NEW UPDATE: I am pretty frustrated with 1-800Flowers.com. I purchased 2 boxes of Harry London chocolate yesterday evening and of course, got home and was very disappointed. I went to enter my codes online and as you all know, they no longer work. The whole reason I bought this chocolate was to use the codes, so it’s pretty annoying when they pull promos like this. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I am in the same boat as lots of you… frustrated and annoyed!

Wa-hoooo! If you love chocolate and flowers, then I have the deal for you! …AND it couldn’t have come at a better time with Valentines Day just around the corner!

CVS has red heart shaped boxes of Harry London chocolate on sale for $9.99. Plus, select boxes have white peelie coupons on them valid for a FREE $20 1-800Flowers.com “Fresh Pass”. These $20 passes can be used like gift cards on 1-800Flowers.com purchases and they can also be stacked for even more savings! People are reporting being able to stack 3 $20 passes to score $60 off, so basically getting $60 flower arrangements for practically nothing! Plus, 1-800Flowers is offering up FREE shipping on quite a few arrangements!

Also, it has been reported that Walgreens has the small boxes of Harry London chocolate hearts priced at just $5 with a peelie for a FREE $10 1-800Flowers.com “Fresh Pass”! And I’ve heard that some may even have $20 Fresh Passes!

If you’re interested in getting in on this deal, walk or should I say run on over to Walgreens or CVS and snatch up some chocolate! I would suggest purchasing 2 boxes for a total of $19.98 or $10 + tax (depending upon if you find the peelies on the small or large boxes). Yes, this may seem high, but for that $10 to $20 spent, you’ll not only get 2 boxes of chocolate, but also up to $40 to spend on 1-800Flowers.com! Sounds good to me!

Come back and let us know if you’re able to find these peelies!

(Thanks, SD & Rhonda!)

  1. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Is the peelies on the inside or on the outside of the boxes?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Peelies are on the outside – and I already scored a few. Of course, other people were just taking the peelies. Oh well.

  2. Melissa

The larger chocolate heart that is plush on top is ringing up $4.99 and they have the $20 peelies on the outside of the box. I was able to purchase three for $15 yesterday. I have already placed my order for a cheesecake to be delivered on Friday for my husband (and of course me) and a valentines bear with a box of chocolates to be delivered next Friday for my daughter’s birthday. Total cost, including the chocolate from Walgreens, was $21.

    • Susan

I bought 5 boxes for $5 at Walgreens- the large padded box, like Melissa said and all have the $20 peelies on them. Scored 5 carmel apples and a cheesecake for my family to be delivered on Friday. 1800flowers cost was $9.95 (free shipping and tax!) no out of pocket from Walgreens because I separated the items; paid with rr- bought more Dove for Men and Joint juice used the rr again. I am so excited to see my happy families face for Valentines! We will be sugared up! Thanks you Colin for these wonderful posts!!

  3. Nicole

speaking of Valentine’s Candy. Kroger has a one day sale this Friday if you are in the Midwest and your ad changes on Thursday. Nerds, pixy stix, fund dip & Valentines Card exchange kit $1.98. Use the $1/1 Wonka Gift exchange kit from coupons.com, Makes them $.98 each.

  4. Amanda

I was able to stack 5 of them to get 100 dollars off:) also you can use them on the shipping and the taxes for gain 0 OOP:) Walgreens had our BIG b oxes for just 4.99 with the 20 dollars peelies… YMMV, because some stores they were 9.99:)

  5. Christina

I just went to CVS and someone had peeledall the peelies off the ones there. The manager said they all had peelies on them when she stocked them. . The box the chocolates are sitting on even advertises the $20 off 1-800-Flowers with purchase. It stinks when people have to be selfish and steal the peelies off boxes they aren’t buying.

    • Lorri

same thing happened at both of my CVS stores and my WAGS (the entire display box was full ~~ not one was purchased ~~ and all the peelies were gone)

  6. Nicki

Is there any type of time constraint on this? I’m thinking of buying 5 boxes at $4.99 to get $100 “Fresh Pass”. Then, I could use those to send Mother’s Day Flowers to my mom and mother in law. Or do the “Fresh Passes” have to be used by a certain date like Valentine’s, since they are on Valentine’s chocolates?

