can anyone share a upc code?

    • Julie

I want deals, but I also want to β€œlove my neighbor as myself”, so when there are these deals that I know cost the company a lot of money, I can’t help but think of the company and their desire to make it in today’s economy. There are moms and dads who work there and want to make a living too. So many companies are going out of business, cheapening their products, raising prices, laying off workers, sending work to China, etc. etc. Maybe because my husband owns his own small business, I think of these β€œscores” from the company’s point of view. I would hate to take advantage of their kindness, and I don’t understand how they can do well when I am greedy. My two cents πŸ™‚

      • Pam

Great reply, Julie! It is so good to see people who do it the “honest, right way”. No freebie is worth it if it hurts others.

      • Jane

totally agree. People never cease to amaze me.

  2. Vickie

hummm, thanks, but I am pretty sure you also need the code on top of the can as well…if I read this right…two codes…back bar and top…hth

  13. Jacqueline

Hi, thank you for your help, The UPC codes worked for me too.

  14. MA

After you sign in to the Red Gold acct, how do you get to the point where it asks you for the numbers? I have tried everything I can find. Thanks so much.

  15. Nicole Dz.

I have three of these bags already, from previous offers & i won one through a giveaway. Now another one to add to my collection. I love these bags, their awesome to carry my coupon binder in & for a quick shopping trip at cvs and/or walgreens πŸ˜‰

  16. Linda

Karen- you rock! Thanks a million! I get my canned tomatoes at a discount grocery store, so I don’t have any Red Gold Tomatoes in my cupboards.

    • Linda

Will go out to my local grocery store and buy some Red Gold Tomatoes in the next couple of days to atone for my getting the bag without buying them. I totally respect what many of you are saying here.

  17. Pam

Collin posted, “Red Gold Tomatoes is offering up a FREE reusable tote just for purchasing one of their products!”

Some (many) of you seemed to have missed the word “purchasing”……. And, many of you will respond with your excuses……. Since this happens a lot here and it IS Collin’s site, would love to know her take on this type of thing. Seems a lot like the “emptying of the shelves” situation we hear so much of on here. How far will you go to get something for free????

    • Anon

Thank you Karen for the UPC!

And all I can say for Pam is it sounds like you woke up on the wrong side of the bed! Sheesh.

      • Pam

You must be somewhat embarrassed by your behavior since you won’t sign your name.

      • mamabear

Wow, I didn’t know that following directions meant that you woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Hmmm…

        1. Register for the Red Gold online e-newsletter, Tomato Country.
        2. Purchase at least one can of Red Gold Brand tomatoes.
        3. After registering, enter the 12 digit UPC barcode on the back of the label and the 14 digit product code found on the top or bottom of your can.

If the post said, Google upc codes and enter them that would be different… If sneaky little bits like this doesn’t bother you, where do you draw the line? You have to somewhere… And you may think, so what- its just a reuseable bag for petes sake! Well, reusable bag or a big screen tv, doesnt matter… the point is it is not right to get things the wrong way…

    • Jessica

I agree. The point is for people to buy the product. Sort of like a few weeks ago when people entered in random numbers for the Sam’s thing. But the company they cared THAT much I suppose they could make it a mail in offer (with a label).

  18. Kathy

I agree with you Pam. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE freebies but, if a company asks me to purchase a product to get something they are offering and I am interested in what they are offering then I do so. I think that it is only fair to the company.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Could not agree more. I purchased my tomatoes, and it went through just fine.

      • Jane

i couldn’t agree more. eventually there will be no more freebies like this if it get abused. i purchased 20 cans last month so i used that.

    • Samantha

I agree that we need to purchase the products! It only makes common sense! Companies shouldn’t be forced to jump through hoops to avoid couponers sharing info that they shouldn’t be sharing.

That being said — anyone know the cheapest Red Gold item that will qualify for the free bag? I don’t have any but would be willing to get something cheap for another free bag to use at Kroger, Target, etc. LOL

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

        Crushed tomatoes works 28oz can.

    • Pam

Thanks guys, it’s good to see that others have some ethics about this too. I think one of these days we’re going to see some changes to couponing and freebies due to the abuse.
Then it will be too late to change. It’s just sad to see people brag about what they’re doing.

It’s also interesting how everyone loves Collin and Collin’s site, but actually, they’re showing her disrespect by the way many of them abuse the offers she works so hard to bring them.

