*HOT!* $5/1 JMS Sportswear Coupon = Better than FREE Apparel at Walmart?!

Hip2Save may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you via trusted partners and affiliate links in this post. Prices and availability are accurate as of time posted. Read our full disclosure policy here.

There is a *HOT* coupon available in the May issue of All You magazine! Flip to page 14 and you should spot a $5/1 JMS (Just My Size) Sportswear (excludes bras, panties, shapewear) coupon. This coupon may make for better than FREE JMS Sportswear at Walmart! According to reader, Brittany, lots of JMS Sportswear is on clearance for under $5. She was able to find JMS pants on clearance for $3, so FREE + $2 in overage to go towards other items! She then used that overage to purchase another All You magazine for FREE. It’s on roll back for only $1.88, so you may want to purchase a couple of issues.

Check out what Brittany stated in her email (which I think is a wonderful idea!)…

On a side note, I used the overage to pay for another issue of All You which is $1.88 right now, so you could turn it into a rolling deal. Also, an idea for readers who can’t wear JMS clothing (including me), this is a great item to add for donation to the recent tornado/flood victims that you posted about recently 🙂

(Thanks, Brittany!)

I got this deal last week, but our Walmart had winter items marked down to $1. I was able to buy a JMS jacket for $1, which I gave to my mom, and I used the $4 overage to buy 4 more sweaters for my sister and I. Great deal!!

  2. Robyn

Thank you! I missed this coupon & I could use the clothes!

  3. Mackenzie

I saw the sweatpants for $1 yesterday. Wish I had my coupons with me 🙁

  4. Krys

Where do i find the overage policy on the walmart website?? They would not give me the overage couple weeks ago. i would like to print it off. Thanks!!=)

  5. mamabug

Friends and I have been using this coupon since the magazine came out. I’m honestly glad to say that I stocked up on what I needed before this post because I have a feeling the meager clearance stock at our Walmart will be gone right away now. LOL

  6. momof4spoiled1s

My Walmart in Houston, Tx on Wallisville obviously doesn’t know their own policy either because they aren’t giving overage on the coupons either. The male cashier also had the gall to say they have a limit of manufacturer coupons they will take per whole order when the policy clearly states there is no limit on the total coupons per transaction. I guess walmart employees will never learn the policy. In the meantime, while we educate the employees, us couponers have to keep making people in line behind us mad because they think we are the ones holding up the line. Even then the employee gets the final word on what takes place because some of them won’t budge. I had a walgreens manufacturer coupon and the walmart register wouldn’t take it. The manager told me if the register wouldn’t take it she couldn’t override the system. Walmart and coupons….what a headache!!

    • Maggie

I feel ya! Walmart has some great deals, but those deals don’t mean anything if we cant use a coupons to get said deals.

    • mamabug

I have an awesome Walmart. They never failed to give me overage long before the policy officially changed. Once in a while a cashier will get confused but they take my word for it when I tell them what the policy or whatever means (like them saying do not double means they can’t use more than one like coupon). I really never have trouble there. I LOVE Walmart!

      • momof4spoiled1s

Your one of the lucky ones. That kind of Walmart is few and far between.

        • mamabug

I am thankful, that’s for sure… especially since I live an hour from the nearest town with a store other than Walmart. We don’t have many choices without a long drive so I am glad to be able to get no hassle deals at my store.

    • Kristen

The cashier is wrong and he has no power to ignore the policy. The store manager is the only one who can make any changed and unless he says something different they have to honor it. Call corporate next time you have a problem and they will work it out. If we don’t say anything the store gets away with it.

    • shoehoard

Well said! Using anything other than a manufacturer coupon from a clipped insert is a pain at Walmart. I’m to the point where I don’t bother anymore because not only do the employees not know their own policies, the managers don’t either. Honestly, I can’t stand shopping at Walmart anymore. They hire anyone, have long lines, and have terrible customer service.

