I was just at walgreens today, and the sure deoderant was on clearance for $.70 and I had 4 $1.50/1 coupons so I got 4, and 1 coupon covered the price of 2 of them, and then I was going to use the second coupon for the the next 2, which would make it free for all 4, and then $.20 overage, and then the next 2 coupons would have been just overage…as I purchased 4 so it would have been $3.20 overage….but after the first coupon, the rest beeped and I don’t know why. It was a young cashier, who said I did purchase 4, so the coupons were all good, and she didn’t know why they were beeping either, but she pushed em through anyhow. Any ideas?
Walgreens policy is to NOT give overage. The only way around this is is you’re somehow obtaining overage using a Store Coupon. For some reason, if you use the Man Q first, and then use a Store Q, you can get overage, but if you’re just using Man Q’s, then the register will beep. Technically the cashiers can either reduce the coupon amount, or manually change the price of the items you’re buying to match the coupon value to make the items FREE, but you’re not going to be able to use any overage. Plus, most people don’t have very good success at Wags with the cashiers adjusting either. HTH!
I have 4 Walgreens near me and none of them will give overage or adjust on mfr coupons. So I just ignore these posts in general as I know they won’t work for me. What I do though is jump all over the ones where a combination of a wags coupon and an mfr coupon gives overage – those DO work all the time and since none of my Walgreens have a problem with those I’m happy!

The only way it would have worked to cover your whole purchase would have been to have 4 of them come out to exactly the amount of any combination of your coupons. for example if the second coupon amount did not equal $.20 in overage, you would have gotten all four free with 2 coupons. It will only not beep with MQ if you have enough purchase price of the item you have the coupon for to absorb the overage form a coupon. There is no overage given to other non related items with MQs. Only like the others have said with a combination of wags qs and mqs. In this case what you could have done to save yourself the extra coupons is have added a fifth deodorant on and then after two coupons were scanned you could have them remove one deod. and you would get $.20 overage. It owuld not beep that way because there would have been enough total of the item that the coupon is for to cover the coupons value.
Last time i went to target they had lip smakers on clearence also, they where on the end caps. They had lots of makeup on clearence at my target. But ladies don’t ever buy mascara on clearence, i bought two mascaras & they where dry & old. So never buy old stock on makeup, you must be careful what you buy, exspecially nail polish. Just a heads up. Buy with caution. They also had head & shoulders for $2.37 on clearence and after my $1 off coupon it was only $1.37 for a full size bottle. I was excited about the deal cuz i only use head & shoulders, and it usually runs almost $5 dollars. But always check the end caps, you’ll be amazed what you can find when you pair it with one of your coupons. Most of the time i just happen to stumble upon these deals. So always take a glance! And when your clipping coupons, i would adivse you to clip shampoo/conditioner/hair care/ect. Sometimes i don’t clip some of them if most of them & then i go to the store & its on clearence & then i kick myself for not clipping it. Then i have to make an extra trip another day. So clip away ppl. 😉
I dont think you should get overage. The cashier needs to mark the coupon down. Seems like stealing if you get overage.
Its actually not stealing at all- the store gets reimbursed the full amount of the coupon plus 8 cents! So they are actually making more money off of coupons by not accepting overage. Seems like stealing on their part…JMHO
They are not stealing either… when they do not allow overage and reduce the amount of the coupon they also write on the coupon the amount the redeemed it for on the face of the coupon and submit it for that value. If they give you overage the one who is taking it in the shorts is the manufacturer.
I have never had one cashier write this on a coupon – I often think its not fair that they adj down for customer but yet they get paid full price for the coupon.
Maybe because it was so much overage? I wonder if it would of beeped if you had other products to apply the overage too and take away the negative total?
I did. I had a bunch of stuff, and even after the overage, I still paid $6.37.
Nope it has to be more of the product that the coupon is for .(in this case the deodorant) no overage on MQ’s unless it is absorbed by more of the same product.
The coupon is for “any new 2010 Lip Smacker Product”. May still be a good deal, but the lower priced items may not work….good luck to all 🙂
eah i dont think this coupon will work on the clearence items, since its old products. But the coupon can still be used to score a great deal. And it doesn’t expire until 12/31/2010
Yay! more lip gloss! Last time I actually found Lip Smackers on clearance at Walgreens for 50cents. They were in a little tube/container w/3 each inside. I was able to find 2 and used them as fillers, hehe.
Coupon does NOT work – read this post, went over to Walgreens. Wasted trip – coupon is only good on the NEW 2010 Lip Smackers, not old versions on clearance. Just want to save others from wasting gas like I did! 🙂
since this doesnt expire till the end of the year this would be a great coupon to save until Christmas after sales when they are marked down.
Our Walgreens didn’t have the lipsmackers … said they would receive a shipment of them next month (Fort Worth, TX). But while I was in Target, I checked on their lipsmackers. They were priced at $1.49 each … didn’t say “2010” … but I went ahead and got two of them and the coupons worked for them. So they were .50 each … still not too bad.
Was at Target today, and found a great deal on lint rollers. It was not the 3M brand, but some off brand. They were marked down to $1.24, and they had a $1.00 peelie on them. They also had refill packages with 3 rolls in them, also $1.24 and $1.00 peelie. The refill packages were also available in the ones for pet hair which I presume are a little stickier and would work better. Just a little Target FYI post!
Got back from Target and scored a few good deals like the soap buddies for .97 ea. got 3 for 2.91 and had 3-$1.00 Q’s so were free w/.09 overage. Got the Tide travel at .97 used the $1 Q so free. The Degree for men were in a 2 pack at 3.59 used my $3/2 Q so only .59 for the 2. Same on the womens Degree so I got 4- 2pks (8 sticks total) and only pd $2.36! Kashi Q/BTGO and used 2/$1.50 Q’s on that so total for Kashi was 9.57 and after Q’s pd $3.38 for the 3 boxes! My Target didn’t have the Hungry Hippo marked down to what Collin posted but was on clearance and w/the $4 Q pd $10 so that wasn’t a real steal but my grandaughter will love it when she gets older. Had no problems w/Q’s today sooo happy! Thank u Collin!!!!
I just came home from Walgreens, I found the lip smackers on sale for $1.09 and used my coupon so I only paid .09 cents. My daughter came home in a good mood. I also got 6 john frieda shampoos/conditioners, 2 renpure shampoos, 2 Physicians formula make-up and only paid $9.00 would have been $56.99 w/o tax plus I still have the rebate for the renpure shampoo for $6.99 so it was almost a moneymaker. I love this site, it has helped me save a lot more then I expected.

I went looking for Lip Smacker’s at my Walgreen’s in Dayton, Ohio and the lady said they stopped selling all Bonne Bell products about a month ago. I’ll have to try Target.
