I’ve really enjoyed my Echo! Make sure you link as many music apps as possible to give you the best shot at getting her to play the songs you request. Also I love, love, love the shopping list feature. So much easier to ask her to add things to my list as I notice them versus stopping what you are doing (often wash and dry your hands) find a piece of paper or open an app on your phone. Just say, “Alexa add vanilla to my list”. She also does conversions, local temp/weather, timers, alarms I could go on and I. My older parents (in their 70‘s) both have one as well and are able to use them. If you’re on the fence just do it!!!

What’s the benefit of this over the Dot?
So glad you asked is because I have the exact same question
The dot is the exact same thing, minus a big speaker. For tasks and question the dot works perfectly well, also since we enjoy listening to music on ours I Bluetooth connected one of our own speakers and it works great! Basically you’re paying the extra for a large speaker built in. Otherwise no difference! Personally I love my dot and wouldn’t by a full echo.
I agree with Krystal. Same thing. Different speaker. But I do have to say the difference in sound is huge! I love my echo much more then my dot.

We love our Echo so much that I pre-ordered 2 of the Echo Shows for Father’s Day (with the $100 discount). Love, love, love it. We play music all the time now since it’s so easy. My son also likes playing the interactive game. Personally, I love being able to get a full weather report easily any time I want without having to get my phone, etc. I am not a techie person but I love the Echo!
