I bought this last time it was $10
And I don’t see what’s so special about it, it seems just like an expensive Vaseline. Any help?
It’s a healing ointment and it is very different than vaseline. It is used in burn centers as a water barrier…My family has been using it for many years for many reasons…try it and you will find out.
It all depends, this is the only product that works on my daughters eczema, just two days ago she has a breakout, I slathered her in it and by morning it was barely there! Def snagged one, pretty great price for not leaving my home
I bought it for my daughters eczema as well, maybe I should use it longer on her. I usually use Vaseline.
My newborn had very bad drool rash all over his cheeks, neck and chin. I read that Aquaphor was the best to treat and prevent it. But being cheap I bought a big jar of Vaseline since it was cheaper and same ingredient. But his rash remained. So I used a sample tube of Aquaphor and within hours his rash was improving. I don’t know why since it is petroleum too but it works like magic. Now his skin is back to being baby smooth.
Thanks so much!!
Aquaphor is AMAZING! It is different than Vaseline because of its inactive ingredients (lanolin, mineral oil, and ceresin) that hold in moisture, not just the petrolatum. You will become addicted once you start using this. My son has severe eczema in the winter, and I mix the aquaphor with Cetaphil moisturizing cream….works like a dream!!
Don’t know how great a deal this is but worked wonders for my lo dry skin
pretty good deal…it’s usually $15+
Thanks Colin! I love this stuff! Use it on my kiddos since they were born! Makes a great lip gloss too!
I use it on both of my kids for any and everything. One is still in diapers and is great on diaper rashes. My other is potty trained but sometimes get irritations and the Aquaphor clears it right up.
$9.46 with tax if you have 5 or more subscribe and save items… YAY…
My late husband was given this 10 years ago when he was undergoing radiation treatment. It protected his skin from the radiation burn/peeling. I’ve used it ever since for myself and 2 boys. My youngest had a second degree burn and it is barely visable after a month of daily treatment. Great deal, excellent product!
I need some help.my daughter is 3mnths old now and her skin is extremely dry i brought this ointment when last time this deal was posted,i used it on her but i didnt c much difference so i tried many other things in few days like coconut oil etc but still nothing.so my ques is should i hold on on aquaphor for few more days and how many times you guys apply it in a day and is it safe for my duaghters skin?plz help
Have you cut down on # of baths? Can you use a humidifier? The air is so dry in winter. Good luck, and definitely call a doc if it doesn’t improve!
Yes i give her bath with just warm water no soap every alternate day.dr says its normal but i am really concern.will humidifier help??
Thankyou
Not sure if this is helpful to you or not, but I started bathing my daughter much less in the winter. My SIL said she bathes her babies once a week (or obviously when they need it- if they have a diaper explosion or fight you on medicine). I started bathing my daughter about once every 5 days after that and use a humidifier and coconut oil and her skin is better.
Thankyou laura..i think i m going to get a humidifier now and will give her less baths.thanku once again.
I give my daughter (3 months) a bath every week now since her dr said giving it to her every alternate day wasn’t nessasary
My daughter started experiencing severe eczema and skin irritations when she was around 1 month old. The first thing we were told by our pediatrician and subsequently a pediatric dermatologist was to use fragrance free everything. So we started using Burts Bee’s fragrance free hair / body wash and switched to fragrance free detergent (dreft is a common irritant) and fabric softener. She also highly recommended this Aquaphor and to bathe every other day leaving the skin slightly damp when applying the Aquaphor. While these “tips” improved the situation we ended up have to go to several prescription creams and an oral antihistamine to improve and eventually correct the problem. If she seems miserable I would highly recommend seeing a pediatrician or dermatologist as soon as possible. Not only did her skin improve, but her overall demeanor improved significantly since she wasn’t so itchy anymore. Good luck with your little girl!!!!!
I use fragrant free products and you are right i think i should ask her dr again.and how do i know if it is due to the detergent,i use ‘all’ baby detergent..actually i use everything that is fragrant free for her except the detergent bcoz its the only reason she smells lil good after all the spitting.thanks a lot jen.
Anything that will touch her skin might be the cause for irritation. I know they smell good but try a fragrance free detergent first then see if there is any difference.
Since you mentioned the spitting up, I would discuss a possible allergy. My son had “baby acne” and congestion from the day he was born, his first dr said it was normal, then that he had eczema. We finally went to another pediatrician due to another issue and she immediately diagnosed it as an allergy to the Gerber good start formula we were using. She also told me to only bathe him once a week. We switched formulas and everything cleared up almost instantly. Don’t change diet without the advice of a dr reviewing your case but keep at it until you find the solution.
Thankyou maria.I am breast feeding her now but will definitely talk to my dr about it.thankyou.
Allergens can pass through Breastmilk! My daughter has terrible allergies that cause her to be red and inflamed and have ezcema. I’m only nursing but have to watch everything I eat.
My daughter had eczema when she was just a few months old. When I started feeding her solid food I started with apples. Turns out she was having allergic reactions to the fruit I was eating and then nursing her. I quit eating fruit and between that and aquafor and limiting baths, her irritation went away.
Maria,
What formula did you find that worked best for you?
I’m not that same Maria that commented before lol but I use similac advanced for my daughter and she seems to be doing well with it
raw shea butter works amazingly for extra dry skin. I buy it off of amazon for like $5 for a pound of it. it doesn’t take much at all – 3 pea sized pieces to cover my almost 10 year old head to toe. We do it twice a day and Since we started using the raw shea butter we have been able to control her eczema without any prescription steroid creams. it’s not really greasy but it does sort of make your skin look shiny. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this stuff. it’s amazing.
Never tried shea butter before, will give it a try on myself first and thn on her.thankyou.
Which raw Shea butter product do you buy off of Amazon? I’m interested in trying this out. Thanks!
Could you provide a link please? I use coconut oil for myself, but I am interested in this for myself.
Thankyou once again all you ladies.i knew that i will get help here.so glad that i found hip2save:)
My husband and I use it for after we get a tattoo…works amazing
We use this all the time too at night on our kids’ hands and then put socks over. But I am curious too, what is the ingredient that makes it different than just Vaseline/petrolatum????????
That is the only active ingredient listed and then the inactive ingredients are:
mineral oil,
ceresin,
lanolin alcohol,
panthenol,
glycerin,
bisabolol
So does anyone know which inactive ingredients makes it so much better than straight Vaseline???
