i ordered one. Donated $5. This will make a nice birthday gift.

    • Britt

it is a computer download. I dont really see how you could give it for a gift… that is what i wanted it for but when i realized it was just a download game i opted out on this deal.

      • Parker

You can burn a copy of the .exe file that is downloaded onto a CD and give it as a physical copy. Perfectly legal and safe.

  2. Laury

I assume this comes as a download attachment in an email. I ordered one and it only sent me to paypal Didn’t ask me for my name or address. I assume they get the email from my paypal account.

  3. Denise

Yeah, they send an attachment, but old woman me can’t figure out what program to open it in. Guess I’ll wait till my 14 year old whiz kid gets home from school! His sister will love him for figuring it out.

    • Parker

You don’t need to open it with a program. Find where you installed the .exe file that you downloaded and just double click on it. It will open itself and start up an installation wizard.

  4. Elizabeth M.

    Awesome!

  5. Lynne

I ordered one and hopefully will be able to figure out how to download! lol… I assume I can use a mouse because we dont’ have a pen.

  6. Samantha

Awesome! My daughter is only 17 months old, but I think my husband will love the game and then she can play it later! =)

  7. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Be careful when ordering this. I thought I was ordering a physical thing I could give as a birthday gift–not a computer game! Also, when I downloaded it there were warnings all over my computer that it came from an unknown publisher and could contain viruses. It seemed a little fishy to me.

    • Parker

You can make a physical copy of the CD by burning the .exe file to disc. And the virus warnings, etc., are probably because of your security settings and who your security is through. (Ex: Windows security is always glitchy). I promise that it is perfectly safe. I have two copies and an extremely secure, safe system.

  8. Megan

I am confused. I looked at the demo and don’t know what I will get. Will I get the whole thing?

    • Parker

Yes, you will get the entire game if you buy it. More than an entire game, actually, since it includes a level editor where you can build your own levels. Demos are always a portion of the game, not the whole thing.

  9. Samantha

Hmmm.. I just got a call from my bank as soon as I made the payment trying to verify that I had made the transaction. The amount was the same as my donation and was from Hobby something or other. Wondering if anyone other than Maggie ( see above) has had anything weird to happen regarding this game? I was going to tell a bunch of people about it, but wouldn’t want to give them the info if it will be a problem — I know it is impossible to know all the ins and outs when posting the deals!

    • Parker

I wouldn’t worry too much about the payment showing up under a different name (as long as it is the right amount). This is a very well respected game and company amongst the gaming industry. And, as I’ve said elsewhere in the comments, it is a perfectly safe game. I have two copies on my system now with no problems and I run very tight security.

  10. Ali Smith

Yeah, I’m feeling a little weird, too…no instructions, no real descriptions as to what we will receive….just asking for your donation amount at PayPal…hm…very confused.

  11. Candice

Not Mac compatible. I ordered and received a link to download, but it went to my junk folder.

  12. Joanne

According to paypal’s security center, you only need to enter your paypal email – not your password. Please do not give that out.

    • Parker

That’s Paypal asking for your password. You have to enter it to make the payment. It’s signing you into your Paypal account. Crayon Physics doesn’t get any of that information. This is the standard process for paying with something via Paypal.

  13. Betsy

Yeah I was a little sketched out by this as well, so I opted out before I hit confirm.

  14. Tina

Yikes… I entered my password… now what? My kids already played the game and like it!

  15. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Tina just go in and change your password.

  16. Laury

I checked this out on google before i did it. The game won a lot of awards. When you go to pay, it goes to paypal and of course you have to put in your password, you are signing into to paypal to pay. This is the same exact screen you get if you buy anything on ebay and anywhere else linked the paypal.

  17. Karen

Okay…I must not “get” this game. The link the company provided is not working and I can’t figure out how to access the game! I have a secret “key” but I can’t find anywhere to put it!

    • Parker

If you click on the download link that is in the email with your secret key, it will take you to a download page. A download link should be on that page. If it isn’t, refresh the page until one appears. Their site is a bit slow because of all of the sale traffic.

The secret key is for when you register the game after you download it. Registering isn’t required but it does give you access to extra levels and stuff.

