Only giving me option for right handed throwers? Oh well. Nice buy for righties 🙂

My daughter isn’t playing softball this year! I’m so sad, but didn’t want to pressure her to do something she’s not interested in anymore. This is the first time in 3 years I won’t be watching her play… Guess I’ll have to find a new summertime hobby.😒

I’m in the same boat. My son is done playing baseball after 7 years. I loved getting my base tan at the baseball fields lol. But it really is best for them to do what they love and if they don’t love it anymore that’s ok too.

Looking for some advice — My son is 4, just starting tball. I have no idea if he’s right handed or left! He played soccer left-footed, and generally throws left handed. But he bats and writes right handed. We kind of just let him do whatever side feels better to him at the time. We bought him a glove for both hands lol Anyone else ever experience this? I’m not sure how to help him practice when I don’t know what hand to work with!

Since he throws left, I’d put him as left handed at least for tball. My son is a leftie but does stuff with his right too. Or you could play catch and see which hand he throws better with. My inlaws believe left batters? are better for baseball but I don’t remember why.

I would take him outside and have him throw and swing the bat both righty and lefty and ask him what feels better. Seems like he is a lefty though based on what you said

you’re right on there buying one for each hand and letting him get used to both… many kids are still ambidextrous at that age when they might not be a few years from now. my son played soccer and kicked equally well with both feet, swings baseball bats and golf clubs equally well with both sets (he started swinging lefty so we bought him those but he could pick up my daughter’s too and hit them just as well) and when he’s batting, he’ll switch sides just to mess with his friends or whomever is pitching to him. he also plays ice hockey now and though he skates out as a lefty for his regular stick, he plays righty as a goalie, which actually work really well because he catches baseball with his left better, and his top hand for hockey is his right so in goal that hand is the one controlling the stick. he’s now 8, and has been like this since 4 or so, though he was throwing soft balls around the house with either arm back then and now mostly only throws with his right. my point is that he’s switched back and forth several times, with confidence, and depending on the sport and the action within, he can go either way with his handedness… when you go out to play with him, let him have access to both gloves and see which feels better. he might end up throwing betting with one hand, but actually being more confident catching with that hand as well, so just strengthening the off hand over time might make him a more capable player… let him try both and get used to both and see what comes of it. no need to make a determination right away, as he could change two more times in the next few years.

Would this be the size glove for 6-7 yr old?

    • Aly

Yes, this is a good size for that age

I am wondering, too. Look at the Amazon reviews ($20 on Amazon, model Genesis). Seems like it would be adequately sized, but maybe a little big, which must not be a big deal?? I went for it for my 6.5 yr old. Thanks Collin!