    • Andrea

I most definitely agree that you should follow the rules of the game and PURCHASE the product as instructed. Honestly, how hard is it to go buy a can of tomatoes for maybe $1 to get the bag the correct way. Give me a break! And if you can’t afford $1 for a can of tomatoes and a free tote, then how do you pay for internet service? I can only imagine the scams you pull on stores with your coupons.

My husband works for RED GOLD. THANK YOU TO EVERY ONE OF YOU THAT GOT THIS “FREEBIE” THE CORRECT WAY! You are helping to support numerous jobs by purchasing the product.

I do think there should be a different way of offering the free bag to people—maybe to the employees of the company…I will be writing RED GOLD about the misuse and abuse of the “freebie.” None of you have any idea what the owner of the company does for it’s employees. It is a local (Indiana) business, not a worldwide corporation that can afford to be ripped off.

I am not ashamed to type my name…and write whatever you CHEATS want about or to me. I really don’t care because I won’t look back on this post and I know you are wrong.

      • Joy

Finally, voices of reason. πŸ™‚ I’m glad I’m not in the minority here. I have had issues with stuff like this for weeks now since the fiasco with everyone sharing Disney Movie Rewards codes last month. People need to earn their freebies legitimately! I’m tired of people wanting things handed to them for nothing. Put some effort into it. Sure, I know it’s disappointing when we all can’t get the freebies Collin works hard to post … but c’mon people at some point you have to put your morals in check.

And thanks to Andrea for her personal perspective on this one. We should be supporting local and American companies, not scamming them for freebies. Companies provide freebies like these to thank LOYAL customers for BUYING their products. We do not have Red Gold tomatoes here in NY state (that I know of). But I URGE everyone to buy some cans if available in your area and support our country’s economy. Just don’t buy them though to get a free bag. πŸ™‚ Buy the tomatoes because you truly like the product.

        • Nichole

Thank you Joy! My husband works hard for his money at RED GOLD, as do hundreds of other employees. The company has 3 branches all located in Indiana. This is an American company treating it’s employees fairly—-an unheard of concept today. My husband (along with all of the other employees) works 7 days a week, 8-10 hours a day from the middle of August through the end of October (while tomatoes are in season). That’s right—no days off! I sure appreciate what Red Gold does for my family. I walked over to my pantry and pulled out a can to get the free bag. I was then disgusted to read how many people can’t come off of a buck (if that) for a can of tomatoes and a bag.

          What a shame!

Thanks again Joy for agreeing (and not being afraid to post it).

          • Nichole

just noticed my daughter changed my name on here….;-0

          • Julie

Thank you Joy and Nichole. It should really make us sit up and consider when we have “faces” to picture from your personal experience. You have families to support too. That’s why I wrote what I did above (1.1) , which has been on my mind for all these months as I coupon. “Loving our neighbor as ourselves”…”doing to others what we would have them do to us”…applied even to people we don’t know. Thanks for speaking up!!

          • Jane

I totally agree. A big thank you to your husband. I love our Red Gold diced tomatoes. I think I have 20+ cans downstairs. Very sad how people are so willing to take something that was meant as a “gift” for purchasing a product. Shame on all the people taking advantage of this.

        • Pam

Thanks Joy, you said some great things and you’re NOT in the minority, it’s just people tend to be afraid to speak out due to being put down by the louder voice. We must not be afraid to speak out for the RIGHT thing, which is honesty in couponing and freebies. In the end, if people continue to cheat companies, we will all pay the price, meaning less coupons and less freebies. People certainly can’t be that hard up, those bags run 99 cents to a $1 in most stores. If you cannot get one free in an honest way, then BUY one!

      • Pam

Andrea, I hope you do come back and check here….we need to stand up for what is right and honest and not be afraid that some of the women here are going to write “nasties” to us. You have put a very human and personal touch to all this couponing and freebie stuff. People, people with families to support, work for these companies and when other people take advantage of the companies, there is going to come a day when the freebies will become less and less. No company can afford to give and give when they are not being supported by the consumer buying their products.

I don’t want to go down the line here and thank everyone, but it really renews my faith in all this to see so MANY of you stand up for what is right. I’d love to know when, over the years, that cheating became admirable.

        Thanks, ladies!!

        • Pam

Andrea or Nichole, I see you had a name change πŸ™‚

        • Andrea (The Real One)

I definitely am coming back, I will not let the cheaters ruin my savings ability. And I always stand up for what I believe to be right, no matter the majority.

      • Pam

Andrea, I do hope you will follow through and write the company. They probably know that this goes on, but I’m sure hearing from someone about the problem helps.

        • Marie

They probably don’t care too much. It doesn’t cost that much to make the bags and I am sure that they know what is going on. Plus when you use that bag then you are advertising for them.