  18. cjs

So, it doesn’t come with the pen, or can you use the mouse as a ‘pen’? It is a software download only? Has anyone received this & actually got it to work? It looks cool, but it would be nice to know exactly how it works and what is needed for it to work first. Thanks!

    • Parker

You use your mouse as the “pen”. It is a software download only but you can then burn the .exe file to a CD to have a hard copy. I now have two copies of this game on my system and both work perfectly.

  19. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

SInce this is from “Crayola”, a reputable company, don’t you think we would have heard more about this promo? Is it legit? I am concerned. Please be careful!

    • stacyb7120

I don’t see anything that says “Crayola” on it. The company offering the promo is “Crayon Physics.” Never heard of it. FYI: Crayola does a great job making crayons but all of their other products I’ve ever purchased have been absolute junk! The only Crayola products I purchase are crayons and markers.

  20. Katie

I did’t notice that it said Crayola anywhere. It just says “Crayon Physics Deluxe”.

  21. kara

You people crack me up!! You can download the demo and try it out. If you did that you would see that you use your mouse, not a special little pen. Also, there is an “about” section on the website and you can look to see the computer requirements and get other info. Do a little looking around before you start freaking out!! Don’t just jump on the deal because you can pick your own price!!

  22. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I personally would be cautious with this. Just in visiting the site, I’m now getting a ton of pop-ups somehow even though my system is setup to not accept popups. I’m hopeful I didn’t just get some sort of virus just by visiting it. Beware!

    • Parker

I’m not sure what type of security you’re running on your system but pop-up blockers alone usually aren’t enough. Firewalls are great at keeping bad stuff out. Zone Alarm has a really great one available for free.

The CP site is perfectly safe. Pop-ups don’t necessarily mean anything because there’s a chance your system is creating them due to spyware/malware. The site itself might not be generating them. (I’m unsure of this, as I didn’t see any popups, but I have a firewall).

  23. krista

Even thought there is not a physical box to give my son for his birthday, I still went ahead and bought it and I’ll just show it to him when the time comes to give him his gift. I paid through paypal and downloaded it just fine. I was also suspicious at first- I dont need any scams happening on my computer, but after looking into it, it seems perfectly legit. My kids are going to LOVE this!

  24. Amy Hager

Tried the demo this morning. Ordered the product to be used on the computer. Paid through Paypal. The product is now on my computer. My 9 year old LOVES it. I checked my Paypal account, and it is showing my transaction. It is legit!!! Don’t read to much into the comments above. Great game!!! : ) Donwload was easy.

  25. Kimberly

I haven’t had any trouble with popups or spam or anything. The download was easy and the game is AWESOME! Just in case you end up buying the game and playing it for hours like I just did, the point is to get the red ball to meet the yellow star. VERY COOL! Even my husband is going to like this one!

  26. julie

This was awesome!!! We are in love.
    Thanks
    julie

  27. Brenda Lindstrom

My kids and I have played the demo last fall and loved it!!! Was planning on buying it for them for Christmas and just plain forgot. So I was tickled to find this deal this morning. Don’t remember having pop ups after installing it the first time. The site is still busy so I’ll wait to see what else I need to do. The one question I had (which I e-mailed them about) in my e-mail confirmation it said they charged my Pay Pal account, even had a thing on the page where I was putting in my CC info that said “you have money in your Pay Pal account do you want to use it?” Huh? How did it know that? Anyway, I know there isn’t but a couple of dollars in there, not enough to pay for this game so I wanted to use my CC. I’ll let you all know if anything is wrong .

    • Parker

That “you have money in your account” message was from Paypal, not Crayon Physics. Paypal knows because they are Paypal.

  28. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

This is not from crayola. You must put in your paypal password to pay for anything with paypal, they’re not going to give out your money to anyone who knows your email. Your computer bring up the this is not a reputable company message because it’s not a microsoft product and it assumes you are to stupid to tell where what you’re downloading is coming from and whether you trust the website.

  29. Nicole

I have a new addiction. I must confess that I don’t want to stop playing this game…. LOL.

  30. Denise

Wow. I’m glad others have been able to download and play this. It lights up my computer with spyware warnings and one security threat. Our computer has a level of protection set pretty high, so it is probably just too sensitive. Oh well, it looked fun!