    • Susan

Oh, the expiration is 12/31/10 on the peelies, so yes- save them and use them later!! I may have to go buy more. (The boxes that are $9.99 at Walgreens is the same size and not padded- different pic of the chocolates on tag too)

  7. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

That’s awesome!!! I wonder if they’ll have any boxes left over after Vday so we can get them half off too and score big time!

  8. Kristen

And guess where all those stolen peelies probably ended up? eBay. Just look — it’s full of fresh passes.

    • Sarah

Ugh! I just went to three different Wags and ALL of the boxes had no peelies. I am so sad! That’s such a great deal! Isn’t that considered stealing since they didn’t purchase the box of candy? So frusterating!…

      • Tracey

I’ve seen the info about these passes posted on other sites, one was a major deal site. People on are bragging about taking hundreds of dollars worth of peelies off the packages and bragging about all the stuff they are getting for free. It is so gross that people are stealing these, and selling them on eBay too. Greedy and sleazy.

        Just my opinion.

        • Nicki

I know the “Slick” site you reference and the peelie issue. I decided to do some emailing and a little searching and 1800FLOWERS is aware of the scam. Apparently some folks have been going into some of these drug stores and stealing $200-$500 worth of these peelies (these peelies are considered part of the product/offer). If you are stealing high volumes of these, then ordering off of 1800FLOWERS I would be concerned.

          • Jessica

Well now I am concerned! I bought 15 of the boxes (cleared the display completely out!) for my co-workers and family members and planned on ordering a bunch of flowers for my sisters and mother. What will happen if I do? Will I get into trouble?

          • Jade

OMG did you really email them???
Not that I condone stealing, but it’s people like you who **RUIN THE DEAL** for the rest of us.
Do you realize what could happen by putting it upon yourself to be a little rat/snitch/ peelie police?! Soon for those of us who actually BOUGHT the candy (yes I did infact buy all of mine) & want to STACK the legitimate codes 5 at a time (before they expire for other occasions) won’t be able to b/c they will PULL THE DEAL and limit it to one code/order.

This has happened before with other deals so in the future use your brain & think of the rest of us out there who are actually honest & don’t RUIN THE DEAL!

          • Nicki

Receipt verification for high value redemption will be the more likely route. I too purchased several for my family and Valentine, to take advantage of the offer. However, if you take a look at the site I mentioned, some folks took the offer, stole hundreds (sometimes even thousands) of peelies and are now ordering massive amounts of 1800FLOWERS merchandise like houseplants, 4 and 5 of those cheesecakes and so forth. You can’t realistically do that and expect a large company like 1800FLOWERS to believe you purchased hundreds of boxes of Harry London Chocolates.

          • Jennifer

Nicki – You need to stop spreading lies and scaring people.

It would be illegal for 1-800-Flowers to ask for receipt verification. It is not illegal to take the peelie coupons. Take it from a lawyer… If the peelie coupons were a part of the promotion (and you HAD to purchase the chocolates to get the $20 off), they would have a.) have to had said something about “must purchase chocolates to get $20 off” or b.) been inside the package or c.) say “order subject to receipt verification to confirm legitimate promotion purchase.” 1-800-Flowers cannot legally ask for others to correct the mistake that they made by using a faulty advertising campaign on the chocolates. Yes, it is morally wrong to take a bunch of peelie coupons for yourself and leave none for others, but it is not illegal. It has nothing to do with cash value, either. It is all about the fact that 1-800-Flowers screwed up and there’s nothing they can do about it now. I, personally, do not have any of the peelies but I know from other posts on the SD website that they say nothing about any kind of purchase. Please stop spreading lies. It can scare innocent customers into not buying merchandise from 1-800-Flowers due to a fear that they may be prosecuted and accused of stealing.

          • julie

Are you mad cause you missed out, and now are trying to ruin it for everyone else? Why don’t you keep your nose in your own business?

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I know! I think they should look at their surveillance tape and see who all took them and prosecute!!!! It is totally not right.

