Just an FYI the July coupon book coupon doesn’t work on those carefree pads it is only on the more expensive ones. At my Walgreens they even put signs up, I guess too many people were complaining that it didn’t work.

    • Collin

Hmmm… that’s weird. I bought that exact package pictured (I actually took that picture before buying) and the coupon went through perfectly – no beepage at all! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Heather

Worked just find at my WAGS

    • melissa

it beeped probably b/c the store didn’t load the coupon OR took it out of the system.

    • AMY

I GOT BEEPED AT AT MY WALGREENS FOR USING IT BUT THE MANAGER TOOK THE PRICE OFF FOR ME

    • Shayla

it did not work for me either but the manager forced it through; however, they said they were not going to accept it from that point forward.

    • Mandi

I didn’t have any issues using it.

      • APRIL

I tried to do this deal but they would only let me use the coupons on the ones in the picture so it didn’t work 4 me.

    • Jennifer S

Didn’t work at my Wags either. But I’m in a testing area. They told me I had to buy the ones pictured on coupon not the cheaper ones. Coupon beeped on lower priced ones.

    • charmedgirl14

I haven’t had a problem with this deal at all – and I’ve even gone to 3 different area stores! I went today and didn’t have any issues – perhaps it’s individual stores or states?

  2. Caitlin

I wish I had that Gain coupon! ๐Ÿ™ I got a few boxes a few months ago when Rite Aid had that hot deal (I think they were 88 cents each?!). I really like the powder a lot more than liquid!

  3. Lyndee

I tried to get 2 of the $1.49 Carefree liners packs and it beeped on me and they wouldn’t adjust the coupon or anything. I met all the size/quantity descriptions on the coupon…but since they would be free it beeped and the manager said they couldn’t honor the coupon for those! ๐Ÿ™

    • Collin

That’s so odd… I wonder if they have fixed their system since you went? I went this morning and purchases the packages pictured and the coupon went through with no beeps.

      • Lyndee

They might have! I went in early July when the coupon 1st came out..and it wouldn’t work at all. But, I haven’t been back to try again, so they might have fixed it. Thank you for all your help Colllin! I love your site!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Holly K

Which walgreens did you go to? I went to the newer one near the new walmart and they said that coupon is only for the boxed carefree packages. Wouldnt even ring it up. ๐Ÿ™

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I had a similar problem, but they said the coupon was for a special kind of pads…the ones that cost 3.99!! They wouldn’t even ring mine up either!

  4. Janet

In the DFW area and probably other areas, the Gain powder is also on sale for 4.99 at Kroger before 2.00 coupon.

  5. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I also tried to use the carefree coupon on the 22ct and the cashier said I couldn’t because the picture said ultra even though the wording did not…. She told me corporate hated her that’s why they did it… Lol so annoying

    • rebecacha

Same here in Western Mass. Two nasty cashiers told me the picture didnt correspond with the product. I called the manager and he said it was a misprint and he couldnt honor it, so annoying! ๐Ÿ™

  6. Jody

My Walgreens won’t accept this coupon for those either. They informed me before they even rang them up ๐Ÿ™ I wondered why there were still so many on the shelf!

  7. Candice

Walgreens deals never work out they way people say they do, at least where I live! Some people even mention that managers can override beeps on Walgreens coupons. My managers honestly say that they can’t. I had a manager trying over and over again to try and get a coupon to work for me last week and he just couldn’t. I think the systems are different all over the country. My Walgreens said they just recently got new “scanning systems”!

    • Candice

I had the same problem trying to use the Walgreens coupon for the soft pack wipes. My manager tried to use the $1 off Walgreens Huggies wipes coupon and it just consistently beeped at him and he said he had no way to “push” the coupon through. He went and got a hard pack of wipes and the coupon worked fine. So even though the coupon said for 64 or 72 pack it should have said excludes soft packs. I don’t know how people use the coupons and some of us can’t. My manager wanted to let me use the coupon because the soft pack I had fell into the requirements for the coupon, he said there was no way to put it through. He was nice and tried many different things and it just wouldn’t work.

      • LeAnn K

Same problem here!! Held up the line with 2 screaming babies because I got a soft pack!! They need to either accept their own coupons for what they say, or change the wording!!! So Annoyed & Embarrassed!!!

  8. Julie

It seems Walgreens does whatever they feel like doing. It’s a sad state of affairs when their own coupons don’t scan or work.

    • LeAnn K

      AMEN sister!!!

  9. Melissa B

So I done this deal last week as well and they let me have it, but they also said it was for the bigger packages. They were going to put up a sign after I left. It’s a shame how different all the walgreens stores are. You can never get the same answer and deals at the stores. I still love them though!!!