    • Parker

As I mention below, I downloaded this game months ago and it is perfectly safe. I have a very high level of security and also run multiple scans daily. It doesn’t come with any “surprises” attached.

  31. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Its fine stop freaking out šŸ˜‰

  32. Michelle

fyi- it is not compatable with a Mac šŸ˜‰

  33. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You get a security threat with ANY software that does not pay Microsoft. Microsoft is payed by companies to program Windows so it recognizes the installs. Most software is not recognized. SO if it is not Microsoft will ask you, this may have a virus or spyware… blah blah …are you sure you want to continue…. I am a computer tech, i fix peoples computers all day long. I test this and it is fine!

  34. grammyg

My computer will not let me download the game. Something about the attachment ending in att. Got any suggestions? Could not get company email or customer support site to work either.

    • Parker

The file should be .exe, not .att. Did you click directly on the link in your email and then click directly on the link at the download page? If you did do that, and the .att file is still being associated, then there might be something wrong in your system registry.

Their customer support is going to be very slow until this sale is over because the site is getting slammed.

  35. Parker

I am a game addict and write about them for a living. I’m going to try and cover most of the concerns raised by other commentors but if I miss anything, feel free to ask me.

First, Crayon Physics is a very well respected indie game that has won awards and gotten significant press coverage. It isn’t a scam or a virus laden device. I’ve had the game for a few months with zero problems. They’re offering this “pay what you want” deal because World of Goo did it earlier this year and earned a lot of money.

The paypal screen given is the standard one whenever you make a purchase with Paypal. You have to enter your password to log into your account. CP does not get that info. If your Paypal account says that you have money in that account to use, it means that, for some reason or another, money has been deposited into your Paypal account (usually from a payment, money transfer, or product return). CP does not know that. That’s Paypal talking to you.

Gameplay: As someone already mentioned, you use your mouse to do the drawing. A laptop touchpad works fine, too. Though it looks like a kid’s game, I would caution that it’s a bit complicated as it goes along. At the very least, younger kids will probably need an adult to help them.

Downloading: After you pay, you will be emailed a download link and a secret key that you may or may not need when registering. When you click the download link, the file you’re downloading will have crayon_release.in the name and it is an .exe file. That’s the file you want to run. (.exe files are usually what you want to run when you download a program because they are executable files). Running that file will lead you to an easy installation process.

    System Requirements:
    Windows XP / Vista
    1 GHZ or faster CPU,
    512 MB or more RAM,
    DirectX 9.0
3D card with 128 MB of texture memory

CP is NOT compatible with Mac or Linux.

Gifting: You can give a physical copy of the game to someone else. You just need to burn the .exe file that you downloaded onto a CD. This will take a few minutes because the .exe file is kind of big. The person you give it to will be able to pop the CD in their computer, open the .exe file, and install. It is legal to install CP onto as many computers as you would like.

Site Security: The CP site is very secure. If you’re getting pop ups, etc., you need to increase your system security via a firewall. Zone Alarm has a great free one. It isn’t the CP site that is dangerous but the internet in general is if you’re not running proper security.

    Hope this helps!

    • Denise

Parker, I have Norton Antivirus and AOL firewall. I was having NONE of these alerts until I tried to download this game. I see plenty of people have done this with no problem, but my computer apparently has a big problem with what it sees. Thanks for all the info, but I will let this be a lesson to me and thankfully, not a hugely expensive one.

    OMG!

    Thank you for this deal.

My high school sophomore son is a science fanatic, physics is his favorite. I was telling him about this and he said he played the demo and loved it. Fun but educational!

  37. Debby

I have downloaded it, but I just get a black screen with music in the background….How can I get the picture to show what I’m drawing…I move my mouse and it sounds like it’s drawing, but I just can’t see anything…Can anyone help! I think my kids would love this…

    Debby

  38. Michelle

I bought the game and recieved email from paypal for receipt but no link or secret key ? Help

  39. Samantha

I’m sure no one is watching this thread anymore, but I installed the program on my computer but can’t figure out how to burn the program to CD for my husband. It just keeps burning the shortcut.
