Alright, so today’s “Follow Me Monday” video is going to be a bit different than usual. Remember when I posted about the *HOT* All you magazine deal and about how I was going to team up with Jenny over at Southern Savers to donate the proceeds to a Food Bank? Well, that’s exactly what we did and the best part, you all get to come along with us! You see, we earned a total of $3 per magazine ordered and decided to donate the money to the Harvest Hope Food Bank located in South Carolina! …AND guess how much we donated thanks to all of you? $8,000…. yes, you heard that right— $8,000! Yay!

…So come along and get inspired! 🙂

Oh and Collin, I thought you’d like this:
Every week, I play the follow me Monday videos, not for educational puposes (anymore) purely for the enjoyment and also watching my girls race to the computer when they hear your voice. We get such a kick out of watching you be so creative and amusing all in one when you’re taping. Much more fun to watch than tv even. Anyways, my eight year old mimics you and tries to reinact things she seen and heard. She loved when your sister and you went grocery shopping and you were in the cart. They are hooked on the Monday mini series on your site more than Disney channel and its just fun to see their excitement. 🙂

    Collin–
I loved the video! I always enjoy your “Follow Me Monday” posts! Thanks for the challenge to give. I have always given sporadically from my abundance, but have just gotten intentional about doing it on a weekly basis. I call it my “pantry tithe”. If you’re interested, you can read about it here; https://frugalfanatic.wordpress.com/2010/03/01/ive-decided-to-be-a-pantry-tither/ Thanks again for the inspiration!

This video was inspiring. I have two young daughters and we are working on getting a “toy package” together to take to a children’s home. It will include a lot of the games that we’ve been getting for almost nothing and definitely the Johnson’s Buddy Bar!! My girls are loving it!

I am truly inspired, I am so glad you showed us how to donate! I am loving the “fill the bad and donate” idea… we will play with my kids and at the end will donate everything to our local food bank! Thanks for the inspirational follow me Monday video!

  5. Johnisha

Loved the video and it did inspire me. I am looking up local food banks as we speak!

    Collin,

Thank you so much for showing us this one!!! My company was visited today by a member of our local Oregon Food Bank, looking for volunteers and/or donations. I couldn’t wait to get home to sign up! I’m serving my first day in two weeks! This was so inspiring, I am going to recommend all of my friends watch this, and see what all of us can do to help!

That is awesome! Thanks also to the people at Campus Fundraiser for giving us this deal, and to their hard workers that were answering all of our e-mails at all hours of the day and night. Without them, this would not have been possible. They deserve a shout out!!

You make getting through Mondays so much nicer.

What a great idea! I donate much of the free food and toiletries I get. But I LOVE that you took your commissions and donated them! Thank you for doing that.

    Collin and Jenny,

You two are truly amazing! Words cannot discribe how proud I am of the two of you. To donate a your commission check of that size to an organization that is in such dire need is unbelievable.

You hear about food banks needing food but who would have ever guessed how much food they actually need. I am in complete shock. Your video was eye opening and inspirational to say the least.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Very eye-opening and inspiring. Thanks for this video. Our food bank has a can set up at Kroger’s and I give frequently. I used to think that just one can won’t matter, but think differently now.

Thanks so much for doing this! I hope I don’t get slammed for saying this but I don’t usually watch the videos. I’m very good at this whole being thrifty thing- but this was truly wonderful. I have been skipping a lot of free deals because I don’t need the stuff. I’ll start making it a goal to donate a few boxes of food each week. Wonderful job!

This was an inspiring video. Now I am thinking of how I can help the students and families at my school. Thank you!

You should be so proud of all that you do! My “pet” charity is the Salvation Army and I get such a buzz out of giving to them on a regular basis. My boyfriend recently gave me $100 and asked if I could do a food shop on the Army’s behalf – I easily got $300 worth of product by using coupons and deal matching. Thanks for such an inspiring video!

Skot talked about people that reviewed expired products to see if they were still good, is there a type of resource that could give us this information. I think it would be helpful to know what we need to throw out when it expires and what we can stretch, especially when we stock up. I have heard that pancake type products shouldn’t be used when they expire, but I have used cereal past their expiration date and other things. Any info would be helpful!!

when I was a girl, my mom didn’t have anything for us. The Salvation Army and other food banks were our source of food, and usually were the only Christmas presents we received. As an adult, I have so much more, and am able to do so much more for my children, and I always remember the Salvation Army. My children each pick out a child during the holidays and we do thier christmas gifts….but this video made me realize we could be doing so much more. Recently I got about 80 boxes of the free cereal at albertsons and about half of it will be going to the food bank! I’m going to start my donation box too…thank you

  23. karmen

This is such an awesome video. I have been compiling items to donate for awhile now but have been wondering if its possible to deduct these itmes on my taxes. Many of the items I did get for close to free but many of them I did pay for. How do you go about doing this? Great work! Keep it up!

  24. Rosy

I loved your video.. Thanks for giving us the behind the scenes…
