Target Price Match Policy Hip2SaveAs I mentioned yesterday, Target just released a new price-matching policy that is effective starting today, October 1st! The biggest and most exciting change is that you can now price match a total of TWENTY-NINE online competitors listed hereincluding Amazon.com, Costco.com, and SamsClub.com (so excited that they are matching warehouse clubs!), Diapers.com, SportsAuthority.com and even Ulta.com. And you can price match both at your local Target store AND online at Target.com. Target is also doubling the time frame in which you can take advantage of a price match on a product – from 7 days to 14 days for products bought both in store and online.

Are they going to allow us to price match AND use coupons?

    • Swirlypop

You can read policy through Collin’s link. It states no cartwheel or target coupons with price match. HTH

      • lacey

I knew manufacturer were accepted, but still wasn’t clear on cartwheel and store.

    • Stacy

Manufacturer coupons will be accepted, and applied after price match. No Cartwheel or Target coupons.

      • Becky

Does that include pm with Target.com? Still no Target Q or cartweheel?

  2. christina

So you would still need to show them the price on your phone, right? When I’ve gone there before they said they needed a printed copy not the phone.

    • eyez1998

target SHOULD have a tablet at customer service and they look it up right there

      • Kim

Most locations have an iPad that looks up prices from all the stores by scanning barcode. But I have a few stores in my area that do not and they are fine just showing my phone at cs. But I have also only used it with amazon app and I scan the item right infront of them so it might be different depending where you are.

    • Jessi

Every time I’ve priced matched they pull it up on their tablet.

      • Vivian

Mine want to be able to pull up on their own tablet

    • Judy

my store ONLY allows price match at customer service counter, and ONLY on their IPAD

  3. Joanna

I really hope they honor this in store. I’ve been having trouble price matching and using a manufacture coupon.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Maybe print out this policy and bring it with you πŸ™‚

  4. jnetlew!

Just watched cbs this morning report on this. They said less than 5% actually will price match. I guess the 5% resides on hip2save! πŸ˜„

    • Denise

      That’s funny

  5. Kim

I love everything except no more rain checks, but I guess for those items I will price match them elsewhere. Seems odd with Christmas coming up half the toy isle last year had rain checks hanging on the tag for weeks. If they do not plan ahead with demand it’s not going to be good for business.

    • Russell

They still give rainchecks lol. You are just confused. They will not give you a raincheck for the competitors price if target is out of stock. You can still get a raincheck for said item at targets sale price.

      • Far

If the system (on the specific store) showed SALE at their store, the SYSTEM would allowed to print a raincheck. If the sale going on on different store (but not a the store you request the raincheck); then the system WON’T allow to print the raincheck either. As well as clearance item, system won’t allow to print the raincheck. So you CAN’T just say: “Oh hey, this item on sale, then they can print a raincheck; the raincheck system is programmed certain way to print. Nobody can even override the system, not even the manager.

  6. JA

At my local store, I’ve been allowed to price match to the Target online price and then use the cartwheel. It looks like the new policy prohibits this. πŸ™

    • K

The old policy had a section in it about price match and cartwheel. Some stores allowed it even though it wasn’t Target’s policy, and some employees just didn’t know the policy.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

That’s right, new policy will not accept Cartwheel offers with price match.

    • Jenn

My stores have never allowed a price match AND cartwheel or a Target coupon- it was one or the other!

  7. Nikole

How will it work matching the clubs? The products are not the same in size.

    • Jennifer Mireles

      Wondering the same.

    • Vivian

I think club is more for electronics like TV, vacuums, iPads, etc- they’ll only want to match exact item

  8. Lynn

Target is a rip off anyway! The local target argues every coupon, they make up their own policies about coupons and they take coupons from you, don’t scan them then refuse to give them back!!!! That store could blow up and I would bring marshmallows, graham crackers and Hershey bars from walmart and have a party!!!!!! Corp doesn’t care either! They are all about stealing from people because their store sucks!

    • Erica

      Wow.

    • Brie

I have a target 5 mins from house that is like this. So if I use coupons I drive to the target 20 mins away!!!

