Great book! I HIGHLY recommend this as a teacher for anyone!

    • Swati

Can i get it for my rising 3rd grader. He LOVES to read and a lexile of a 5th grader. Is it age appropriate?

      • Erin

Yes. My son and I read it in early elementary. Great book.

So happy to hear all the positive feedback for this book, thanks for sharing! 😀

  2. mel

I read this in ebook format and it is wonderful. Got a hardcover for my daughter and I to read together and 3 more copies to give as Christmas presents to my sister’s. (And paid nothing due to the $20 promo from the dash wand) Thanks!

  3. Nichole

    Thanks

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome Nichole!

  4. Nichole

    Is this a kids book?

    • Jill

My daughter’s third grade teacher read it aloud to them.

      • luckymeyay

Your daughter’s third grade teacher is a very smart woman. Working in a school environment, I have witness bullying start as early as second grade. This book should be required reading not only for kids but for parents. Maybe then, they would not be so quick to justify their kid’s bad behavior as just “harmless fooling around”.

    • kayti

It’s about a boy in 6th grade I believe. I read it on my own as an adult. It would be a great book for anyone 4th grade plus. Some things are hard to understand being so young.

    • mel

It’s an “anyone” book (imo)but written easily enough for kids. It’s a great story. I (30) couldn’t put it down.

  5. Hmaymay

  17. Yessi

It’s showing $10 at Walmart site.

    • Dice

      I saw that too.

    • Lori Myers

I’m curious about that too. Was hoping to do free in store pick up and offer to my Literature Bowl kiddos who are reading it for this year’s contest. Any updates?

    • Jessica (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hi! It looks like unfortunately the price has gone up on Walmart to $10. 🙁 Thanks for letting us know, I just updated the post. I am still seeing it available to order on Amazon for the low price, though! 😀

  18. SandyPrice

Our elementary school formed a book club and this the book they studied. The kids would read a few chapters each week and then discuss them as a group. It was very impactful for my 5th grader. Highly recommend this book!

  19. Nicole

I’ve done this as a read aloud in the past 4 classrooms I’ve worked in on maternity leaves. They were 4th and 5th grade classes, but I would say it’s good for kids as young as third grade as well. I still tear up during certain parts of the book even after reading it 5 times! SUCH a great read!

  20. Brandy

Just bought the limit of 4 for my classroom. I will rotate the book this year for literature circle groups with my 5th graders and have all my kids read it with the hope that the movie will come out so we can all go see together!

    Your reviews sold me!!

  21. Dice

Thanks! Got one for my 7.5 yo son summer reading.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You’re welcome! Glad you could snag it!

  22. Lauren

“Wonder” is an amazing book and I highly recommend it! I’m planning to read it with my son this Summer.

  23. riss

Wal-Mart’s price is $10.99 now? Is there a code?

    • Jessica (Hip2Save Sidekick)

No code, unfortunately the price has gone back up on Walmart.com. I still see it available through Amazon for the $3.99 price, though that may not last much longer either. Hope this helps! 😀

      • riss

I got one thru Amazon using my son’s Amazon prime student account. Thanks.

        • Jessica (Hip2Save Sidekick)

YAY! I’m so glad to hear that! You are VERY welcome Riss. 😀

  24. Tiffany

This is such a wonderful book my girls read it over and over again.

  25. Susan

BEST BOOK EVER FOR MIDDLE SCHOOLERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. janet

am I missing something it shows $10 at Wal-Mart?

    • Jessica (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Looks like Walmart has raised the price, though I’m still seeing it available on Amazon for $3.99! 😀

  27. April

This book is amazing! I bought this for my daughter one year for Christmas and this is her favorite book! Her teacher borrowed it and afterwards had to purchase it as well for the classroom. Would recommend this book to anyone!!!

  28. Jess

Got one. Thanks for your recommendation–we need to read more!

  29. Oshea

I found this at the Goidwill for $1 & my middle schooler loved it. He said it was a really good book.

  30. Dice

I just ordered another one for my niece’s 7th birthday! Great deal!

  31. Dawn

Another good one similar to this is called “Out of My Mind” (too lazy to google the author sorry) Has a goldfish and a bowl on the the cover. Amazing. Great for elementary

    • Joy

Agree!!! Out of my mind and wonder were recommended to me by my 4th grader. She was spot on — these are wonderful reads for any age!!!

  32. Kymrie

Read all of the awesome reviews, but it is gone 🙁

    • Jessica (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Bummer! 🙁 Thanks for letting us know, I just updated the post!

  33. Traci

I went ahead and purchased this. My entering 3rd grade asperger’s son won’t be interested yet but he has loved Weslandia- a book about a boy who doesn’t fit in and a much shorter read so I suspect he might be interested before long. 2nd grade wasn’t the nicest of grades for him.

  34. Sara

For people who don’t have amazon prime, I get price match at my local target.

  35. Maria

Shows $9.75 on Amazon for me.

  36. Pa

Did the price go up on amazon? 🙁

  37. Jen

$9.75 on Amazon for me too

  38. Sam

Price went up on Amazon. Sad to miss it

    • Jessica (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Darn, it does look like the price has gone up. So sorry you missed it! 🙁

  39. Chelsea

It’s available again on Walmart.com for $3.99. I just ordered one!

    • Aileen S.

      Thanks! Just got one.

  40. Caroline

Just got it at Walmart.com for $3.99. Such a great book!

  41. Shauna Jo Wenger

It’s not coming up for $3.99

  42. Joanne

As a 3rd grade teacher, I would say it is age appropriate content for that age. However, I think kids might get a little more out of it by reading it closer to the age they bridge to middle school. I think they will notice more of the social relationship nuances that younger kids might miss. I wouldn’t avoid it with younger kids, but definitely encourage a reread before junior high. Fantastic book and a great forum for open dialogue with your kids!

  43. Luv 🌺

Just ordered 3 books on Walmart.com with free pick up (gifts for cousins this summer) at $3.99 a piece. So if interested you may want to check in case the price is back to sale price. I ordered based on the H2Savers review and I’m excited to read it myself, my kiddos are in Pre-k and kinder so probably too early for them. Thanks 🌺

  44. Misako

    This deal is still alive!

  45. Yolie

Still live! Just placed an order.

  46. Holly K

I was just able to order 3 at Walmart for $3.99 each. Free pickup!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awesome! Glad you could snag them! Looks like the price is back up again.
