to the following:

Walmart only accepts coupons for merchandise we sell and only when presented at the time of purchase. Coupons should have an expiration date and be presented within the valid dates. Walmart will not accept expired coupons or double/triple coupons. Internet coupons should be legible and say “Manufacturer Coupon_ and there should be a valid remit address for the manufacturer and scannable bar code. Store Coupons must reflect a specific sale price or original price and must be available to all customers. For ‘Free’ merchandise coupons, customers will not receive cash back — the cashier will adjust the value of the coupon to the actual retail of the item at the time of sale. In addition, only one coupon per item is permitted and use of 40 or more coupons per transaction will require approval by a Customer Service Manager.

      Sincerely,
      Walmart Customer Care

This email came right from Walmart customer care so I would be livid if the store wouldn’t allow me to use an internet coupon!!!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You may want to contact corporate. Not accepting printable coupons is against Wal-Mart’s coupon policy. They are doing a huge disservice to their customers and the manufacturers by not accepting the legitimate printables. Good Luck and don’t give up!

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

After a terrible experience a few months ago (spent almost 1 hr shopping, almost a whole cart full of stuff rung up, and THEN they told me they would not accept any printables, which was over 1/2 of my stuff that had to be voided), I have not been back since! But knowing this, maybe I’ll give Walmart another shot someday when I’m feeling extra patient! I am going to print this and take it with me next time! Thanks for taking the time to reply.

    • Lesley

It is Walmart corporate policy to accept internet coupons. You need to contact Walmart headquarters and tell them to email you the coupon policy and take it with you. My sister had the same problem at her Walmart and they made a copy of the coupon policy and now they accept them!!

  6. Erin

Anyone find these in the Richmond, VA area?

  7. Sarah

It’s still $1.98 each in my area. I needed the cream cheese anyway, and it took them 20 minutes and two manager overrides to use the $5 coupon. Just a warning! I’m waiting for a sale anywhere else before I use my other coupons.

  8. pamela

My Walmart never seems to have the same prices that Collin posts…(Michigan) The price drops are different but I am hoping to score at Meijer sometime with this coupon (on cream chesse that is) Thanks Collin!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I’m on the Indiana/Kentucky border and everythings a bit higher here too!

  9. Olivia Smith

Wow- I need some cream cheese to make a cheesecake- yummy! Thanks!

  10. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

i prefer meijer to walmart any day of the week. they double coupons up to $0.50 everyday, and usually their prices are comparable to walmart. plus they are local to the michigan area. i really dislike walmart. i never have any issues at meijer. i wish collin had a meijer her way so she could post deals from them! i usually do pretty good, but i always turn to this site for deals!

    • Charlotte

*sniff* Meijer here in the Chicagoland area does not double coupons… 🙁 Apparently they don’t so they can “save us money”. I don’t see the logic, but hey…

    • Kiran

which site you use for meijer?…i am new to meijer shopping

      • Emma

        Kiran, Bargainstobounty.com is pretty good

  11. Cara

If you live near a Giant, they have something called a “Doubler” in their current sales paper. You can double manufacturer’s coupons (up to $1) by using the “Doubler” in conjunction with the coupon.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      I didn’t get that in my flyer…hmmm

  12. jennypinchingpennies

I agree with everyone! I have never had a good couponing experience at walmart. And, they are terribly rude and disrespectful. It is also very, very crowded with very, very rude people everytime we go. I will pick Meijer anyday, even if I have to pay a few cents more. They have never argued a coupon, and are always very nice (and not super crowded)!

  13. Kelly

I went to Meijer today and used 2 of the $5/5 coupons on the Kraft cheese cubes (so convenient to give my 19-month-old son) and the cashier said “I don’t think this coupon is for those small bags” but put the coupons thru anyway. They aren’t small bags! I usually don’t have a problem with the cashiers at Meijer but today this lady went checking thru my whole load to make sure the coupons matched. I don’t ever try to cheat the system so it makes me mad, oh well it’s worth the money saved.

  14. Jennifer

Just a note that I used my $5/5 coupon at Walmart this past week on shredded cheese with no problem. The register did say that the “coupon amount is too high”, but the cashier happily took the remaining amount off with no problem. He didn’t even question it. He was very coupon friendly and I thanked him very much for being so good about it! Think I will head over there later this week for the cream cheese and see if I can do just as well. Thanks Collin!