          • Pam

Marie, please don’t make excuses for wrong-doing/cheating. Surely our values haven’t dipped that low.

        • Andrea (The Real One)

I already did contact them. I do know people higher up that could get something done.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Shouldn’t the cans have individual numbers….so they will know if they are legit. I buy these so I had them in the cabinet.

  19. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks Collin! I had 9 cans in my pantry.

  20. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Speaking of totes, anyone get one from BRU? I had two coupons and took them in for myself and my SIL who was with me. I bought a pair of flip flops so they took 25 percent off. She didn’t buy any clothes so it wouldn’t”accept” the coupon. I said that made sense since there was noting there to take 25% off of. I said could she still keep the bag since we had the coupon for a free bag and she said yeah you can keep the bag. I get out of the store and check my receipt a few hours later and….she charged us a DOLLAR for the bag AND kepy my coupon. I am steaming!!!

    • Adrienne

I got my free bag at BRU, but I did buy clothing. I think you only get the bag for free if you actually buy some clothing or shoes.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

        What is BRU?

        • Melinda

          Babies R Us

  21. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I got this bag a while back as a freebie. I love it! It is a nice thick sturdy one. You can definitely put heavy items in this bag.

  22. Miranda

    Thank You!!

  23. Deb

Hurray! Worked for me too πŸ™‚

  24. Melissa

I think the point that some of ya’ll are missing that are using the product codes…is that they are unique. So if they get hundreds of requests with the same codes, they can pull the offer (and maybe not offer it again) and maybe not even send you the tote. I’m all for getting freebies, but I don’t purchase Red Gold (and even though I can use another reusable bag) so I’m passing on this offer. JMHO

    • Pam

Thanks, Melissa for expressing it. You’re probably very right, these people may have signed up for the bag, but will it arrive??? We’ve seen this happen before where the product doesn’t show up.

      • Sarah

They will have the same code if they are the same product.

        • Pam

Sarah, not sure what you mean by this, but if you’re saying the company won’t know, does that make it right????

          • Sarah

No I was just saying that they have the same code. don’t jump to conclusions.

      • Andrea

I really hope the company catches the reused codes and cancels orders for those who used the same codes. The codes it wants from the top or bottom of the cans is the batch code. It will most likely be different for each can you buy.

    • Nichole

I wanted to add this taken from the RED GOLD website under TERMS & CONDITIONS:

We may terminate your use of the site at any time, in our sole discretion. Upon any such termination, your right to use the Site will immediately cease. You agree that any termination of your access to or use the Site may be affected without prior notice, and that we may immediately deactivate or delete your password and all related information and files associated with it, and/or bar any further access to such information or files. You agree that we shall not be liable to you or any third party for any termination of your access.

Those of you who reused codes may have your access to the RED GOLD website terminated, if the company chooses to do anything about this. I wouldn’t risk not being able to access the website and no longer being able to get their coupons all for a free tote bag.

  25. Shahina

Thanks for the codes Karen! I just requested mine too!!

  26. K

I was thinking the same thing.. once they see how many people used the same product codes, they’ll know it was shared and they’ll probably cancel your order. I don’t use Red GoldTomatoes so I’ll pass.

  27. kathleen

Can someone tell me which stores in NC offer this product? I was at Harris Teeter this morning and they don’t sell this brand. I figure if I am out a buck for a new reusable bag, it’s basically the same as me buying another bag and getting tomatoes free.

    • Katie

I used the codes from my Tuttorosso crushed tomatoes which they sell at Harris Teeter.

      • Andrea (The Real One)

That brand is made by RED GOLD.

        • Katie

          Yeah I know.

  28. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Did anyone notice that it said valid April 19….so the ones of you that already did it does it say you will get the bag?

    • Lorri E.

mine said the bag should arrive in 4 – 6 weeks

  29. Alisia A.

Mine said it should arrive in 8-12 wks, hope it comes πŸ™‚

  30. Katherine

I got this bag a while ago and I really love it! I was surprised at the quality of the bag — they did not go cheap and it made me want to start purchasing their products. Very good find. πŸ™‚

  31. Kelly T

Going to the store today to pick a can up! Hopefully the offer will still be open for those who want to obtain it legitimately.

  32. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

It said mine was coming in 8-12 weeks and I use and had this product in my cabinet.

  33. Pam

The posts here have been so interesting and put a real human touch to the couponing and freebie issue. I and many others think the “cheating” aspect has gotten out of hand and trust me ladies and gents, we, the consumers, will be the ones to pay for it in the end.