  10. Agnes

if we get 2 Carefree for $1.59 each and use two $0.50 manufacturer coupon and scan the booklet coupon $3/2 that it would make it a MM.. right?(overage) ?

    • Melissa

Good luck with that! My Walgreens STILL won’t let me combine manufacturer coupons w/ the monthly coupon booklets – the fine print on the monthly coupon booklets says “manufacturer coupon good only at Walgreens” (or something like that), so they always tell me it can’t be combined with my coupons. So frustrating!

    • Francoise

Agnes- That’s exactly what I was thinking! But I’m sure it’s a YMMV. It IS Walgreens after all! : )

    • Shelly T.

It worked at my Walgreens tonight. I used two $0.50/1 mfg coupons and the $3.00/2 WAGS booklet coupon. Both sets went through with no beeps. This is in Oklahoma.

    • Lisa

I bought 2 pks ($1.69 ea), and used 1 $.50 man and the $3/2 Wags, but the the $3 Wags coupon beeped if she put it through before the others, so my cashier took off the $3 Wags coupon, scanned all the other manufacturer coupons, and the $3/2 Wags last, and no beeps. I got the overage also.

  11. Jennifer

I’ve used it several times at several different walgreens and never had a problem. I did it about 5 times last week when it was a MM!

    • Michelle

      What is MM?

      • rebecacha

        Money Maker ๐Ÿ™‚

        • Michelle

๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks! I knew it would be something easy that I should have known! Haha! Just having one of those day ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Kelly

I’m experienced the same issue as Elizabeth. Heard a lot of beeps.

  13. Angela

This deal did not work for me either. I’m so irritated with walgreens. They will never price adjust the coupons that are 1 penny over or they won’t even take the coupon if it beeps.

  14. Stephanie

I feel everyone’s frustrations, my walgreens is horrible with coupons! They wouldn’t let me use the huggies coupons out of the book on a soft pack either, and then got rude with me when I tried to explain that I could! My suggestion to everyone is, try a different store. If you are fortunate enough (like I am) to have two or three walgreens’ within 10 miles of you, try there! I went to a neighboring town and found that the walgreens there even keeps extra coupons on hand (that they and other customers clip) so that if you don’t have one, they do!!!!! Not many stores do that! Good luck guys ๐Ÿ™‚

    • rebecacha

I have had issues with both Walgreens in my area, but when I REALLY want a deal I alternate. I should buy a wig…does anyone have a coupon for that? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  15. lmwynn

Last week when they had the sale I got a great deal on the Carefree pantiliners. I bought 2 packs, either 20 or 30 in the pack, I forget. First, I gave the 99 cent in-ad coupon, and then the $3/2 coupon from the July coupon booklet, and then I had two $.50/1 coupons that came with the free samples that were available on a shelf display a month ago. So I ended up with $2.02 to go toward my other items!

    • irene

Whaaat? For me, the register wouldn’t take anything else after the $.99 in-ad. Walgreen’s system is so freakin’ frustrating! Works for some, but not others?

      • PG

Remember you definitely have to give all Walgreens coupons last after manufacturer coupons. Otherwise deals that require both manufactuer and store coupons will almost never work. That’s just the way Walgreens’ registers are programmed.

Also, per other sites this deal is not working for lots of people. Apparently some stores have received orders from their DM to de-program this coupon from their system.

  16. Lacey

I did this deal the beginning of July on 2 of the $1.49 packs. The manager came up read the coupon and the items to make sure everything met the requirements and ended up having to ring the items up as $0.00 to make it work. I love (so far) ‘my’ Walgreens. The managers are great with making sure the customer gets the best deal possible! I hope this trend continues. ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Kim

Worked for me but when I went to get more 2 stores were sold out, there must be alot of extremers in the area because there were only 2 shave creams left too.

  18. Vanessa

I found gain powder 64 -80 load count in apple mango tango and lavender on clearance at Target for $5.24 – $2/1 = $3.24 after coupons!!! I have never used powder before, I figured at .04 cents a load I could afford it!

  19. melani

My walgreens wouldnt let me use the carefree coupon either—or the Huggies on the soft pack of wipes. (two different trips) I tried to argue them both, but they won.

    • melani

Now, it was KY I woulda argued much harder Im sure ๐Ÿ˜›

  20. Christie

I was told the same thing about not being able to use the coupon book Carefree coupon as well. They wouldn’t even try it.

