Now my question is we have a different set that my friend just gave to or toddler. Will we be able to connect this set with a different one?

The above set is the ‘new’ track design. My son hates it. We’ve collected Thomas for about 3 years now, and everything we had was the old style track (dark tannish? in color). The new track clicks together. You actually have to push one side into the other for it to hook, instead of the old kind where you could just hook them together or lay them on the floor and push them together. Also, the new engines (with the spiked wheels) aren’t compatible with the old style sets. For example, we have Flynn’s Rescue set, and because of the spiked wheels, the new engines won’t turn the little wheel that makes house that’s on fire work. The new engines are a different dimension slightly as well. We were really disappointed when they made this new design and haven’t bought a set since. They are compatible with the old sets with an adapter piece. We just really don’t like the style of the new set and find it’s harder for my son to play with.
We have tons of wooden and Take n Go sets. We have a couple Trackmaster trains without tracks. Will the old trains work well with the new tracks? TIA!
They work ‘Ok’. The new track designs are meant to be used with the new engines (with spiked wheels). They generally have steeper hills that the old engines can’t climb and just slide on. But the engines will run on the new track. All the functions of the new track may not work though.

Anyone have this one? I can’t find reviews on Amazon or Target, but I think my son would like this. Just not sure I want to drag the kiddos to target for it…
I don’t have this particular set, but we have several other trackmaster sets that my son really enjoys.
They’re pretty much all good can’t got wrong if your son likes trains/Thomas. It’s all our little guy plays with 🙂
My 3 year old has it…at this price I’d say get it. It’s neat because the train stops by Harold then you press a button and the train gets “airlifted” down.
There is a terrific review of it on youtube where the guy demonstrates how it is used and points out the minor flaws. Based on this, I snapped one up first thing this morning

Those that have track master sets already, what age range are you buying them for? I have a son who turned 2 in September. He loves trains! He has a small vtech car track that he likes so I’m wondering if he would be old enough to play with this too?
He would be old enough. It says 3-6, but my son is 2 and has a couple of them and loves. As long as you set up, he’ll be good to go.
My son got a set for his 2nd birthday. He loved it, but had trouble getting the trains back on the tracks. I’d say 2 is a fine age to start, he’ll just need help if tracks fall apart or the trains come off.

Got one for my boys! $40 set for $13! Made my day. I was skeptical there would be any left after the craziness last year but when I called the store they had 7 and said they’d hold one for me. Two hours later when I got there, there was one left on the shelf!

I got the very last one today! There was none on the shelf but I asked the electronics guy and he had 1 left that he was going to put out! My boys are going to be thrilled for Christmas!!! The customer service lady said that these toy of the day deals are hit or miss. Sometimes they have 50 of something and other times it’s whatever they have on the shelf and sometimes that’s only 2. For this one there was only 3 at my store.

My store was out, but customer service offered the next better product at 50% off. There was only one of those and the lady in front of me got it. So they offered me the basic track master at 50% off. I’m still excited!!
How do I use cartwheel if I do not have phone?
Just tried target for this, nothing on shelf. I asked customer service if there were more in the back,no. Can I have a reincheck, no. Can I have a different item with the discount? No. Can u order it for me online and adjust with cartwheel? No. Can u check another store and put on hold? No. Terrible! I called customer service after I left the store and they gave me $20 gift card. 🙂

I got the TrackMaster and the 50% off of cartwheel but forgot to use the 25% off Target Coupon so went back to the store but the manager would not honor the 25% off they said its one or the other since it’s already 50% off… I thank God for you guys because I was able to show them their store policy using Hip2Save and was able to get the 25% off. Total price $13.14!!! (also with other great deals)
Colleen, I have to say thank you, thank you. My grandson is been wanting that particular track master set and I kept telling him no because he had Christmas and his birthday right around the corner. They did not have that particular one in stock but the manager of the target in Prattville Alabama allowed me to have another one at that price and use the 50% coupon and the 25% coupon .
