The idea that I’d like to share is my family’s nearly free picnic. We collected everything in the photo (including the bag) and had a wonderful picnic. Many of the items were mentioned on your site, a few were not. The apples were “purchased” with a rebate coupon from Fred Meyer – get $3 off $3 of produce, and the eggs were a freebie from signing up with the new Safeway program. It cost us about $1.50 out of pocket – including milk for our tea, and the extra we paid for the lunch meat, which was only 20 cents a pack. It was a great family experience to collect and gather the necessary items for a picnic!
HAPPY FRIDAY!

Jessica says:
lots of people just straight up eat hard boiled eggs. and a thermos with boiling water does the trick for the rest…
C. says:
A lot of people add the boiled egg to their ramen. Pretty good actually!
Holly says:
Thanks for sharing, I love inspiration for my own savings fun.
CiCi says:
Very fun! I like to make a goal for my couponing/freebies too! Last year we rented a lake house with family and I offered to supply the food for the week. Was to supply all the food for 6 adults for a week for less then $100 thanks to this site. Took me about 3 months.

I have been wanting to do a picnic for a while..I am inspired now! Anyone else get the Zevia for free at Whole Foods? My tatste buds were not satisfied…ew! LOL
Em says:
I tried a Stevia Dr. Pepper the other day, it was less than thrilling.
LJ says:
I wasn’t crazy about the Zevia either. Out of desperation for a carbonated drink, I mixed the grape Zevia with some Ocean Spray Grape Cranberry drink and it’s actually pretty good!
Mo says:
Same here. Orange was gross. Wondering if any of the flavors are worthwhile? Anyone??
G. says:
The Ginger ale is pretty good as long as its cold.
TJ says:
The root beer isn’t thaaat bad. Especially for free! LOL the diet cola is horrible.
Sarah O. says:
I love the black cherry and grape.
Nicole says:
I liked the root beer too, but I also liked the Dr pepper. I hope these go on sale and make for a good deal again soon!
rach says:
I want to do this too!thanks for sharing!

Jenifer says:
Great job! Why do you put milk in your tea?
Renee says:
My husband’s family is from England and they put milk in their hot tea. I think it makes for a smoother taste.
katie says:
Love the bag! Where did you get it? Thanks!
thelostpond says:
I love milk in my tea and sometimes a small amount of honey.
Heidi says:
Awesome idea!! Thanks for sharing!
Kim says:
Kim, here – the bag was from a Udi’s gluten free giveaway awhile back, and the hot water for tea and noodles was heated up with a mini camp stove. Yes, milk in tea is the English way – delicious! Yes, I too was not crazy about the Zevia, glad it was free! However, it was still a great picnic!