  7. Tracey

I’m not specifically talking about this coupon since I don’t know whether it beeps or not if you are buying an item that costs less than $5.

My store has told me more than once since the change of policy that they will not give me overage if they have to manually key in a coupon. If the coupon scans no beeps they don’t care I’ll get the overage, but if they have to key in the coupon I am not getting the overage — they put in the actual cost of the item. Ex: this has happened when I used a $3 gain coupon on an item that cost less than $3 and a $2 coupon on an item that cost less that $2.

    • momof4spoiled1s

They key in the scanned price and then turn the coupon in for face value 🙁

  8. mouni

I’ve been holding on to that coupon for a couple of weeks utill I get a chance to go to Walmart. Does any one know if this brand is for plus size? I wear XS or small so I’m not sure if i’ll find something for myself.

    • mamabug

Just My Size are plus sized clothing that starts at 1X. You could get a t-shirt and sleep in it I suppose. 😉 If you can find something and get overage you could always donate the item that is too large.

      • mouni

Thanks a lot for the info, mamabug! The sleep shirt idea is great, especially since I’m pregnant and need something comfy to sleep in. 🙂

  9. Kimberly

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t feel comfortable getting overage on any product….it feels a bit dishonest. I also, don’t use 2 coupons on BOGO’s…if I’m already getting something for free why would I use a coupon? Maybe I just need to hear someone else’s point of view on this couponing delemma.

    • mamabug

Overage is not dishonest. Look at it this way, the store is getting reimbursed for the full face value of the coupon. If you don’t get the overage then the store does. The manufacturer still pays either way. The way I see it, the overage allows me to purchase more items from said manufacturer (whether in this trip or a future one) and in the end it all works out. As for using two coupons on a B1G1… the store is actually making the same on the transactions when you use two coupons on a B1G1. Think about it… you buy 2 razors. Each are $6.99. You have two $3 off coupons. If you use one coupon you are paying $3.99 for both razors, still not a bad deal for you and the store ends up with the full price of the product since they received part from you and part in the form of a coupon. If you use 2 coupons on the sale then you are paying .99 cents for both razors which is an awesome deal and the store is still making the same amount. They aren’t going to get reimbursed for that free razor no matter how you look at it since it is their promotion but you use two coupons and they still get their $6.99 for the original razor.

      • Kimberly

@ Mamabug…..thank you!!! I totally get it on both points….makes perfect sense!!!

      • mouni

Mamabug, you make great points and I couldn’t agree with you more! 🙂

  10. mamabug

Oh, and TWO razors are still being purchased from the manufacturer by the store so they still receive their cut as well. 🙂

  11. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I gave mine to a lady looking at the JMS clothes I didn’t see anything I liked and didn’t want to waste such a good coupon, so I gave it to her, she seemed very happy, I also gave a girl at work my victoria secret free panty coupon, it was expiring yesterday and I didn’t have time to run and get it. It feels good to help someone else and not waste great coupons.

  12. Kelly D

I used mine a while ago- a hoodie for 3.00 and 2.00 overage.

  13. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

wow if I can get to Walmart I might just buy the magazine if I can find this on clearance. I don’t get that mag in the mail, but I sure wish I did!!! waiting for a sale on it to get a subscription. anyone know of any email me please couponcrazy411@hotmail.com

  14. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

They have a lot of tank tops and t shirts on sale for $5 also that aren’t cleareanced. You should be able to find a good deal either way!

  15. Daven

I love this! I found a pair of j.m.s. jeans for $2 and used the $5 off coupon plus, I got a bottle of Rimmel foundation and used the $3 off coupon in the magazine so I got both things for $.97!

  16. Tricia

I just went to Wally World with 2 JMS $5 off coupons. I ended up with a jacket, a nice blouse, and a sweater for $9 – I spent the extra dollar on some other items. I am putting these items away for my sister for Christmas! I’m super excited about it!! The merchandise was picked over, so everyone must be on this deal 🙂

    Keep up the great work!!