        • Lorri

If you purchased the candy, I would not worry — you will have a receipt for the purchases. I noticed some discussion about having the receipts on another site.

          • Joe Money

.I just bought 4 boxs with $20 coupon on them. I was planning to use them for Mother’s day. I understand the Nicki’s point but I too worry about what if 1800flowers take down this deal?

  9. Kristen

Oh, and are these at Rite Aid by any chance? Would be great to use a $5 off coupon.

  10. lisa

I just checked the 2 CVS stores and 2 Wags stores closest to my house. All had plenty of boxes and no peelies 🙁

  11. Anonymous

Technically it is not stealing because PEELIES per say have a NO CASH VALUE, so there is nothing they can do about it. Maybe the people on ebay bought their chocolates and wanted to sell the peelies.. dont judge… i know some people may be taking the peelies, and im sure all of us are tempted to do so, but are just bitter that someone got there before us…no matter what people say, people DO take peelies at one point or another

    • Anonymous

I agree. If I were to buy some chocolates and saw an extra peelie lying around, I might want to take it. You know?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

My dear anonymous… I hate to burst your bubble..

Illegal taking and carrying away of personal property belonging to another with the purpose of depriving the owner of its possession. (Ie. CVS, WAGS, Harry London Choc co. or any MF)

The wrongful and fraudulent taking and carrying away by one person of the mere personal goods of another from any place, with a felonious intent to convert them to the taker’s use and make them his property without the consent of the owner.(IE. Your “little $20 peelie)

To constitute larceny several ingredients are necessary. The intent of the party must be felonious; he must intend to appropriate the property of another to his own use. (Ie. Selling on Ebay)

Now I’m sure many will re-think the whole “peelie” having no cash value statement. Peelies are a bonus to entice the buyer. Think its crap just ask the SM how they feel about you helping yourself to unlimited peelies…..

Ask yourself this. Is taking 1 $20 peelie worth being charged with Larceny 6? In most states the punishment is up to $100 in fines &/or 1yr in prision…..Honestly

      • Jennifer

Just so you know, Laura… this is all false. The peelie coupon belongs to 1-800-Flowers, Inc. (not Walgreens) and they did not require a purchase with their peelie coupon redemption. Or else they would have required receipt verification, some sort of code from within the box or even stated “must purchase Harry London chocolates on the peelie itself”. They did not. Thus, it is not stealing. It is immoral, yes. But please do not spread lies and pretend like you know the law.

    • Christina

I disagree. Not everyone takes peelies without buying. I might dig through boxes of chocolates or cereal to find a second box with a peelie, but I will buy both boxes to get the peelies. And at my store they were advertised as “with purchase.”

  12. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I sent my husband and all the big boxes had their peelies stolen. He was able to find little boxes with $10 coupon. He bought me a boquet for Valentine’s day and was able to use 5 codes, and it even worked to take off the tax and shipping (even though some flowers had free shipping he didn’t listen to me). Can’t complain for free though!. Then he sold some of the boxes of chocolate to my dad and brothers at cost….free flowers for me!

  13. Nicole

I agree i see it as first come first served. And if the company wanted the peelies to be gaven to the people who purchase the product, they should have put them inside the box or atleast double wrapped over the peelie, you know. So it is what it is. If i seen one i would take it too. Sorry but i’m just being honest.

  14. Nicole

I want some of this peelie action. Going to Wags and CVS since mine are across the street from each other. Oh, and I am braving my winter snow storm….. ugh! 3 ft. snow drifts in my backyard. Hey, at least the roads are plowed. 🙂

  15. Sarah

Thank you, thank you Colin! I read this post and high tailed it to my Walgreens with my daughter, all the peelies were intact so now I have chocolate for Valentine’s Day gifts and 1-800-flowers points for future occasions. Don’t forget to go through Ebates, I bought my parents’ Xmas gift with the $40 flowers pass for adding reminders to my calendar and actually made $2 on the deal by shopping through Ebates.

  16. Kate

Be careful when ordering from 1800Flowers. Make sure to read all the fine print. They may have changed it but last year I placed an order and 3 months later realized I was being charged $19.99 a month for some subscription crap. Just an FYI 🙂 They were also very rude about refunding my money.

