Even with coupons, Walgreens is too costly. I can get everything cheaper at Walmart unless the item is on sale of course at Walgreens. But I don’t follow Walgreens.

I am new to couponing, but made my first trip with coupons to Walgreens on black Friday. I had a lot of register rewards, so I split my order up in two transactions. The first consisted of approximately 10 items that would give me register rewards. The second was for 5 items and I would use most of the register rewards to pay for them. I have shopped at this Walgreens for 20 years and never processed two transactions in one visit.

I let others go in front of me in line and then when the line cleared up at my register I went through. The Manager who was ringing up customers in another line heard me say I would be doing two transactions and he yelled at my cashier that I could only do one at a time – he was extremely rude which my cashier acknowledged and didn’t appreciate either. I told her I would go to the back of the line (by then another customer was behind me) which I did. Should I report him or let this one go? I have noticed he is rude to anyone who uses coupons – that is why I did not go to him. I give this Walgreens a lot of business through their store and pharmacy and I don’t appreciate that he was yelling across the aisle just because I was trying to save a few dollars. Maybe I should make him aware of the thousands of dollars I have spent on prescriptions and clinic visits. Sorry for the long message, but I just wanted to get other’s opinions about this incident and if I should report him to the corporate office.

I would report it but also let them know how much you enjoy their store (minus him). Let them know he acts like this consistently, and you do not think it feels good to other customers when he yells. I have two Walgreens near me but drive to the farther one just to avoid a similar situation during my big couponing trips. I love the nice stff at the farther store and have let corporate know that. At the very least he will know that customers notice the rude behavior. It sounds like you were a courteous shopper anyhow, no need for his outburst.

Report Him! You are not doing anything wrong

I would call corporate….he is a bad manager and I find that people who are like that are probably just mad at the world…

      • Chris L

Thank you everyone for your comments. I will be calling their corporate office on Monday.

I know what exactly you are talking about & how it feels. I had a very bad experience last Sunday at CVS too. I had stopped shopping at walgreens because the manager here try to shows that you are taking out something free from his store & same issue I had with CVS. I know we are not doing anything wrong but something the situation become awkward. The manger hates me so much even if I am not using coupon she give me that look why are you in store?! I only go there 1-2 times a month & I wasn’t doing any couponing from last 4 months. These people shows like they owns the store & deals that we are getting is something wrong act. I am very unhappy about cvs & walgreens here. I am not sure I am the only one who is in this situation.

I used to coupon like you a long time ago it’s employees that think they own the store that ruin the couponing experience for all of us. I’d definitely call coporate on Monday you will feel better stet venting to them but unfortunately I doubt anything will improve. Good luck.

      Thank you Jill.

My suggestion is to look at every single Walgreen’s receipt you get, and you’ll see that at the end of every single one, they give you a survey opportunity. I fill out that survey, for however many transactions I get (so, in your case here, twice), and put down kudos for the good people, and not-so-kudos for the not-so-good people. I’m never directly mean, and I’m never specific enough that the situation can be pinpointed if it’s a bad one. If he’s yelled across the aisle on you, I’m certain that he’s done it to others. I’m sure you could mention that.

Just be sure, if you do fill out the surveys, that you put down that your well liked cashiers did things like told you to “be well”, because it’s Walgreen’s branding, and part of the multiple choice on the survey. They do get write ups for not saying that, when they answer the phone, when you walk out the door, they’re required to greet you when you come in with some funky little branded saying. Just make sure on the survey if they ask some funky question, that you probably want to say “yes” in order to not get your cashiers in trouble. Crap rolls downhill, usually to the cashiers. But there’s always a section where they ask about specific experiences, one spot for good and one spot for bad. And it’s an essay type answer.

You only have 72 hours to do this, though, or something, from the time of the trip