Since we are talking about issues with Walgreens, I would like some input. I put 2 packages of M&Ms on my transaction, and used a 0.75/2 coupon. When I tried to use my RR, they told me that the coupon was off 2 items so I could not use my RR. Their policy says “one coupon per ITEM”. I believe I should be able to use the coupon and the RR. Even after reading the WAGS coupon policy my couponing friend disagrees with me. Thoughts?

    • Julie

Because the M&Ms coupon stated $.75/2, it was probably coded to attach to the 2 M&Ms packages, and not to only 1 of them. I think if you wanted to use a RR in that instance, you’d need another “filler” item (that you didn’t have another manufacturer’s coupon).

      • Christie

I get what the computer was probably thinking…but I think the manager should have been able to override it to be in accordance with the policy of one coupon per item.

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

i work for wags there is way to override it in that instance the register will not let it be done period it will say no items sold if u have a coupon on 2 or 3 it will attach to the 2items like 2 coupons u have to have fillers in this case

        • MommySpendsLess

In this case, I think the computer and the manager were correct.

Maybe try thinking of $X/2 as two coupons. Yes, you only have one physical slip of paper but youโ€™re receiving a discount on two items so your $0.75/2 is like having (2) $0.37/1 couponsโ€ฆ

Perhaps a more accurate way for them to state their policy is that you can’t receive two ‘discounts’ on one item. Being able to use fillers is actually a nice loophole, since most of us purchase fillers that cost much less than the value of the RR.

          • Christie

Well said…I just wish their coupon policy stated what they really meant.

  21. Amy

I was able to use the $3/2 coupon in the July coupon book without a problem, but mine were priced at $1.99 each. Didn’t have any coupons from the 6/26 SS, someone probably took that specific coupon out of my SS insert that week because my neighbor (who bought the same same Sunday paper) got one and I didn’t. ๐Ÿ™

  22. Abby N

If I have a Walgreens coupon from the ad that says ‘limit 4’ and I want to buy 4 items, do I need to clip 4 individual in-ad coupons or will that one coupon deduct from all 4 items? Hope that made sense!

    • Julie

At Walgreen’s, you only need 1 of their store coupons and it will deduct the discount for the multiple like items. Sometimes it’ll work for more than the stated limit, like 6 instead of 4.

  23. Jayna

I was able to useit a while back when they had a sale on them but when I went to use it last week they said the coupon in the July book was a miss print and was suppose to be for the bigger packages. I just said fine I dont want them then. I really thought about calling corporate and asking if that was correct but just decided to let it go.lol

  24. Pilar

I feel all y’alls pain on this. I quit shopping at Walgreens back with the Splenda deal (sale $2.99) and no manager would adjust down the $3.00 coupon. Done. Done. Done. Don’t even read their ads anymore. Just like Target. Haven’t stepped foot in there in going on 2 years. I concentrate on CVS for the money back deals but lately, they’re as bad as Walgreens with empty shelves Sunday morning. Still waiting for the Bic Shimmer razor deal from 3 weeks ago…it will be on sale again before I can use my raincheck!

  25. Josie

Can anyone tell me if this GAIN can be used in HE machines? Thanks!

    • Janet

I just looked all over the box and there is no mention of it….sorry!

  26. ashley

yeah… that coupon has def. beepage issues… i went a few weeks ago and used it on the ones in the picture but it still beeped! cue a super embarassing scenario where the cashier had to call over the male manager and his male trainee… the entire transaction was about 20 minutes of the guys holding the liners/pads and comparing them to the picture…. ๐Ÿ™

  27. Delilah

I bought the Carefree last week with the $3 coupon when they were on sale for $.99 and there was overage, so it went towards the rest of the stuff that I bought. The regular price at my store is $1.98

  28. piercedcat

I tried to use the coupon the other week too when they were ยข99 but it wouldn’t work and the manager came over said I don’t know, it’s probably the wrong item and left (she was so fast I didn’t even see her face). The coupon said any pantyliner so it should havve worked. I was very upset. I went to a different walgreens this past sunday, and had the friendliest cashier who said she’d help me with any coupon isses and even had the elusive summer beauty coupon book that she gave me (elusive to me since some stores are run by idiots). So I think a lot of it has to do with the store manager.

  29. Mari

Isn’t the gain coupon for liquid gain only?

    • Jo Ann

      Mine were for Powder ONLY.

  30. Gina

I love the smell of Gain…………hopefully it will go a little lower I just stocked up on wisk at 1.49 for 32 loads….for my he washer……

  31. Emily

Our Walgreen’s here in OR had signs up saying the packs of 20-22 do not work with the July book coupon. Bummer!
