These can cause hip displaysia in infants
Agreed, carriers like the ergo are much better for baby hip development: https://wellnessmama.com/12549/steps-to-help-avoid-hip-dysplasia-in-babies/
OMG my baby is 6 months old and my husband used to carry him in the bjorn ALL the time! =( sucks that I didn’t know about this till now
Same here, yikes!
I carried my infant and she is just fine. This carrier did not hurt my back and my child enjoyed being able to face me or face out. I LOVED THIS CARRIER!!
My mom used a carrier exactly like this when I was born, apparently it was really popular at the time. I’ve got sway back now and scoliosis affecting my hips, and have to go to the chiropractor once or twice a week to keep the pain down. I wish the information against these carriers was available in the early nineties, it could’ve helped.
Here’s another good link about why these crotch dangler disasters should be avoided. I wish I had known when my oldest was a wee one. I thought all carriers were as horribly uncomfortable and bothersome as the Bjorn models.

Agree with others–the Ergo is much better (heck, ERGOnomics Is right in their name haha!). Worth the money for one. I still carry my 2 year old in it, and even carried my 4 yr old a couple times!
Anyone else thought that the first picture looked like a cool ninja mask? Lmao, i scrolled down more and saw pics of babies than realized it was a carrier.
or a jock strap… unfortunate first impression!
Ditto the above. These make me cringe every time I see a mother using them. Save some money and go with an Ergo, Mei Tai, Ring-Dlung, or Moby Wrap…prices vary. Also, baby should always face the wearer! It’s a natural position for baby. Many of these carriers allow for back or hip carrying positions so the little one may see.
I use a variety of baby wearing devices, mostly the kind that are a big long piece of fabric. My babies have always enjoyed sitting in them with the back if their head on my sternum…