  15. ann

My Walmart will not take printable coupons either; therefore I do not shop there. I rather wait until someone else has it on sale or just do with out.

  16. Anna in NC

I used this coupon last night at Walmart WITH problems! I bought 3 Kraft shredded cheeses $2 each and 2 block cheeses $2 each. It only took off $2.28 (which was one of the Kraft’s block cheese which was was the wrong price – the shelf tag said $2 – I’m going back today to have them fix that). The cashier had a manager come over and she said it’s only gonna take off $2.28 so I showed her the peelie off of one of the Kraft shredded cheeses I was buying explaining how to get THIS coupon from the Kraft site. I was being nice but firm. She had to manually take off $2, $2, and $1. Not sure why this coupon isn’t working at Walmart. I’m going back today to try it again…

On a good note… “Olde Hearth bagels are on Rollback at Walmart right now! Right now you can buy Plain, Honey Wheat and Onion bagels for $1.00! There is a $1 off coupon at coupon.com which makes them FREE!

    • FRZLDMOM

I’ve been to Walmart several times and can’t find the Olde Hearth Bagels — are they in bread aisle or the frozen foods. Help! Have a coupon I would like to use.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

They are refrigerated and are next to the cream cheese at my Wal-mart.

  17. Stevie

They are $1.86 at my walmart.
I was there earlier and bought one cream cheese, a package of shredded cheese, sliced cheese and two 100 cal packs. They cashier manually put my coupon in for $2. I mentioned something..he was like Uhhhh..then changed it for me.

  18. Takako

My local Walmart price is $2.27 but I will use the coupon as price match because other local grocery store will have Kraft products sale in this coming week. Thanks for heads up! 🙂

  19. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

i went to walmart last night to use the $5 coupon. i bought 5 packs of All Natural Kraft shredded cheese at $2 each. i gave her the coupon with no problems. im walkin out the door thinking why so expensive? Well it didnt show on my recipit so i went to costomer service. I told them and she went to the register to get the coupon. with the coupon in her hand she opened the drawer and gave me $5. so Watch Out when using the Coupon at Walmart.

  20. April

Went to Wal-Mart today only took $3.84 off instead of $5!

  21. mouni

They are 2.08 at my Walmart so i’m gonna hold on to the coupons for now. I bought 2 ”mission” Tortilla chips and thought i was getting a good deal till i got to Weis and they were 26 cents cheaper a bag. I don’t know why Walmart has the reputation of being cheaper than other stores. They almost never have any sales, they don’t double coupons and their prices aren’t cheaper than other stores but rather more expensive when i do comparisons with other stores that offer sales!

  22. jennifer2

I am very new to coupons and this site (only about 2 weeks) and am worried now after reading everyone’s problems with coupons being used at Wal-Mart. I have also heard that Target is difficult in dealing with coupons…where can I use my coupons without alot of hassle or denying them? I have spent hours clipping coupons and getting a binder ready with categories and subcategories and am now wondering if I wasted my time? I have a Dillons where I do most of my grocery shopping. Does anyone else have a Dillons where they use their coupons and how are they treated there? I appreciate everyone’s comments on here and find them very useful. Thanks for any help you can give me!! 🙂

    • Sally

I shop at Kroger (Dillion is affiliated store) and had no problems using coupons over there. Personally, I never shop at Target. My favorite place to shop for household items is CVS and Walgreens but Walgreens is getting difficult to deal with.

      • Sabrina

I have always had problems with Target…Never really Walmart until this coupon…..My Kroger is my favorite though or Meijer….You did not waste your time…certain coupons and certain cashiers just give you trouble….most of them go through without a problem!!!!

    • Brianna

You don’t necessarily have to clip all your coupons. There is a method where you just put whole ‘like’ inserts into a binder sleeve, or hanging folder system, and date the packets of coupons the 9/12 (for ex) date on the front. Just a suggestion in case you didn’t know. (Thought it might help since you’re semi new to couponing!) Don’t give up, it will get easier and quicker. I have been doing this for 7mos and it took me a few months to get my act together too!

  23. Sabrina

My walmart said they would only give me $2 off for my Kraft coupon today instead of $5 I told her to take the cheese off then and I would go to meijer because it goes through fine there and then she asks me Would you like your coupon back…..lol no take the coupon make $5 off me when you wont even accept the coupon….lol

    • joan castillo

Just got back from Walmart in Chicagoland area . and Philly is $2.08 pp
      Didn’t even mention about a coupon .