  17. j

What states is everyone finding this in? I’ve gone to 5 stores in so. CA n none even carry harry london

  18. Samantha

My 2 cents for another “discussion”. If you have any moral compass at all, you won’t “swipe” the peelies. Only use them if you are buying the item. That’s what they’re for, no matter how you try to justify stealing them.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You people who are trying to justify thievery should be ashamed of yourselves.

      • Jade

So should you for being “anonymous” lol

    • Adrianna

Well I went to a CVS in MA and I saw the peelie on the outside of the box. When I see a peelie on the outside it is free game! If it was necessary to make a purchase it would be INSIDE THE BOX! Anyways, I asked an associate about it, if I could have the peelie without the box of chocolate. She said as long as I didn’t have to open the box/damage the product I could have the peelie. So I took one off the box to try it and see if it works. Can’t seem to get it to work anyways. Oh well!

  19. Betty

My deal.. I got a new prescription filled at CVS and scored a $25 gift card. I bought three $10 chocolate boxes with peelies. Paid about 5 bucks after using the gift card. I just purchased a tower of cookies from 1800flowers that retailed for about $54.99. I clicked only on items that had free shipping and no service charge. I paid $0.00 and my delivery should be here on Friday. Woot! Woot!

  20. Josie

After reading the Readers’ Comments, I decided to go over to my local Walgreens and check out the peelie situation on the boxed candy. It was tempting to not take a few, but thanks to words of caution( I felt like Jiminy Cricket was sitting on my shoulder), I passed. Yes,.it would be a great deal, but isn’t right to these particular peelies without paying for the product. Also, I just couldn’t make myself buy $10.00 worth (or more!) of candy when it is going to be 75% off fairly soon.

  21. Anon

I’ll wait for them to go on sale and then buy them 🙂 Hopefully there will still be some left!

  22. None

Most of you would take a coupon peelie off of a product without even thinking about it. This isn’t really that much different, just a different amount.
I do think it is rude to take them all, especially to sell them! It seems like it wasn’t very smart on the companies part to just stick that on the outside.

  23. Jen

Geesh, all this over chocolates to make you fat and flowers that will be dead within a week. I hope the thieves are able to live with themselves.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      lol…so true..

    • sarah

I find that a little too rude. This is not supposed to be accusing or rude. We are all trying to save money.

  24. Lisa

I don’t know if it’s the same brand as listed in the post, but my Wags had the peelies on the DeMet (?) Turtles heart shaped boxes.. Yumm!

  25. Anon

OMG! What a riot you guys are about peelies and a box of chocolate! I don’t even want to take advantage of this deal. I know what’s going to happen 1-800 Flowers is going to quit taking the passes – the good must suffer with the greedy people. Argh!

  26. Gail

I purchased 5 of the $4.99 boxes at Walgreens last night. I will put 1 box in my daughter’s Valentine’s basket. The other 4 boxes will be donated to church for the Valentine’s banquet. I purchased $109 worth of items from 1800flowers and was able to use all 5 $20 coupons for a savings of $100. There was FREE shipping on everything I purchased. SO I paid $9 extra for all of my items. I was so proud of my deals. Thanks for letting us in on this deal!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Way to Go Gail!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

HOW DID YOU DO THAT.. TYHEY WONT ALLOW MORE THAN 1 SAVING PASS ONALL YOUR PURCHASES……NOW THEY WONT EVEN ALLOW IT ANYMORE.

  27. alyssa

What are the restrictions on these? I tried to buy some stuff on sale but it wouldn’t let me use the gift code. Then I tried to buy regular price cheesecake and it still wouldn’t let me do it. What are you guys redeeming the codes on?

  28. Julie

Mine aren’t working! It says :”One or more specified gift certificates are not redeemable”. Help!!

  29. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

“One or more specified gift certificates are not redeemable” & I was trying to buy a Juniors Ny original Cheesecake!!! So i called Customer Service & she said go back a few pages & try it again & if it doesn’t work call customer service back. & I asked if I could use one or more & she said if I couldn’t do it on the checkout page call back & someone in customer service will do it for me!