    • Vivian

Take the survey on the bottom of receipt if you feel mistreated during the shopping trip. They take those surveys seriously and I’m pretty sure bad ones go to the district manager to view too- at least it’s like that with most retail stores

    • Lynne

I love target. But, some stores do seem better with customer service than others.
But, Walmart is like a four letter word in our house. I have tried using coupons (just a few) at several locations and it has been horrible. Long lines, uneducated/uninformed cashiers.
One time, the cashier would not let me use all my coupons because they would not allow overage. (I had won free donuts for a year redeemable through coupons and bottle return slips). After standing in line for 20 minutes and several more minutes trying to resolve the issue, I eventually just asked to cancel the transaction so i could leave because I had to be somewhere. I could not even get my coupons back. And,the manager followed me out to my car and wrote down my license plate number.

      • Far

        That is messed up!

  9. Vivian

Wow, limit of 1 price match per identical item? So now we can’t stock up on good deals. I would sometimes score a bunch of goodies for my toy closet price matching, but can’t do that now

    • Tatyana

it was one match before too

  10. highlighter

will target.com match clearance item price in store?

  11. Sam 1

    Wow Lynn that’s a creative comment πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

    • Laura

I was thinking the same thing

  12. Linda

If anyone has a $5 Kohls cash or yes2you rewards that expires tonight that you are not going to use, I would really like to have it. I recently lost my job and I really want to buy this dress for my daughter that she really wants for her birthday next week. My email is lionss4321@gmail.com
    Thank you

    • NavyMom

      Check your email. πŸ™‚

      • Shay

        Navy mom you rock!

      • Alba

Wow NavyMom that’s really nice of you!

  13. Olivia

Does anyone know how this works with produce and meats??

  14. Katie

FYI, last time I was in a City Target, they said they do not the price matching like a regular Target store and they also would not accept my return from a Target store. It’s pretty confusing because to consumers they seem like the same store but in reality they function like a different store altogether. Has anyone else had these issues?

    • Jlove

I’ve never even heard of city target! Going to look for more info now…

  15. Jane

the gift card was omitted in this recent update. so it says that you can’t price match store’s gift card offers, but now it doesn’t mention if you can price match and take part of the gift card deal AT target… anyone have any input?

  16. Laura

None of this matters – Certain Target stores will continue to make up their own rules as they have in the past.

    • Nikole

      As they always have

  17. Nikole

At my target it really depends who is helping you some days i go they will price match and other days they have told me they only price match with a physical ad this all happens in the same store so i it’s just a matter of the lazy ones….and Walmart i won’t even shop there i tried to take advantage of a target price at walmart even took the ad and the cashier told me they dont do price match anymore i told him i do it all the time he responded “oh we only do it around the holidays” just wow

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sorry to hear that Nikole πŸ™

  18. A

I like the old policy. Cartwheel and target coupons is what makes you buy at target. Otherwise we can just buy it at the store with the lower price.

    • Laura

Exactly! What’s the point of shopping at target? It won’t be a better deal- because for some reason they’ll find a reason not to accept the Amazon price or where ever your trying to match

      • Lindsay

My store always matches Amazon. I usually match toys and hair care products. Never had a problem and I’ve been price matching for years πŸ˜€

  19. maflies1

Collin, Am I the only one who is reading this wrong? I have been trying to find all 29 stores, per your post. Please enlighten me. LOL ” total of TWENTY-NINE online competitors listed here – including”

    • b

Collin put the link right at the top of her post “29 online competitors here” and click on the “here” it will show all the stores HTH

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yes, click above on “here” and you will find the complete list πŸ˜‰

  20. KP

Those surveys are a key for communication between you and your target store! I know someone that works for target and the manager congratulates her every so often cause she get amazing feedback! It works the other way around also so if you leave your target feeling like they didn’t treat you right fill out the survey. Something will be done about it!

  21. Rose

How can they (Target.com and Target) match Costco’s or Sam’s Club’s products? The size at warehouse clubs are much bigger than Target’s.

If I buy it at Target.com, who should I talk to do the price-match?

Also, do they match BJ’s Cub’s products?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

For a price match when shopping at Target.com you can “call Target.com Guest Services at 1-800-591-3869” Hope that helps! πŸ™‚

  22. mickey

NOTE Cartwheel offers and Target coupons CANNOT be combined with price match. Manufacturer coupons will be applied after a price match is made per Target’s coupon policy.
