…AND the Walgreens deals keep rolling out! Currently, Walgreens has a hidden deal available on Hallmark cards! As I mentioned in the Walgreens weekly deals, there is a Register Reward available when you purchase Hallmark cards– Buy 8 Hallmark Cards = $5 RR or Buy 4 Hallmark Cards = $2 RR. Well, it has been reported that the $0.49 kids’ cards (on the lower level of the card section) are working for this deal! Yay!

So here’s the deal:

Buy 8 Hallmark Kids’ cards $0.49 each
Pay $3.92
Get back a $5RR
Final cost 8 cards for FREE + a $1.08 moneymaker!

Our Hallmark is giving away free cards. Dont know if any other area is, but it is worth checking out. 1 free card per person.

  2. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

There is also a coupon in the store ad for .44 cents off any card priced at $1.50 or more (limit 6). So you can buy 8 cards at $1.06 each and get $5 register rewards. Not a bad deal.

Can this deal be done by itself? In the past I’ve had issues with RR printing out if the RR is greater than the total I’m paying (due to using a coupon). Or is it different because it says to buy a certain number of items and not a certain cost?

    • Olivia Smith

I haven’t had issues with the RR printing if the total is less than the value of the RR. However, when redeeming RR it counts as a ‘coupon’ so you cannot use 6 coupons for 5 items– or the RR cannot be more than the total before tax. If you do have an issue, add a filler item! 🙂 Hope that helps.

    • Jamel

Hey yea, you’re right!!! Walgreens buy so many $ worth and get…..is BEFORE coupons. I’ve learned this the hard way…..CVS is not this way….that’s why CVS is AWESOME. Have a great day

    • Jamie

Did you hear this from a store employee/manager? From my experience, when they say this they are just making up reasons for why it didn’t print. They can’t figure it out, so they give that as a reason. If the deal is done correctly (meaning all the correct items purchased and the correct coupons used), it should not matter that you are making money after the RR. HTH.

The Wags near me (New Tampa, Florida) doesn’t carry the $.49 kids cards, only the $.99 cards. 🙁

    • kelly

      same here. i was so bummed! {dallas area}

      • Jasmine

I’m dallas area as well. No .49c cards. 🙁

    • KC

the new one in Riverview doesn’t either 🙁

  5. Olivia Smith

Sweet– I need to get some cards, amazing deal!! 🙂

  6. Leyla

I need to get some cards anyway so its a good deal. Thanks Collin!

  7. galaxystar2

I didn’t see any $.49 cards at my walgreens, i’m gonna try another wags tomorrow!

    • Craig

Yeah me neither. It would be like op said above $1.50- WG in Ad q deal. Not bad if your buying them anyways.

  8. Elizabeth

I went to 2 Walgreens this afternoon and neither carries .49 cards. 🙁

  9. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Also, a reminder that Mother’s Day is around the corner…you could buy a few mother’s Day cards, as well as the .49 cards to get to 8 total, get the $5 RR, and it will still be a good deal!

    • jennifer

Did it 4 times today and works like a charm. Thanks for sharing!

  10. mary

Worked great! Couldn’t find them at first, but then found them on the other card aisle at the bottom. There were only 4 cards to choose from!

    • Sarah

Does anyone have a pic of the .49 cards? I can only find.99 cards. Thanks!

  11. Sun

Yes, there were not many. They are on the very bottom shelf, some are not labeled “49 cents”, you might have to flip it over and see. I bought some some “post card” type for 49 cents, and it said “in memory of, a donation was made”. I bought a couple of these to defray the cost of the cards I really wanted. Great deal!

  12. Craig

Ummn, might have to go back and look again then.

  13. Olivia Smith

Went to WAGS in Southeast PA tonight and couldn’t find the 49 cent cards. However, I still got 8- 99 cent cards for a great deal!! 🙂

  14. Ashlee

Ours did not have the .49 cards either, but I got 4 “real” mothers day cards and 4 upcoming kids birthday cards for about $3. Not bad since most cards are around that price.

  15. CdninAK

If the RR are a ‘hidden’ deal, how can you be sure your WAGS is participating? Or is company-wide? I just wonder if you go through with your cards and then the RR doesn’t print, can you return them?

    • Sharon

Thanks what I was thinking, the people at Wlagreens are usually so nasty I would hate to have to return cards!

    • Kiesha

It isn’t a hidden deal, it is in the weekly ad.

  16. grace

Our walgreens (Frisco, TX) does not carry the 0.49 cards..I instead picked the 99 cents cards and got the reg rewards.

    • Olivia Smith

Me too, here in Pennsylvania! 🙂 It still made for an AWESOME deal….I’ve got enough cards for the rest of the year in birthdays, etc. 🙂

  17. Melissa

Picked up 8 of these today. My store had at least 15 different ones that were 49 cents! What a great deal! Soem could be used for adults too!

    • lindsey

      where are you located?

  18. Annette

Anyone in Oregon find these in their stores? I’m going to head out tomorrow to check it out. Just wondering if anyone has spotted them. I’ll report back what I find tomorrow.

  19. Amber W

couldn’t find the $0.49 cards here either… there were several decent $0.89 cards though, a few generic happy birthday, get well and thinking of you (smaller cards mixed in with others, usually towards the bottom of the shelves)

  20. anu1c

i went today and didnt see the 49 cents ones, do they look different then the 99 cents ones? how do you know without picking them all up and checking the back for the price? I guess its still a good deal with the 99 cent cards.

  21. aly

FYI i tried this with the small cards for .60 each by the gift wrap. The ones you can tie on to a bag etc. and it did not print a RR. Oh Well. I will still use them!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I did the same thing and same no RR. Could not find any $.49 cards. This was the cheapest and thought it should work. I returned them. Will have to check some different stores.

  22. Amy M

No .49 cent cards at the 2 Wags by me in Goodyear. Got the 99 cent cards and those are great for my card box. You never know when you need a last minute card.

  23. Annette

Checked Newberg, OR and didn’t see any .49 cards. I used to work at Hallmark, so I was hoping that I’d be able to spot them from experience. Lots of .99 cards though. I didn’t get any because I don’t really need any cards right now and I didn’t want to pay the OOP to get 8 of the .99 cards. Still a good deal if you’re needing cards.

    • sally

I didn’t see them either in Newberg, OR (and they have quite a few cards). Thought maybe it was just me!

  24. Laura

I tried buying 4-$0.60 Hallmark simple cards without the envelope tonight and 4-$0.99 cards and only got a $2RR. The cheap simple cards did not work for the deal. I thought it may have been any 8 hallmark cards….

  25. Heather@BecauseMoreIsMore

No .49 cards in Everett, WA either. I did find some .89 cent kids cards (only a few to choose from). Didn’t do the deal because I was short on time, but I’ll go back & try it (I need the cards anyway).

  26. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

No .49 cent cards and only a few.99 cent and 1.99 ones. I got 8 of the $.60 ones by the wrapping paper, but didn’t get any RR. The clerk said it only worked on Hallmark Sound Cards, but I don’t think she actually knew. She said that’s what the weekly ad says.

  27. Jerri

I asked at my Walmart in Dallas and they do not have any 49 cent children’s cards – darn!
