These are extremely low-quality pans. They are not true cast iron. I had two of them and one split in half.

Exactly. And you can find neglected but still useful griswold or Wagner at second hand stores, garage sales etc for not much more.

    • Daisy

Wow! I was just about to buy one. Thanks for your comment. 😕

The thing is, cast iron is expensive and some of these other brands can cost 5-10x the amount of this one. If you’re looking for a pan to get a nice sear or to use over a fire, this brand is just fine. I’ve owned one for the past few years and have had absolutely no issues as long as it gets cared for and seasoned properly.
I’m sorry you had a bad experience, but I wouldn’t let it deter anyone else from taking advantage of a great deal.

Oh no! Sorry to hear it did not hold up 🙁

I have 6 different Lodge cast iron pieces. I use them multiple times everyday and have for years. I have never had this type of issue. I would not hesitate to make this purchase. Lodge is a quality product. I highly recommend. I actually just purchased two pieces for Christmas gifts.

The reviews are really good. Worth $10.

I’ve used lodge cast iron exclusively for 6 years cooking for my large family and I have never had an issue with quality. I did buy a different Wal-Mart brand for my son when he moved out two months ago and that split on his 2nd use- Wondering if it’s Lodge people are comparing or perhaps an off brand? Either way we stand by Lodge and I’m please to see this at a 33% discount!

Americas Test Kitchen tested cast iron skillets and liked the Classic Lodge the best. I have used one for several years with no problems.

I’m so surprised to see any negative reviews on the Lodge cast iron. We don’t have this size, but we have the next size up and the next size down, and we have used them constantly over the last 5+ years. They don’t leave my stovetop and I love them. I make eggs in them almost every morning, grilled cheese, fajitas, etc.

I have these and they are great – especially cast iron pizza!

    Kohl’s has a 12″ Food Network brand for 9.99.

    • Kimberly (Stylish Sidekick)

      Awesome! Thanks, JA!

I’ve owned and use Lodge for many years. I bought mine at the factory store in South Pittsburgh, TN. There is nothing inferior about a Lodge cast iron skillet

  11. Juma

I bought a 12 inch Lodge cast iron skillet at TJ Max about a month ago for $9.99 pre-seasoned. Finished the seasoning and I’m in love with it . Wish I had gotten 2 now so that I can use one just for biscuits cookies and cakes. Check Ross Marshall’s also along with flea markets.