  30. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Bought the chocolate, got the peelies and now it’s not working. Tried calling the helpline and no one there know’s how to help.

  31. shonte

    Mine aren’t working either!!!

  32. kelly

I just got off the phone with the department at 1-800flowers.com that handles the “Fresh Pass.” After waiting 25mn I was told that there have been problems and they are only accepting one per household, per person. Also, you can only use it by calling them and placing the order through their department. I am sure the problem is too much stealing, thanks whomever you are

  33. Amy

Just got back from Walgreens and I only found one box with the peelie. i purchases that box (small for $4.99).

  34. Deann

I’m on the phone with 1-800-flowers now because these savings passes are no longer working online… apparently there’s a memo going around up there and they’ve put a kabosh on these… they will accept one over the phone only towards items that are not offered with free shipping… I was told it was because “many of these were stolen” and “many of these peoples orders have been cancelled”…. when I asked what happens to the consumers who bought the products legitimately, and have receipts to prove it, or what about the fact that the savings pass says nothing about excluding “free shipping” items.. I was advised to call corporate. Their number is: (516) 237-6000. Good luck to all!!!

  35. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yep exactly what happens when the PEELIE THIEVES strike and BRAG about it! No longer are able to purchase online you must call…. Thanks for ruining it for the People like me who ACTUALLY paid for the Chocolates!!!

  36. Sarah

Just kind of wondering how 1800 flowers can legitemently put all these “extra” guidelines on after the fact. It doesn’t seem right since the peelie itself doesn’t state any of the guidelines that they are now adding. I completely understand that some people have abused the system– but for those of us now that have purchased multiple boxes of chocolates isn’t it somewhat of a false advertisement thing happening…I am by no means a legal expert but it seems that we do have some other people here that might be…so any thoughts?

  37. Anon

SO glad I didn’t get in on this offer now! Good luck to everyone that did, hopefully you can figure something out!

  38. Becky

I was able to use two $10 ones, but only when I called. I only bought one box, but someone who bought another box, and I assume didn’t want the peelie, stuck it to the display. I checked to make sure none of the 4.99 boxes were missing theirs, so it became mine! Also some one took all of the $20 ones off the big boxes. Boo to that!

  39. Shosh

Im not going to judge whether or not people shuold take peelies without buying products – but – its for SURE wrong to take them at the volume that people have been taking these. They ruin it for everyone – now 1-800 flowers is canceling all the orders from this week! I personally didnt take any peelies so its not like im personally upset, but i do think that over-zealous couponers ruin it for the rest of us sometimes when they go a little too far. In my opinion, taking hundreds of dollars worth of these was going too far.

  40. amy

I didnt buy any of these but I have been calling Fresh Rewards for weeks now because I used my Fresh Rewards codes in December for Cheryl and Co and my order was never sent but yet I cant use the codes again that I used for thata order, even though my order never went through. Fresh Rewards has The WORST customer service!! They kept telling me they would talk to their manager and call me back but they never did. I then asked for the manager and she said she would call me the next day and she Promised but never did. So I gave up on them. I am so mad that I lost 40 fresh rewards for nothing. I hate to even give this company any more of my business, even when there are deals out there that are hard to refuse.

  41. Crystal S.

BTW: These can be used on their sister sites (look at the bottom of the home page). I just used mine on the Harry London site and had no problems.

  42. Monica

I agree, being frugal and saving money is one thing. Being greedy and taking advantage of companies is another. It’s a shame that individuals don’t realize/understand/care about the difference.

To another readers point, taking peelie’s can be tempting but so can other activities. It doesn’t make it ok to participate.

On a more positive note, at first I was bummed with the comments that 1-800-flowers is not redeeming these because I had already bought some chocolate but then I realized the offers don’t expire until 12/31/10 and they might work if we wait a couple of months. For me, I was saving the fresh pass for mother’s day so I am going to hope it can be redeemed and by then, these issues may have calmed down. Maybe?