Collin has a terrific site here and MANY wonderful followers who claim they LOVE her very much. She may be afraid to speak out on this issue for fear of it hurting her site, BUT, Collin, due to the respect you have from all your followers, I and many others would LOVE to see you speak out on this subject of honesty in couponing and freebies on one of your “Follow Me Mondays”. Just think of the impact you could have!!

    • Jane

I agree with Pam. I’d love to see Collin talk about this on one of the follow me Mondays.

    • Joy

      πŸ™‚ What a great idea!

I often try to stay out of some of the more controversial drama that often happens on bargain hunting sites, but this issue really frustrates me – esp. when it could ruin it for all, including great people and great companies.

I also feel like some people post things (i.e., “i just printed X coupon 50 times”) just to stir up trouble. This isn’t high school and we shouldn’t act like a bunch of coupon/freebie “queen bees” and “wannabees.” Instead we should help and encourage each other so we all can “be our best” at saving the hip way. πŸ™‚

  34. pam

I am so sorry for the way I have treated all of you. I should have just left it alone. It’s your lives and you should be able to live it how ever you choose. My judgmental behavior was wrong.

    • Pam

Of course we know that this was done by one of our immature “nasties”.

    • Pam

And, whoever wrote this…..”It’s your lives and you should be able to live it how ever you choose.” ……that may be true, but who would CHOOSE to live a dishonest life??? You should be ashamed for writing something in someone else’s name.

I am not sorry that I spoke up and those of us that have spoken out here will continue to support each other in trying to make couponing and freebies an honest endeavor for the companies, people who work for them and the public so that we can continue to have the wonderful opportunities that these offers afford us.

Collin works very hard to bring us these offers, let’s not disrespect her by dishonest and rude behavior.

Ladies/gents, NEVER be afraid to voice your opinion when you think something is wrong. Someone will always step in and support your good values. In the end, honesty and truth always wins.

      • Stacey Bee

I think this fake “Pam” should be 86’ed forever.

        • Kiesha

Agree, perhaps an IP ban is in order. Though someone that dishonest/amoral probably knows how to circumvent an IP ban.

I have only been “super couponing” for about 6 weeks and for the most part it has been a real blast. I am grateful for sites like this one that help us all save money! Lately though I have seen so many things that just sicken me, here and elsewhere.

          • Andrea (The Real One)

An IP system for id-ing the participants of the site, or even an account log-in system would be wonderful. Then the banned ones couldn’t get on here with bogus information, or anonymously.

  35. Andrea (The Real One)

Yes, I will still use the site to score the great deals that Collin posts, and occasionally post help to other couponers (not cheaters). My husband read this post through last night and was extremely disgusted with those of you that can’t come off 50cents for a bag that’s maybe $1 for the can of tomatoes = bag for 50cents, can for 50cents). He works hard for RED GOLD and they treat their employees wonderfully. He said he didn’t want to post because it would be under my name, although I did tell him he could change it. This site has saved us about half of our grocery bill every week, and that’s good enough for us. I will not be one of the people that cheat the system and scams stores with fake coupons, or coupons I shouldn’t have 50 of. I always leave some for others. I follow the rules of the game. I appreciate those of you that do the same. For those of you that don’t think free or nearly free is good enough, those of you that always want more: You will ruin the game for all of us eventually. Then you’ll be happy to buy that can of tomatoes for $1.

  36. Erica

Okay really, first of all its A BAG! Do you really need one more free bag that bad that you have to technically steal it? I love to save $ as much as the next person but this is crazy. I work 2 jobs, am going to school and take care of my husband and son, money is very tight. Any of you that are so hard up for a bag let me know and I will mail you a few, at least that way you can stop being so cheap as to steal them!

  37. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I have two cans in my pantry but my state is not included in the eligible areas πŸ™ I just bought them yesterday! Whats up with that πŸ™

  38. Julie

Collin, next time if some fraud like this occurs again, I wish you’d just delete the post! Then no one can cheat with an internet UPC or anything similar.

  39. Pointer Men's Basketball

Best you should edit the page name FREE Reusable Tote From Red Gold Tomatoes! – Hip2Save – Not Your Grandma's Coupon Site to more catching for your blog post you make. I enjoyed the the writing still.

  40. Tattoo Kit

I was just searching for this info for a while. After 6 hours of continuous Googleing, at last I got it in your site. I wonder what is the lack of Google strategy that don’t rank this type of informative sites in top of the list. Usually the top sites are full of garbage.