  24. mouni

Sabrina, that sounds like they were trying to rip-you (and the manufacturer) off. They’ll get the $5 reimbursed. Why should they only give you 2 off? That’s bad business in my opinion. Since they’ll get reimbursed anyway, why turn people off with such an attitude? You did well walking out of there with your coupon. I would’ve done the same 🙂

    • Sabrina

it was funny too. my mom was with me and she doesnt do coupons and even she wondered why she asked me if I wanted my coupon back why wouldnt I if you werent going to give me the $5 off…lol but yet she gave me overage on my other coupons Walmart makes no sense to me sometimes…..

  25. DP

Publix has a Kraft Deluxe Store coupon out today that will go nicely with the $5/5 coupons

  26. Coupon Wealth Paula

I just got back from the Crawfordsville, Indiana Walmart and the manager told me they would not accept the $5 Kraft coupons because they don’t get reimbursed for them. Both the Manager and Cashier were abrupt and indifferently rude. So frustrating.

  27. Jaala

I just got back from my walmart and they would not take my coupon in Las vegas. They were only going to give $2.00 credit for it. I will not be going to walmart for a long time, besides their prices are so high here anyways.

  28. jessica

I did this Saturday morning with Philly and Kraft Shreaded and I told my BF that i was nervous about using it so the guy scanned it and it beeped and I thought “oh here w go” but he proceeded to scan it 3 seperate times and put in $2,$2, $1. Why?!?! That doesnt make any damn sense 🙂

  29. jessica

    • Michelle

It must be how their computer is set up, because the young man checking me out last nite did the same thing. I don’t care how he puts it in, as long as I get my discount

  30. Gina

Wal-Mart associates have sunk to a new low!!!! While the cashier was scanning my coupons, I kindly pointed out that a certain coupon didn’t go through. So she looked at the journal and said that she’ll let it go this once and manually key it in, but that if it doesn’t go through, then they won’t take it. So she proceeded to scan my coupons and another one didn’t go through. I again pointed it out and she said, “Stupid ass coupons.” I was like, “SERIOUSLY???” So I said, “If it saves my family thousands of dollars of year, I’m going to continue doing it.”

I am just going to choose to go throughout my day with a smile on my face!!! : )

    • tina

what???!!! i cant belive she said had! horrible customer service!

  31. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

can anyone tell me which WM supercenter is selling the cream cheese for $1? i went today to WM Supercenter #5063 in charlotte, nc their price of an 8oz cream cheese is $1.98 not on Rollback for $1.:( hmm i wish they can do an price match but they don’t price match with other WM and i don’t think that coupon works neither b/c i use it like on 9/2 and it took off $1.98 at 1st so i thought i was gonna get it for free but then later the cashier voided it and entered the coupon amount which was $5 maybe its a good idea if you all print out the whole coupon and show the list of Kraft cheese products to the cashier just for proof

  32. 417bmcatee

I haven’t had any problems with couponing at Wal-Mart. In fact, the cashiers seem friendlier to me now than they did before, and say things like “you go girl.” when I use coupons where I get items for very cheap or free.

I haven’t used the $5 coupon yet, but I think I will just buy that item and use coupon when I do. That way I won’t get confused with the other stuff I am buying & can make sure the coupon goes through correctly.

  33. Savingsman

My Wal-mart in Tulsa had it for $1.98. I don’t think so.

  34. Eva

i went to my local walmart earlier today and went straight for 5 Philadelphia Cream Cheese products. They were not on roll-back, but I need them anyway. But when checking out, after scanning the coupon the cashier was prompt with an instruction to enter the amount to subtract. She entered 5, of course, but a following message read “Amount too large” and the computer automatically went for $1.98 off. I did object, but they responded with an explanation that “something always go wrong with online coupons, and THEY DO NOT TAKE PRINTED ONLINE COUPONS”. Well, long story short, I ended up buying 2 cream cheeses using one coupon for $1.98 off… same thing if I bought 5 and received $5 off.

  35. Theresa

How much does Wal Mart double up to? I thought it ws up to .50
I went there last night and was told they don’t double coupons.
Just asking. Thanks for your help.
