What do people put inside the easter eggs for children under 2? For the older kids I always can fit candy and money in them, but for the younger kids who can’t eat candy yet I am stumped what to fill them with. Any suggestions?

Goldfish or other tiny crackers, stickers, coins for their piggy bank, small toys like little people or animals.

Go to your local Dollar Tree (or any dollar store) in the toy section. Dollar stores are goldmines when it comes to egg hunts! They have bags of snakes, frogs, bugs, dinosaurs, and TONS of party toys. I put one in each egg, so it stretches far.

Here are some other ideas (various ages, mine are 2-6): Cheerios, mini pretzels, hair clips/bows, marbles (NOT for little ones), erasers, temporary tattoos, finger puppets, fruit snacks, legos, Chuckie Cheese Tokens, Interlocking Rings (fun for babies/toddlers), small toy car, magnetic letters, squinkees, bracelets, bouncy ball, bubbles, Jacks (not for babies), Lip balm, balloon, nail stickers, ring, fun/colorful bandaids, Glow in the dark stars, Sponge Capsules (the ones you put in water to dissolve the capsule and a sponge shape β€œgrows” out of it), Stickers, mini nail polish (for MOM to paint her nails), play dough, fun keychain, earrings (pierced/clip-on/stick-on), Nilla wafers, ponytail holders, cheap beaded necklace for dress up, foam shapes/stickers, a kazoo, whistle, mini rubber stamps, googly eyes (sticky-backed ones), wind-up toys, a top to spin, egg-shaped shakers, mini slinky, Teddy Grahams, Animal Crackers, Fruit Loops, army men, finger lights, Silly Bandz, and pictures of larger items (the larger gift is hidden in the house!)

        I hope that helps!

The Easter egg shaped play-dough containers that comes out around this time. They fit perfectly in the large plastic eggs. Also Gerber puffs and the yogurt melts, or some natural fruit snacks fit well and they can eat them right there if they want. Also hair bows, or hair ties, or things like that.

Hi Mary. When my daughter was 2 and under, I bought a few large to jumbo eggs, and put Fisher-Price Little people in them. The jumbo/ giant eggs you can buy separately at the Dollar Tree; and can probably fit 2 or 3 LP. Half of the egg is clear, the other half colored. I also found that the large – fat bunny shaped eggs at DT would fit Little People. πŸ™‚

Is anyone familiar with how long the “free shipping” usually takes for the order to arrive? I’d love to get some stuff for my daughter’s birthday, but it’s coming up here in a couple weeks, so I just want to make sure it will arrive on time. Thanks in advance. πŸ™‚

    • Rachel

I’ve always gotten my orders within a week. They ship pretty fast.