  43. Anon

Wow….their customer service is RIDICULOUS! I had one rep tell me that I couldn’t use the codes from the chocolates that I bought because the flowers I picked were eligible for free shipping and that was the only offer that I could use!?! Oy…this is one is just too much hassle. I’ll return the chocolates with the codes and be done with it!

  44. Angie

Unfortunately I chose not to make my order till today 🙁 but I went through the stress of calling 1800 flowers and made my orders. It was a little stressful talking to someone in a call center but luckily she was very friendly and listened to my concerns. Sad thing is that I was only able to use 1 pass per order but luckily I had 2 $20 passes. What got worse is that they only wanted to give me the free shipping on the first order. I told the lady there was no way I would pay for shipping considering it clearly states on the website that it was a free order. She fixed the problem for me 🙂 Now I get to hold on to these passes and hope I can use them on another site 🙂

  45. Nicole

My $10 pass wasn’t working so I opened up a chat with an online rep. this is what she said……

“Tiffany: We have an issue of substantial abuse and theft of $10 and $20 dollars off Savings Passes affixed as peel-off coupons to Harry London/Fannie May Chocolates that were distributed to several mass market retailers. Due to the extent of the abuse, the ability for customers to immediately redeem these coupons is being suspended and a process for legitimate redemptions is being put in place.”
    (and)
“Tiffany: Your welcome, you can check back with us tomorrow and we hope to have that legitmate process available for you.”

Just a heads up for anyone that is having trouble.

  46. Jade

    ***DEAL IS DEAD***
We all have Nicki to thank for that.

Great now what to do with all the chocolates I bought with coupons that don’t work?!?! I might as well go return all of these. My time & gas I won’t be getting back either. WTF!

Does anyone know if the previously placed orders will be canceled as well?? The status says “order placed” & is assigned tracking numbers. However it says “No information for the following shipments/FedEx Office orders has been received by our system yet. Please try again later or contact Customer”

Does this mean the tracking numbers are invalid? Does anyone know if our VDAY orders are all canceled?

    • Sarah

I have been tracking all day the orders that I placed yesterday. I have two that late today went from no tracking information to showing that they were shipped. So I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you that they ship yours as well….

      • Jade

What’s your ship date Sarah? Mine are for the 13th & 14th =(

        • Sarah

The ship date on mine were all the 12th..

      • Adorned

I purchased five boxes all with the $20 peelies and placed an order with 1800flowers on the 9th- they arrived today!! They did end up charging me tax even though it was free shipping and tax advertised, but I am not complaining about it!

    • Lorri

I read that the stores are not taking back the chocolates ~~ even if you have the receipt.

  47. Jessica

How are they going to verify it?
What about us who didn’t save the receipts?
I used register rewards and have no idea where my receipt is (thank my 2 year old for fishing around in my bag for that!!) Am I stuck with $85 worth of crappy chocolate now?

    They should honor their codes!

  48. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

part of my conversation with 1800flowers.com chat, I am glad I have my receipt.

Hello! How can I help you with your order today?

You: I got some savings passes tonight when I bought some chocolate candy and it will not except them?

Lisa: I am so sorry about that.

Lisa: We have an issue of substantial abuse and theft of $10 and $20 dollars off Savings Passes affixed as peel-off coupons to Harry London/Fannie May Chocolates that were distributed to several mass market retailers. Due to the extent of the abuse, the ability for customers to immediately redeem these coupons is being suspended and a process for legitimate redemptions is being put in place. Additionally, all orders in which multiple Savings Passes were used to pay the full purchase price of the order have, and will, be cancelled.

  49. Lorrie

Now I understand why I couldn’t use the codes and they told me to call in the morning. I bought 4 boxes thinking I could combine the $10 each to buy flowers for my mother in law for her birthday next week. I will still use the candy for my family and such but am bummed that some people abused the deal. I found them on sale at Albertsons for $3.99 and bought one since I had already bought 3 for $4.99 at Walgreens. All the ones I saw still had the peelies but then again I live in a small town and maybe not many people know of this deal.

  50. Samantha

Gosh, I’m glad I had “bad” couponing day and didn’t end up getting these. I don’t feel lucky so I’ll skip it unless they run good sales next week. =)