  17. Carrie

Went and got a lightweight sweater to send in a care package to Alabama flood victims. I know it isn’t cold there now, but they will need to replace everything, so I figured why not? Plus, I got my $2 overage applied to my total which made my shampoo essentially free 🙂

I’m on Long Island (NY) and had no problem with the overage.

  18. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I was curious if you could leave a store paying $0. I guess you can!!!

  19. Autumn H

When I clipped this coupon I was wondering what would be “sportswear” but from the looks of these comments I can use it on anything JMS except bras, undies and sleepwear. Thanks guys! I wasn’t sure what I could really use it on when I looked through my stores clearance this past weekend I guess I know now and will be making a trip tomorrow to hopefully score a good deal!

  20. Becky Hunt

My walmart had pants that brand for a dollar!!! YAY

  21. dena

THANKS FOR THE TIPS, EVERYONE. Went to 2 Walmarts today, but neither one had any items less than $3. Wonder if this must be regional or if we should expect the lower priced items soon? I’ll keep an eye out every time I go in for the next couple weeks, though.

  22. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I just got back from Wal-Mart… what a headach! I had selected a plain shirt marked at $3 and the cashier was refusing to use the coupon claiming it wouldn’t work on the shirt and if it did the coupon would have to be lowered to $3. She wouldn’t even try to scan it. So I pointed out that the policy allows overage. I had to wait over 20 minutes for her to talk to her manager. Since it’s the middle of the night the store is super quiet I could hear them and the manager was being quite rude (as was the cashier behind my back) saying that I was just trying to get it for free and that it wouldn’t work. So the cashier brought back the shirt from the picture on the coupon and said that it had to be a shirt like that in order to work. I claimed that it didn’t have to be the item pictured and she called the manager over. I said forget it I’d come in tomorrow and talk to someone else, but she said her manager was right there. Then the manager comes over, will no even look at me, so my husband how was with me starts to explain the situation but she didn’t want to hear it. She’s actually an assistant manager. The cashier was actually a CSM and another CSM had came with the Assistant Manager; she was trying to be nice while the other was extremely rude. So I cut back in and point out where I had got the shirt from and everything. Then once again not acknoledging me, she says “Just do cause I’m not going to stand here arguing w/ HER!” The cashier ask her while she’s walking away if she should lower the coupon down. After I guess nodding (because she went ahead and just scanned the thing) the manager hatefully shouts as she continues to walk away that next time I come in with a coupon that she wouldn’t do that. THEN, she continues to LOUDLY talk about me to the other woman! That manager totally had no people skills what-so-ever!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I also had a bad experience at walmart I am reminded why I dont shop there. I got dirty looks and eyes rolling from the cashier next to us that my cashier asked for help on the coupon to make a long story short I was shaking and very upset. I was trying to keep my composure and not be as ghetto and ignorant as they were.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I wish I could stop shopping there, but it’s a smaller town and there aren’t many places left to go. Most of the remaining stores’ prices are jacked up way too high and I can’t drive an hour to shop every time something is needed. If only. *sigh* I was told by one of the teenagers in the house when I got home my face was red as can be and my lips looked like they were going to explode. I was a cashier that that very Wal-Mart for over 3 years a few years back, which I think adds to my annoyance when things like that happen.

  23. hollyhottamale

woo hoo!! I went to my local Walmart in Cabot Arkansas and bought ten issues of All You- found clearance items for 3.00 and less so my clothing, magazines and tax were paid for!!!! On top of that I noticed a 1.00 off any country crock- my store had the small tubs of honey butter country crock for .97. I ended up paying .19 cents for ten clothing items, ten magazines (with lots of coupons) and 10 tubs of butter!! Great shopping trip for donations- I live in Vilonia, a small town that was destroyed by the 51 mile tornado a few weeks ago- I know my neighbors will appreciate my finds! 😀

    • Sarah

I live not too far from you!! I live in Searcy, AR, and we actually drove through Vilonia 5 minutes after the tornado went through (we were on our way home from visiting my husband’s parents.) That was one SCARY night!! It’s nice to know that there is someone else on here from my area.

