   I thought they always gave a free dougnut when their sign was lit. They closed a very busy location in my town a couple of years ago. Now they just opened one in the town immediately south and another is opening just north in a few weeks. Nice to have a store somewhat close again.

   Haha! Don’t we all wish! When their sign (HOT) is lit, that means the donuts just came out the oven 😜

  I move a lot and for the past at least 20 years but I have been told all my life, my family and anyone else in the store have always been given one free fresh donut when the sign is lit.

  I had the same experience Kim…. when light is lit u will get a free donut when u ask…:) Had this way in IL and OH. Always thought its the same everywhere.

  In Wichita, KS you get a hot glazed donut when the light is on and you don’t even have to ask!

   Maybe it’s regional. That’s not the case in the VA, DC, or CT shops I have been to – there, sign lit just means the donuts are hot out of the oven.

   Same here. They always give out free glazed doughnuts while customers wait in line. I’ve never not had a free one when I went in!

   In CA area where I live, they used to give out one fresh donut to everyone (when asked) when the light was on. Now, they only give it to the little ones.

   On other side, get a FREE small premium roast coffee from McDonald’s from February 23rd to March 1st, 2015! No purchase necessary.

   Actually it says the 1,000th store is opening…and everyone (not just the first 1,000) gets a free donut. Also in our Sunday paper, there was a coupon for a completely free (any type) donut. I wasn’t sure if it is a national coupon since it was a KC paper.

   Ugh, they closed all of the Krispy Kremes here almost 10 years ago…. There was nothing better than getting the hot donuts on a Sunday morning. I miss it so much 🙁
