This will work with the Ziploc freezer bags that require a hand pump to suck out the air. We have an older handheld model that isn’t rechargeable..works great!

Thanks Collin! I bought one to use when I send deployment boxes to my honey 🙂 Now my cookies will last longer.

I am seriously debating this. I was wondering though if any of you have tried the Ziploc Vacuum Pump? I’ve read it requires a decent amount of pumping but i don’t mind the workout. Any suggestions?

I’ve been considering something like this as well. Can you buy spare bags in the store? Are they fairly cheap? I normally buy hamburger buy the lb. already ready but I thought buying it bigger and bagging myself might save money over time?

If you are planning on doing a lot of vacuum sealing, please investigate the cost of the bags before you make a quick decision. There are vacuum sealers out there the use any kinds of bags which hold a vacuum seal (cheese comes in such a bag), mylar bags, and also have optional attachments to vac seal reuseable jars, like marachino cherry jars. If you have to buy a $.50 bag for everything you seal, your savings can quickly disappear!

If you have a chest deep freezer and have ever let meat shuffle down to the bottom and you found it 2 years later and had to throw it away it really makes on of the nice models worth it. Yes the bags are expensive but I buy my meat in bulk and have saved alot of money and time with my large counter model. I buy fruit in season and freeze it, cheese at Costco in bulk, and grow veggies and freeze them too. My favoriteis how quickly things thaw when they are in the Foodsaver bags, and it does not leak in my fridge! If you are on the fence about getting one of the large models go for it.

I second that! I have been buying mostly meat in bulk, and finally last year broke down and spent the cash on a counter model foodsaver. It is amazing! My chicken is frozen in portion sized bags for our family, and now I use it for everything. I found the rolls (make your own bag ones) on sale twice now at Walmart bogo, which really does make it affordable. I tell all of my friends if they buy in bulk they need to get one!!!

I use this sealer for cookies, cheese, fruits, veggies, and other things that we get into frequently. The bags are washable too!

I have one of these and I love it! For those that don’t know, this model is not meant for long term freezer storage. I use it to keep items fresh in the fridge such as cheese and veggies. I also use it to help keep stuff fresh when I go camping. The bags that you use with this model are washable. I hand wash them, and so far, only one has let air seep in. They just advise that you toss the bags if you put raw meats in them. I hope this helps a bit!!