  24. Wendy

Loving this coupon! Went my Walmart here in Western KY tonight and though I didn’t find anything on clearance less than $5, I’m still happy with the deals. I didn’t have my issue with me, so I purchased 5 issues and used the coupons out of 4.

I’m also going to check out my other 2 local stores and see what they have on clearance. I would love to find something under $5 and get the overage! I decided this was too good a deal to pass up, since I could really use some new t-shirts. I’ve been looking at the $6 t-shirts for several weeks, but have been having a hard time paying that. But I had a few dollars wiggle room in the paycheck this week, so I decided to go for it 🙂

Factoring in the cost of the magazine and tax on the magazine and clothing items, here’s how it comes out with 6% sales tax. The magazine is $1.99 ($1.88 plus tax), then 30 cents tax for a $5 item = $2.29 for $5 item. Add another $1.06 for each dollar over $5, so a $6 item is $3.35, $7 item is $4.41, etc.

I bought 5 copies of All You, 2 pair of knit pants on clearance for $5 each (down from $15, just marked $11 but I scanned them and they were $5!), 1 t-shirt on clearance for $5, and 1 tank at the regular price of $5. Grand total $11.15. I still have 3 coupons to use (1 from this trip, 1 from my subscription, 1 from a friend’s subscription) so for once I’m actually looking forward to another Walmart trip! :O

  25. KELLY

I tried to use the coupon but the cashier said it would not scan. He showed me a bar card on another coupon I used and said see how this has two. The JMS only has one and it would not scan. Any Ideas?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

The coupon does have two, they are just super close together. Since it is a manufacturer coupon and has not expired he could have keyed it in no trouble at all.

  26. Catherine

    Hi everyone,
Wow, sorry to all of you who have bad WalMarts! I live in the Atlanta suburbs and there is an awesome brand new WalMart near me and they are so nice!!!
I used 5 JMS coupons today on 5 clearance items, 3 pairs of pants for $3 each and 2 sweaters that rang up for $1 each! WOO HOO! Anyway, the cashier wasn’t sure about the coupons, so she brought a manager over and he was awesome and said it was totally fine.
I am donating these items, and told him that and he thought that was really cool. I also verified with him that they are going to get reimbursed for the coupons and he said yes.
I feel for those of you that have gross Walmarts. I’ve been to a few in my lifetime! 🙂

  27. dena

catherine (commenter 26), for the sweaters that rang up at $1 each, did they already have a tag on them that advertised them for $1? Or did they have a higher clearance tag (like $3) and just ring up for a dollar at the checkout? Thanks.

  28. GQMama

Thank you for posting this!!! I just bought 13 shirts and got $5.49 overage back! (If you count the price of the 12 extra All You magazines I bought, it came to $18.92 for 13 new shirts. Not bad!! AND another $900+ worth of coupons in the rest of the All You magazines! Their $5 camis are super cute and can go under anything for summer!

  29. kayla

dang! i went today and they already have june issue out. if anyone has extras that you wont use id love to take em off your hands. id really appreciate it. km0lina102 @ yahoo . com

  30. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

So I tried to use this coupon today and I was told by the cashier that they were told that they could only use the coupon on what is in the picture NOTHING else. That it had to be the shirt and scarf and nothing else. The cashier agreed with me that is should work on more but said that she would loose her job if she rang it up. This Wal-Mart is always so off. The managers are bitter and down right arrogant, so I didn’t even bother with deal with one over it.

Jackilynn, if you’re who I think you are we’re using the same Wal-Mart. Store 113 is horrible and needs a complete manager overhaul.
